My bench felt real good today. I was locked in, as 400 felt easier than 395. To be fair in kind of cheated. My second set (330) was 25 pounds lighter than last week. I wanted to have a little more in the tank though.
Tomorrow I’ll test out the back with deads. It’s just stiff, and not at bad as in the past.

Well the back feels no worse for the wear. I worked fast again with speed reps for deads. I am scheduled for squats on Monday, but I think I will skip them to protect the back. I’ll just do leg presses that day.
The guy who got carted out was back today. He said he only had low blood sugar. At least it was not a heart attack.
On a side note, I worked at my second job as an adjunct instructor yesterday. My boss and I were helping kids who are going to graduate with job interview skills. I was stunned when a couple administrators walked into her off. I was presented with one of their adjunct of the year awards. I was blown away, because it was 100% unexpected.
Thank you. Since it is a private school they were able to give me a huge bonus to go along with it. A whole $100. I thought it was funny, because I don’t do it for the money. This only proves it. They laughed about it too, since I’ll probably lose most of my 100 bucks in taxes. Still it was a nice honor.
I got up and went in an hour early at 0600. Its funny how you see people you have either never seen before, or rarely see if you adjust your schedule just a little. I now have a three and a half hour drive to make it to a meeting the next two days.

My back is still feeling better, but not enough for squats. In fact I had an internal argument with myself when I saw the rack was free. I decided to give if more time and stick with leg presses. I did not go as high as I could have, because I have messed up my knee in the past doing leg presses. The last thing I want is a bad back and a bad knee. Plus I see all these memes with some joker with a bunch of plates on the leg press machine, acting like it means something. I don’t want to be that guy.
Zerchers were good. 335 was a little much. I only tried it because my buddy was there and he loaded the bar for me. I’m clearly not ready for that yet.

Today was my once a month “lift crazy stuff day.” It’s a nice change of pace, while being fun and challenging. Since I have to walk around a lot I also sometimes get in the way of other gym folks. Luckily they all know me, and are good with it.
Finally a tennis report. The coach is probably going to move my daughter from doubles to singles. She has grown frustrated with her partner, who has not improved a lot and has had attitude issues. She played a singles match last night and earn a perfect set. I am told that is hard to do, and no one on the team has had one. Win or lose being on her own is going to be a lot of work and a great experience.
Crippler- I’ve got to get back to doing loaded carries, thanks for the reminder… strong work as always… And best to your daughter in tennis… I’m sure its very exciting for her to get an opportunity to be a singles player.
Thanks OG. Weighted walks make you strong for sure. As for my girl I guess will be playing singles at sub-districts. It should be interesting since she has always played doubles. The top five make it to districts, so the has a good shot. She’s only a sophomore and if she continues to improves she will do very well by her senior year. She told us she would like to play in college, so it will take some work indeed.

405 x 2 has been a goal for a while. It’s also a raw two rep PR. I was worried because 335 felt real heavy for some reason. It seemed easier than 400 x 2, however. When I did that one I broke a bunch of blood vessels in my head. I looked like I was attacked with sandpaper. My wife warned me to be more “careful” today since we are going to a big alumni event at our university tonight. I’m proud to say my face and head look just as ugly as they did when I walked in the door.
Next week will be a deload week for sure. My left elbow and right shoulder are feeling it right now.
Handstand push-ups were not very good. Four was a real battle.
