that number will be 285 soon, then 280, then 275. Good progress, MJ

thanks Tony, that’s the plan

2/23/12 kettlefagging:
last day with the 44 lb bell, did 6 sets of 20
changed the weight on the bell to 56 lbs (1.5 poods, or 24 kilos)
in russian, the word “pood” is spelled like this: nyg just saying
My goal is to do 10x10 with the 108 (eventually).
if I can ever repair myself to the point where I can do 1 leg squats, i’ll start working the get ups and bent presses and other circus tricks again.

Also, been doing some weighted air humping. I have decided my insane hip flexor won’t stop firing problem is generated by a glute just won’t fire problem. as I do more glute work, my hip hurts less. go figure

Your making a lot of progress with the KB work. Pretty soon your going to the go to guy on them.

naw, kbgirl is still a bigger kettlestud than I am

2/24/12 kettlefagging, 56lb kettlebell
swings, 8x 10, about 30 seconds rest between.

form started deteriorating in set 8, so finished it there. interesting what a difference 12 lbs makes. The good news is that I feel it in the sleepy glute, which means its waking up. It appears that for once I’m doing things right.

party on, dudes.

well that’s 12lb X 8 X 10 = an extra 960lbs for the session not to mention being multiplied by the distance it’s swung. That’s a big progression there.

awww, shucks. Such kind words. Just doing my best to get as consistent w/every rep. as my coach, Fischer, is when he trains.

Been following and enjoying your log, MJ. Not around a ton of folks who have any real goals for KB work, so all your pood / two pood talk makes me smile. Rock on!

3/4/12
kettlewanking, 1.5 pood (odin s’polovinoi pudni)
5x 10. nearly killed me after an extended absence. travelling next week, taking bell with me

Not sure exactly how much a pood is but its got to be heavy cause it sounds like it.

nice work MJ glad to see you trucking along

Has the whiskey killed you? Where you at?

Sorry y’all, my life has been a train-wreck for the past 5 weeks. I haven’t read anyone else’s logs. But, life is getting back to normal. sort of.

Joey! 1 pood = 36.1 pounds. its an old-fashioned measure in russia.

Kev! i wish it were more like trucking and less like waddling up hill in the mud carrying a big rock

Stevie! death by whiskey would have been much more pleasant. Life intruded, and took away all my spare time for awhile.

I have re-commenced the rehab, and I am lifting again. sort of. the weights are very low, just trying to get the feel of the squat and bench back without causing myself so much soreness that I have to take time off. Doing a daily regimen of kb swings in the morning (had to cut weight back to 28 lbs) and in the afternoon I do front squats, bench, good mornings, military. sometimes some kerlz and tricep stuff. 3x10 on everything except for squats.

yesterday squats were 3x5 with 55. bench with 3x12 at 55, 65, 75. military was 3x10 with 55. Tonight will be the first time I do good mornings.

Just trying to ease back into it. squats are accompanied by the feeling of things burning and stretching, but not snapping or breaking, so that’s good. The majority of my squat related issues are extremely tight and weak adductors, and my right hip flexor tries to help with every movement, so i stretch and roll the shit out of it trying to inhibit it.

I think I’ll build back reasonably fast, provided I don’t push the squats too hard.

In Laramie. all rehab issues complicated by being at 7,000 feet. and being fat and weak

The prodigal son has return. Glad to see you’re back at it. Hope the DOMS don’t keep you out of the gym. I haven’t drank whiskey in months but am getting a bottle for the weekend.

I haven’t in days, but intend to have 2 tonight. Season finale of the show ‘Justified’, can’t make it through an episode w/o some bourbon.

MJ, glad you are back.

Weight don’t matter when you’re making a comeback. Just get beack into the routine and the increase will come.

last night did some more lifting where “weight don’t matter cuz i’m making a comeback”.

this morning swung my tiny, little-girl kettlebell of 27 lbs 10x10.

weighed 292

i’m going on one of those expensive pre-made no-food diets next week called medi-fast. time to join the thundering herd of fat people

nice to see you back at it. good luck with the medifast

Medifast will have the weight falling right off. Get all ripped up for summer.
