Old Guy Strength

A friend of mine at the gym pulled me aside Friday and said he was worried about me. He then asked if I was sick. I told him I’m just tired of being fat.

Hard to comment on that post.

Aren’t you the guy who was getting compliments about being in great shape at that Vegas pool awhile ago?

A few years back my boss and in-law(?) went on a weight loss journey. Being the superintendent of a school district he is a semi-public individual. Word started getting around he was in the middle of chemo. He was not in the middle of chemo of course.

Yep. Last year. We’re going again next week, so I want to trim down. You never know who you’re going to run into in the pool.

Thank you

I thought I was starting to look good. Not sick. Still, I’ll take it. It shows I’m making some progression.

Thanks. I just need two more for my goal of 30. I might as well go for 40 by Christmas. Next year will be my final year in the 48–55-year class for powerlifting. I have state, national and world records at 242 and 259. I might as well add a third weight class.

That’s always super hard. My goal was 75 minutes, but I had orders to be home at certain time, so we could go out. I value my life, so I cut it short.

Again, I am noticing a loss of strength being down nearly 30 pounds. Once more I made my minimum, however, so I’m good. I’m hopeful that once I settle on a weight, I can build myself back up.

Last night my wife and I went to dinner with our son and his girlfriend. I have not worn my favorite jeans in a while. I was suprised how baggy they were.

I did it! I hit 30 pounds lost since my meet in April this morning. I’ve moved the goal posts, and I want another 10 by Christmas. It hasn’t been too bad. I have almost totally eliminated bread and sugar from my diet. Of course, I have greatly increased the amount of cardio that I do.

I’ll throw all that out in Vegas next week.

Yeah, it sounds like a good idea until you get about 30 minutes in.
