Old School Strength

Introduction:
38yr. Male 5’6" 160 lbs.
I’m a long time reader of T-Nation so I thought I would start my first online log here.

This January I decided it was time to get serious about dropping some weight. I have been carrying around a spare tire for years! I was up to 183 lbs. and not enjoying how I looked. I have been lifting weights for a long time but could never stick to a routine. I read about the Paleo diet and thought it sounded pretty solid. Well here I am at my current weight and I feel awesome!

Now I need to address my lack of devotion to a set routine. I have decided to have fun with lifting and do some old school lifting.

3/16
1 hand deadlift (bar straddled)
115/1x2
135/1
145/1
155/1x5

2 hands anyhow (snatch barbell/kettlebell)
45/16kg x5
my brent press needs lots of work but this movement feels great. It hits about every muscle in the body.

see saw press
30/3x5
going to replace this with kettlebell ladders for shoulder work

3/17
back squat (literally ATG)
155/3
185/3
215/3x3
going to replace these with front squats

1 arm c&j
65/1
75/1x5

DB curl (strict)
30/3x5

Well there it is. I am going to do these alternating for the 4 days I don’t work each week. When I get the weekend option line (nurse at the U of Iowa children’s hospital) I will throw in a free day in the middle.

Thanks for reading,
Jay

1 hand deadlift
115/1
135/1
165/1
175/1x5

2 hands anyhow

55lb. bb/16kg kb = 91lb. 5 singles each arm

16kg kb mil. press ladders
(1/1,2/2,3/3)x3

finisher work

16kg kb 5 snatches each hand then 10 swings each hand x3

I did the 32kg kb c&j after the deadlifts. I was feeling pretty strong. It went up easy.

On the one hand stuff (not kb) are you using a regular 7’ oly bar? Welcome, you’re doing some different and interesting stuff.

you’re not welcome unless you do 5/3/1. change templates or die

Might as well die now. 5/3/1 is a protracted death.

You a member of USAWA? Fun stuff you’re doing.
