-[][][]---OL Log 4---[][][]-

Hey, just felt like adding a little motivation to my training. My hip flexor (right side) is a little messed up, so I’m backing off the squats for now. But as of today my best lifts are:

Hang Snatch: 50 KG
Hang C&J: 70KG
Back Squat: 150KG

Haha, yeah, those numbers do look a little low for my strength. I need some serious technique work.

friday 4/3/11

snatch
3,3x80 missed last, first reps both behind
3x85 missed last rep slightly forward
1,1x90 missed 1st one

4 reps missed, 3 of them back… arms were generally not locking out well today. Weak or something dunno. Still i liked it, after today’s session I feel WAY more comfortable snatching. I have almost no doubt I’ll do 100 next maxing out. Maybe 105 depending on how these heavy sessions go

c&j
2+1x90
1+1x95
1+1x100 missed jerk… lol

trying to figure out how to get in a better pre-extension position. They felt different

snatch pulls to knee
4x105
4x115
4,4x115 on top of 20kg plates
not too hard

back squats
2,3x120
2,2x130
grunted lots on last rep, i hope this doesn’t mean thats as heavy as I can go cause this was the lightest of the back squat days.

was also supposed to do push press but didn’t, generally had to rush through this session

Thanks so much for all the great feedback (and encouragement!) More snatches tonight and I’ll see how it goes.

I hate to be the one to say this, but it’s possible that everyone is just so excited to see someone with a vagina posting lifting vids and actively trying to get better, haha (not that there’s anything wrong with that, I think it’s cool, haha).

That being said, unfortunately I don’t think enough of my eye for technique to give you too much feedback other than to echo some of what’s already been said (bending the arms early, flexibility is quite good, second pull is quick) and to say that the difference in back angle when you start your second pull in this video compared to some of your others (where you snatch from the hang) is huge. And yes, I did creep your youtube profile to watch your other videos when someone said something about “progress”.

spot on, sir.

Hmmm I really don’t know how to take that.

Take it as a compliment. It’s rare enough to see women who take lifting weights seriously, let alone women who take the olympic lifts any kind of seriously. The fact that you’re trying them out and are willing to come on here and get advice speaks volumes. Don’t let some anonymous buffoon’s comments about gender slow you down :stuck_out_tongue:

haha alright, a compliment it is then

I don’t quite know what was meant by that comment, either, but I was a bit shy of posting over here initially in case people didn’t take me seriously. That is why I purposely chose a gender neutral posting name. I’m glad that I did start posting over here because people have been supportive of my efforts and I’ve received a lot of helpful feedback. I think that since there aren’t many people who are serious about training and improving on their Olympic Lifting the community is pretty wonderful in general to those who are sincere. People. Not just those who are female.

This is spot on! The community of those who see the Olympic lifts as a separate sport is quite small and I’ve found in my short time that many are genuinely excited to have more come to the sport and are eager to offer back input in return for the input they received and continue to receive.

I posted my meet lifts for critique a few weeks back and despite my glaring lack of a vagina I was offered very serious and genuine feedback.

Now if I could just get my wrist to heal up, I could start attacking my snatch again :frowning:

what’s that about a snatch?

lolol.

ok serious mode, ON.

Got some videos to share. I think I am not dropping far enough underneath the jerks, but I did set a PR beforehand some I wasn’t too sad to miss them.

I also got a hang snatch video to check bar path, take a look if you want and let me know what you guys see. Thanks!

One day I’m going to start a thread ‘hai look at my snatch!’ :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, serious now… I have only once seen someone doing Olympic lifts at my gym. My trainer has given me good coaching on my cleans but not so much on my snatches. She just tells me they’re good which I’m pretty sure they’re not and thankfully you guys are telling me so to. I’ve only spent a few hours with her though.

Hopefully I’ll learn enough to give comments back one day.

Trained with Abadjiev yesterday, I hurtz.

Front squat singles to 185kg (2.5 kg PR, he said I need to FS 280kg to have ‘strong legs.’)
Rest 20min
Snatch singles to 112x3/1
Rest 20min
CJ singles to 135, then 125 and 130 for 1 clean+2 jerks
Rest 10 min
Front squat singles to 175, then back off 165x2x2
Get lectured (I like these)

Crawl away, stretch, massage.

I was on a plane yesterday and was up since 3am, I was tired but still managed to do well. Ive been training like this for about a month, my knees ache a lot and if I were with any other person telling me to do this, Id have doubts, but Abadjiev does have interesting explanations for why he does what he does.

Saturday - Press, Deadlift, Pullup, Kroc Row

Press:
-95 x 5
-115 x 5
-135 x 4
-155 x 1, 1, 1
-160 x 1

Deadlift:
-135 x 4
-225 x 5
-315 x 3
-365 x 2
-405 x 1
-425 x 1
-440 x 0, 0

Pullup:
-BW x 8
-25 x 8
-35 x 5, 4 (really tired, supposed to get 3x8)

Kroc Row (heavy dumbbell row with a bit of cheating, high weight high reps):
-70 x 20

Notes:
-155 with the press was really difficult, shoulders tired from jerks yesterday
-tried for a deadlift PR, no go though at 440. 425 not terrible though, was tired from last night’s workout.
-pullup 3x8 then increase weight

Weight:
-187.5 post workout
