Another woman! Nice lifting

TheJonty might complain about your chosen units however

OLift is the f0cking sh!t and where it’s at imo. Been cracking at it for the past 12yrs. I probably have another 8yrs at my best but I’m going to keep smashing it up and keep the young whippers at bay when I’m 35  It’ll be really interesting to see how my lifts get effected as I reach 30 and head towards 35. I’m 27 at the moment.

You’re making me feel old

I wish I knew about this when I was 20 (or 12 lol).

Me? Naw, I wouldn’t do that, now would I? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d say welcome to the new lady, but I’ll leave that to the folks who do more than pop in infrequently to give their unsolicited 2 cents.

Firstly, “Big Amish” is an awesome nickname. Also, music choice wasn’t terrible.

Nice to see a clean and jerk in there (is there a snatch clip forthcoming at some point?). Do you always step forward like that when you squat jerk though? Looks like your hips might be coming out of the hole a little faster than the rest of you with those, just a thought. Nice to see a big guy with the flexibility to try to pull that off though.

4/1/11

Clean high-pull + mid-hang clean - 50%, 60%, 65% x 3 sets - 150/185/195 lbs

Front squat - 60%x5, 65%x5, 70% x 3 x 2 - 200/215/235 lbs

3 sets; no rest:
10 DB chainsaw row/arm - 70 lbs
10 Knee-to-elbows

pfft. friendly, aren’t ya?

:-p

i’ll admit that pounds doesn’t mean anything to me, but if kg’s didn’t mean anything to you guys i wouldn’t go changing.

Edit: I had more time to review the video this morning and I am showing all kinds of weakness in the clean and jerk. The knees are coming together on the pull, my dip and drive before the jerk is slow and almost halting. Overall not great clean and jerks. The snatches felt great though, really light off the floor and all the way up to the top.

Friday - Snatch Max, Clean and Jerk Max, Squat Max

Last day going really heavy before the competition next week, wanted to try for some PRs. Tried. Got my maxes, no PRs though. The only video of the squat is the miss. I have been working hard to stay upright and go slow like Koing said, and it REALLY doesn’t show here because I failed the lift. Had I taken video of 325 you would have been proud.

The snatch was the fifth attempt at 90, and the only one I chased.

Snatch:
-40 x 3
-50 x 3
-60 x 2
-70 x 1
-75 x 1 -First opener
-79 x 1
-85 x 1
-90 x miss back, miss front, miss front, miss front, 1
-92.3 x miss

Clean and Jerk:

Cleans feeling really heavy squatting up, probably because I maxed the front squat Wednesday. The jerks felt good though.

-70 x 1
-90 x 1
-100 x 1
-105 x 1
-110 x 1
-115 x 1
-120 x 1
-125 x clean, clean (cleans really hard, jerks attempted and failed)

Dips:
-BW x 5
-25 lbs x 5
-50 x 8,8,8
…supersetted with…
Barbell Curl:
-70 x 10, 10, 10

Back Squat:
-135 x 3
-225 x 1
-275 x 1
-295 x 1
-315 x 1
-325 x 1
-335 x miss (PR attempt)

Notes:
-good day, went heavy, got some video. Missed my first snatch behind, ever.

Saturday - Press, Snatch Grip Deadlift, Deadlift, Chins

Last day going kind of heavy, didn’t go too heavy on the deadlift but I wouldn’t call it a light day, I went 90%. Press was feeling strong. Felt strange deadlifting in the Oly shoes, but thats what I was wearing.

