wtf is this???

10/4/10

So I was really exited about my back squat PRs that I decided to max out again on 10/6/10… so today I did a heavy work set.
-Back Squat: 315lbs 2x5
—heavy as hell

Pull ups:
-13 (some kipping at the end), 8reps

That’s it…
[/quote]
Barski snatch/cleans are hard as hell, especially at 75%. A Barski snatch is 3 mid-thigh squat snatches without dropping the bar, and without straps. So you have to adjust your grip each rep. Let’s just say it is really hard to stay tight on the third rep when you are at 75% of max.

yeah I can’t do those… my hands sweat and I loose the bar after the 2nd rep.

Yeah exactly, I can do it with cleans (I’m hoping, we’ll see Wednesday), but I couldn’t do it with snatches because not only does my grip come loose, but I use a 30mm bench bar Mon-Fri. Those 2mm make a big difference, heh.

10/5/10

Back Squat - 80% x 5 x 5 - 300 lbs

10/6/10

Like I said, last week I really felt strong coming off the back squat cycle… so this week I pushed it again and got new PRs

fucking awesome…

So yeah… if any of you are stuck and can’t lift more weight. Drop all heavy pulling off the floor, and do the Russian Back Squat Cycle.

Note: Some days you will only squat. Take your fish oil, ZMA, sleep 8+hrs, massage/foam roll your lower back, and stretch. Also do Abz almost every day. Your lower back will thank you, and will let you hit PRs.

It’s fine man  I never lift with straps and use to do pulls without straps and now I just don’t do pulls at all!

You get use to it.

Koing

10/7/10

Barski Clean - 75% x 3 x 3 - 220 lbs

Clean Deadlift - 100%+20kg x 3 x 2 - 330 lbs

Prowler - high handles, 90 lbs - 30yd x 10 trips

10/7/10

Wrestling with the Univ.'s Wrestling CLUB (not the team).

My friend, also a weightlifter (snatches 130kg as an 85kg), does the coaching. I will be going there once a week. Later, once my body is used to it better I will go 2x a week. My goal is to be able to do it 2x a week, and then some high-hang Oli Lifts, or Squats after. But I have to let my body get used to that work load.

So for today it was wresting only… tomorrow back to Oly Lifting & Front Squats.

10/8/10

Front Squat - 85% x 3 x 6 - 270 lbs

Back Squat - 70% x 3 x 6 - 265 lbs

4 rounds - 12 Chin-ups + 24 double unders - chin-ups were 10/6/5/5

Nice work with the squat. You look like you’ve put on some size over the past several months. You look like you weigh in the upper 190s. Are you an 85 or 94 lifter?

thx… I knew that to keep making progress I needed to get my strength up. That meant increase the back squat (old PR was 305lbs).

I am hovering in 195lbs-198lbs. Last meet I went to in late July (KeyStone Games in PA) I was in the 85kg’s after dropping weight. I still had to do last minute running to sweat off water weight.

10/8/10

3 position Snatch:
-like in Glenn Pendlay’s videos
-up to 55kg x3

3 position Clean:
-up to 65kg x3

Front Squat:
-115kg 2x5
—man, I gotta get used to having the bar in front of me after 6+1/2weeks of back squats.

next week, I start Olifting heavy again from floor.

What’s up with this? As a former wrestler myself, seems to me like wrestling only provides a severe and negative stimulus towards your weightlifting training.

Also, good job on the squat PB.

I’ll be shipping out to Boot Camp on January 31st. So I need to do more than running to build up endurance.

Also I won’t be cutting weight or any of that for wrestling. It is a club, so we don’t really compete.

Boot camp is for the Marines! You’re going to Basic son!!!

Ah, gotcha.

Good on you for joining up. Just about anyone in the military has my utmost respect (there’s always that oddball or two who’s still not worthy of much respect no matter what he does).

shit… I’ve always used both terms.

10/11/10

So I wanted to lift on 10/9/10, since my GF is doggy-sitting in a house where the couple just bought a platform, squat stands, and a bench. But we are only together on weekends so… didn’t happen (plus there was an X-box 360 with Gears of War, that didn’t help)

Clean off Boxes:
–90kg 1,1…1,1…1,1…1,0,1

Clean Pulls:
-up to 115kg 2x2
—gotta pick up the speed!

Back Squat:
-up to 315lbs 2reps
—that shit was super hard, I almost missed the 2nd rep. I didn’t 'cause 3plates is too pretty a weight to miss.
—But I could not do the other 2sets, I felt fried

Stretch 'em legs.

Just call it active recovery. That shit’s important.
