Treadmill:
4 sets x 10 reps x 195

I’ve been stuck at 465 for three reps for the past three weeks. I will remain stuck there. It’s been a problem with depth. I’ll try it again next time.

I also met my match with the 315 pound zercher. It’s the most I have ever tried to “zercher.” I was a little short there too.

All in all a good day, because it beat my ass. Plus there was no fight club at the gym today. I was told they kicked the crazy guy out.

There goes a PR source.

And I’m good with that.

Good. You hardly need an external stimulus for a PR.

Gee, I just really feel for you…:smirk:

It’s all relative z.

Happy belated Easter to one and all. Mine was spent at work, but it was not too bad.

Today was week 2 of my new cycle of deficit deads. Since the weight is still pretty light, I am making them speed reps. I am also messing around with my new stance. I have been a sumo puller for so long I don’t really think too much about foot placement. With my narrower stance I have to be more careful. If feels pretty strong when I hit is just right.

Yes, yes; I know it is

All relative.

I felt really strong today. 395 x 2 was probably the hardest I have ever pushed. The first rep felt real heavy. The second rep was a major struggle. I got about half way up and I felt I was losing it. I stayed with it and kept pushing. I have no idea how high my ass came off the bench, but I know it did. It was one of those where I almost fell over when I stood up.

When I got home I could only muster up four handstand pushups.

Also more action at the gym. Just as I was getting ready for my heavy set, I noticed the guy on the other bench looked pretty sick. I saw his friend go to the kid at the front desk, and I knew they were calling 911. I hurried up because I knew the firemen would be there soon. After 395 I picked up my gear and moved on. I did not want to be the heartless bastard lifting weights as the guy next to me was being carried out.

It turns out he may have had a heart attack. They ended up wheeling him out. Although we have never talked, he seems like a nice guy. I hope everything works out.

Never a dull moment. Hope he is okay.

You’re benching 395 for reps regularly now. Great work strong guy. Keep doing the handstand pushups, and just pace yourself so your workout aftereffects remain better than the guy you described. I remember my strength stayed good from late 40s through about 55.

About 10 years ago a guy in treadmill room died of heart attack pretty near me. He was a city councilman under 50 and he looked normal, not fat.

Thanks biker. I keep thinking I have about 10 more good years of getting stronger. I have a friend who still benches 500 - 600 (geared) at age 54.

As for the guy there was no update this morning. I told the front counter kid this better not be a ploy to get more money out of us for dues. The entertainment factor the last two weeks keeps me wondering what is on store for next week. I’ve been going there for 15 years and I have never seen a fight or anyone rushed to the hospital. I have now seen both in the past two weeks

4/22/17

Squats:
135 x 10, 225 x 5, 275 x 3, 315 x 1, 405 x 3, 435 x 0 (hurt my back)

Leg Extensions:
4 sets x 10 reps x 195

Well that sucked. I stepped out with 435 and it kind of felt like my torso twisted. I then got a shooting pain in my spine and I nearly fell to my knees. I was able to walk it back and rack the weight.

I still have full range of motion, so I am going to guess it is back spasms again. It hurts pretty bad though. I got a bad case of spasms in the fall. As I recall it was also during squats. It took me at least two months to get better last time. I won’t settle for that this time. I plan on being proactive with rehab if that is the issue.

Well that does suck! Hope you get better soon.

Try walking A LOT.

I took today off, and I am at work the next two. It’s much better than last time. I actually helped my wife move her mother out of her apartment all day yesterday. I lifted a lot of heavy stuff with no issues. Today I traded training for yard work. I should be good by later in the week. Last time it was a struggle to get in and out of my car at work.

You heal quick.

No, I’m still stiff. Its just not too bad.
