comment on your de set up. green bands? that slack? doubled minis, of whatever tension, works much better, and you get constant tension through out (albeit a lot more at lockout). fairly long reach, how tall are you?
Ya i saw that band unload when i wathced first set and thought dam, but i didn’t want to stop and mess with it. Do you think doubled mini or maybe loop green band around the bar a time or two?
Height is 5’8
I have gotten my best results with doubled mini, and those short bands that Elite sells now work great too.

Doubled mini it is then. When i used them before i ran them under a db and back to bar, still the way it’s set up right?

Cool, keep ya posted. Going to alternate tradition bench weeks with band weeks, (i think lol). Same with sq/dl
Interested to see how it works.
I am trying to waive squat/dl intensity. So one week I will have true DE work, the next heavy w/either accomadating resistance or reverse bands, and the next will be ‘modern DE work’, more or less box squats working up to heavier doubles. Rinse, repeat.
DE bench is having some heavier stuff added in right now to keep getting stronger, mainly because ME day has turned into ‘learn the new shirt’ day.

So is the second week a ME week or more just a heavy training week?

I wanted to ask about the benching with bands, I usually wrap them around the anchors of the bench, and then attach them to the bar, is this wrong? Possibly mess with the resistance? I also do the same with squatting with the bands, I basically do it from ease standpoint, but curious as to what you think

Hey Matty, there are tons of ways to attach the bands. I think if you follow a few basic guidelines you can set up how it works best for your equipment.
Should be some tension at the bottom, as Pete pointed out you can see i blew that one on my set up since the band unloaded at bottom. Make sure you don’t have too much tension at the top. Lastly make sure you have them set up in a position that when you lift the bands aren’t pulling you forward or backward. Past that just keep experimenting and tweaking them until you get it dialed in. If you can put a pic on log i can take a look and maybe have some better input? Hope that helps.
Definitely, I had one up in my old log Ill repost it tonight, its with the incline, now that I just received my monster minis I will use that for the times whenever I flat bench. Thanks again.

I know that looping the minis from bar around db to bar is good. Not sure how that would work with monster mini’s though. Never used them. Also not sure if you could tie up the db’s at a commercial gym?
I have in the past, when it isnt crowded, I dont think its a big deal, for a commercial gym they dont bust my balls too much, I can DL, use chalk bands, chains (if I had em) with no issues. I have actually been alternating band benching and regular benching/db bench alternate weeks as well, I actually like it alot, one session gives me more volume the other I work on strength.

I like the alternating weeks as well. Bands tend to beat me up a bit so the aternating weeks seems to work out well. That volume/strength alternating weeks will also go a long way to keeping you healthy(injury free) IMO
Deads today. didn’t like my sets, weight didn’t feel heavy but didn’t like push off floor. Back was tired, probably from band squats on Monday. Also didn’t like my shoulder position, would like to have shoulders locked back a little more.
Pretty much had a 3 min RI during workout except for GM and GHR
Great pulling! They seem very easy for you. I had a guy that Im friendly with tell me yesterday that Im not getting my ass down enough when I DL, I always thought this was a matter of preference, can it be said that some pull more with their back and others with their legs. In looking at your vid you seem to pull more with your back, as I feel I do as well. What do you think?
See now that I broke the seal I wont leave you alone!

Lol, i haven’t heard break the seal since my college days, taking that first pizz when ur out drinking.
Some people definetly pull with more back. I think it is important to get the bar started with a push even if you are a back dealifter. Kinda goes legs to start, back, then maybe finish with legs? I think for me shoulder position and a flat/arched back is more important than how low my hips are. If they are locked in i am good. I see way too many people squat down and raise there hips up 4-5 inches before the bar leaves the floor. Wasted motoin in my opinion.