Press:
-85 lbs x 5
-105 x 3
-135 x 3
-140 x 3, 3, 3, 3

Snatch Grip Deadlift, Deficit:
-135 x 5, 5, 5 (light, but I am still learning it. Would be nice to have a mirror)

Deadlift:
-225 x 4
-315 x 3
-365 x 3
-385 x 1
-405 x 1 (stopped here, kept it fast off the floor)

Chins:
-BW x 5
-35 x 5, 5, 5

Kroc Row:
-Right 75 x 20, Left 75 x 17+3

cloy, checked out your vids on youtube. nice stuff.
how much are you weighing? and what are your maxes on squat/front squat/ bench/ deadlift/ overhead strict press?
just curious, if you dont do bench dont worry. just wondering pal
keep up the good work.

i hit a 100kg clean and jerk this week, took 15 attempts, at 70kg bodyweight.
pretty pleased, clean was no problem as i got it every single time, need to work on them jerks and getting under while punching it up. ive been training with power jersk lately and attempted the 100kg at split jerk, so was a bit strange. but fact is i can still put up more weight split, more room for error.
i enjoy training more with power and squat jerks though. im not competing any time soon so just having fun

4/1/11 - Friday

Press: 160 lbs x 3,3,3,3,3
Chin: 75 lbs x 3,3,3,3,3
Push press: 180x3, 200x3, 210x2,2,2
Barbell curl: 75 lbs+band x 10,10,10,10,10

Thanks! I weigh 187-190 lbs My max squat is 330, I almost got 335 on Friday but didn’t hit it. Max front squat is 305, bench was 250 but I am sure I can hit 260 at least now (last max attempt was months ago), I don’t bench often though, deadlift 440 hook gripped (not that that part matters but I like to say it), strict press 165. All in lbs.

Snatch 90 kg and clean and jerk 120 kg. Cleaned 129.

Damn, 15 attempts to clean and jerk! I couldn’t even try that, I would be so tired. Snatches, maybe, not clean and jerks.

4/3/11 - Sunday

Warm up, stretch
Snatch: 40x3, 50x3, 60x2, 65x2, 70x2,1, 75x1, 80x0,1, 85x0,0,0,0,1
C+J: 65x2, 80x1, 90x1,1, 97x1, 102x1, 107x0,1
Back squat: 152x5,4,4,4,3

Olifts felt like shit today. Just didn’t feel smooth, and technique felt off. Bar kept feeling like it was trying to get away from me. Squats felt pretty solid though.

Alec

Yesterday, Saturday, I was going to do some heavy singles with snatch/c&j. My technique ended up sucking, so I stopped, lowered the weight to 40-50%, and did some reps to figure it out.

Then I remembered Don McCauley telling me to do a halting snatch/clean deadlift as a technique exercise (search on catalyst athletics website), as well as a strengthening exercise for the all important postural muscles. So I did a halting snatch deadlift for 2 reps, with light weight, then did a regular snatch on the 3rd rep, trying to match what I did on the halting snatch deadlift, technique-wise. The snatch reps were fucking amazing, and perfect form, to say the least. I felt like Chigishev, but 155 lbs was on the bar, instead of 400+. :stuck_out_tongue:

So my advice to anyone… if your technique feels retarded in training, throw in some halting snatch or clean deadlifts, focusing on form, and then do your snatches and cleans again, and see what happens… It works for me, and now I feel that I can do each snatch and clean rep identically each time, as long as I don’t stray too far away from a halting snatch or clean deadlift.

I wish I read your post before my workout tonight! My technique sucked all around  Tomorrow. Got some new bruises I think

yup. sometimes when it has been awhile, it’ll take me a bit to get in that groove again, like yesterday.

-40 x 3
-50 x 3
-60 x 2
-70 x 1
-75 x 1, 1 -first attempt at comp
-80 x 1 -second attempt

Clean and Jerk:

-110 x 1 -second attempt

Front Squat:
-135 lbs x 4
-225 x 3, 3, 3 (went really light on this)

Notes:
-cut the workout and volume WAY short because of two reasons: 1. Peaking for the competition over the weekend and want to be in perfect condition; 2. I have a test review at 8 pm and can’t afford to be in the gym till 7:45.

I am pretty sure I will be going 75, 80, 85/90 and 105, 110, 115/120 on Saturday. If all goes well lol
