The BCAAs you take during a long workout. Is that in a protein drink? Or what? I’ve been struggling with getting thru training sessions lately. Maybe I should try this? Or maybe I just need to cut back on my accessory work.

I would try a drink versus cutting back IMO
It’s just a BCAA supplement. I like to use the one from Quest Nutrition but they were out so i got some from gnc called Modern BCAA. I just sip on 1 or 2 servings depending on how i feel. I think UpScale is using something similar (but might be more of an energy drink) to help with her workouts. Her lower days are close to 2 hrs long.

Also forgot to mention protein powder i use is AMP wheybolic extreme 60

I use jack shit for supplements. Of course this could explain why my lifting sucks.

Ill have to notice if its the bcaas in drink (Surge) or the creatine, cause honestly Im not sure how Im making it through some of these sessions.Never run out but when im done, Im done.

I also take ZMA - didnt know it helped restless legs, i get that from time to time.
I also take primrose oil, glutamimne, fish oil, and a supplement drink with tons of stuff in it, incl, pre/pro biotics etc.If Im way up on protein i do take super enzymes.

protein shake- and gas, there are only a few that i can handle, love lean body for her, post wo.

Hey Joe i was the same way then i saw an article by Ricky Crain entitled something like “if your not supplementing your committing suicide” and it made sense. Also had a conversation with Ricks and he basically echoed the same feelings.

UpScale i am not sure how your get through some of those sessions either but you sure keep truckin and making good progress. I need to pick your brain about the pre/post biotics and the enzymes…

Might have to try some BCAAs. Need something to get through the longer sessions.

Yea IDK if it’s a placebo but i am now sold and working for Up so 2/2? Let me know if you try it and what you think…well not if it doesn’t work, don’t want to ruin the placebo effect…ha ha ha

BCAA’s were a god send for some of my longer sessions back in the day. So much so that I just carried the damn container in my bag and refilled when necessary.

When I was training for my show I was probably at 35-40g of BCAA’s a workout.

Sadly, these powders are “outlawed” in my current diet phase (as are pre-WO drinks and simple carbs post-WO).

Supplementation wise right now I am using:
Fish Oil/Mac Nut Oil
HOT-ROX (this was green tea extract for a long time)
Occasionally Alpha GPC
Multi
ZMA (pre-bed)
EPO (pre-bed)
5g creatine -non lifting days
10g creatine - lifting

And I suppose Protein Shakes are supplements as well, so one or two a day of those. Different types depending on time of consumption. (Isolate for morning shake or post workout (fast release) and Micellar Casein for any MRP’s or pre-bed (slow release))

I’m pretty light on supplements. I would use more Biotest stuff if the cross-border charges weren’t so steep. So I use 10g creatine mono powder, 2 scoops powdered BCAAs (bitter but you get used to it) and usually some powdered Gatorade. Mix in a shaker, drink 1/2 about 30 minutes before and the rest during.
5g of creatine on off days.

That being said i’ve been out of BCAAs for a while which might explain the meh energy during training.

I echo what German said about supplements being more important as the diet gets tighter. If you are overeating then there is a better chance the body will have what it needs. Big, strong and lean is a tough combination without some help.

I am a big fan of plain on creatine mono. I use a preworkout supp that rhymes with ‘whacked’. fish oil, multi, various anti-oxidants, glutamine. [/quote]

I also periodically use a pre workout supplement that rhymes with smacked. It makes me talk fast.

Like Joe, I take nothing, but my lifting sucked when I was on creatine and protein powders too. Never really noticed the difference.

And I’m no expert on supplements, but what would be the point of taking BCAA during a workout, if you’re short of energy you need glycogen surely?, not protein.

I have found I need to monitor the dosage, otherwise I start behaving like, well, a fucking crackhead.

No kidding. I don’t take it all the time because it makes me so ‘energetic’. I’ve found that the effect is intensified the less water used to mix it up. Sometimes the lift is awesome. Other times, meh, I’m not into it. I tend to be high energy anyway so I think the effect can be like a methed up energizer bunny.

Dam ddot, you got your stuff dialed in!!!
Git did you ever try getting someone to ship them for you?
O we might need to see that on video
Farmer makes no sense at all but…
Lol Pete…a 270 lbs crackhead…ha ha ha

I have a hard time now with the stuff that has 300mg of caffeine in it. If anything I used to take 1/2 a dose. Otherwise I would get pretty clammy and pale looking pretty fast.

I’m a pretty naturally wired person myself. So whatever “smacked” stuff you take, it would probably put me – or those around me – over the edge.

I like the SSP in the sence that it gives me energy but doesn’t get me too wired. Kind of nice and steady instead of that jolt.
