Old Meathead Challenge Thread

This can be done in as many sets as possible right? I’ll do this in a couple of weeks right before my deload. How is everyone thinking of filming this? I can’t imagine this will be super exciting to watch so maybe we just waive the filming requirement.

Yes. Just no supersetting of exercises allowed.

The tech savvy people (not me 'fer sure) are probably able to edit out the resting parts, and just show the action parts I would guess.

I have no filming capability; when the battery in my current phone dies, I guess I’ll be forced to get a smartphone with video capability. If I ever lay claim to what I perceive to be an outlier type of performance, I’d probably snag someone with a camera to film it. But I figure why go to all that trouble to film average-ness? Lol.

Oh I dunno, I think it’ll be quite exciting to watch someone cough a lung onto the floor or something.

Punnyguy, I thought everyone in California was either in the film business or trying to get in. : ) Anyway, I’d be delighted to edit your stuff, but there’s the problem of how to get the footage to me - you can’t just email a hundred megs file.

I’m going to try this the Sat. after Thanksgiving. I’m going to try and video it by having my wife run the camera and take vids of each lift which should show the starting time on the first vid and the ending time on the last

Not sure of a better way to video unless you have mad editing skills.

So you’ll do it right after Thanksgiving dinner? Definitely video it.

late to the game but I’ll try the first challenge over the weekend if my hip holds up.

Okay, so who is first one up?

Thanks Tim for posting more information about the challenge. Most of the women’s weights don’t sound horribly difficult but something tells me that when you put the whole thing together in one vomit package, the weights get a whole lot tougher.
I may try this on Sunday @ the Very Good level, which for me would be:

Bench - 175
Deadlift - 306 (round up to 310)
Pullups - +25lbs
Curl - 87.5 (round up to 90)

Not sure the best way to film this though.
Naked?

LOL. Nice one, Ms. O.

My scheduled attempt date is 11/15 (scheduled to do a similar bench workout anyway). Going for 185 bench, pullups + 25, 325 deadlift, 95 curl. I have no camera or even a smart phone (I’m a dummy!), so no naked videos for me. If I ever get strong enough to where I can do the Very Good level with the absolute weights, I plan to hire a film crew to videotape it so I can watch it when I’m old and feeble; I will be naked, and there will be dancing girls cooling me off with palm fronds, feeding me peeled grapes to maintain my hydration levels.
Did this today. Finished at 24:50 or so, decided to do one more curl since I “walked under” a rep instead of actually curling it with my arms, so final tally 25:10.

Finished the bench and pullups in under 10 minutes, which surprised me because I thought the pullups would give me trouble but for some reason they felt good and fairly “easy” today. Deadlifts surprised me with how difficult they felt due to accumulated fatigue, finished right at 20 minute mark, so took over 10 minutes.

Metabolically, only the deadlift portion felt really difficult. Unfortunately, except (surprisingly) for the pullups, I was not strong enough to dominate the weight(s), so I couldn’t do the reps fast enough to challenge myself too much from an aerobic standpoint.

I completely failed on this one on account of never having got around to it, then with the indigo and new CT based programme completely forgot about it.

I did hit a new personal record (non weights) which i had been aiming for which is 2 miles and 1000 vertical feet ascent in 20 minutes on the treadmill.

Hope you can set us a new weights based one joe.
