Ohio State v. LSU

BW, I agree 100%

I really dont have that much of a dog in the fight, Arkansas is pretty much middle of the pack in the SEC so it doesnt matter what OSU does since it probably wont have any bearing on us making it to the motor city bowl. (cotton bowl this year tho!)

pfft…

I’ve watched every snap OU has had this decade, so I can recognize schoolings when they happen. 55-19, 35-7, and 45-12 were schoolings.

34-27 was a tight loss under unfortunate circumstances.

Of course, 60-15 and 56-25 were some serious schoolings too…

middle of the pack now but with petrino (sp?) i bet ya not for long. Say what you want about how he left Atlanta but I don’t blame him for doing that, I’m glad to see him in the college ranks again and he’s going to make Arkansas a contender.

right now half of the BCS conferences don’t have conf. title games (PAC10, B10,B.E.) the other half does. This is further proof how messed up D1…wait I mean “FBS” college football is. College BB has a conf. tourney and a national tourney.

The Big 10’s been wanting a conf title game but the only team they gun for as #12 is ND and god forbid they come in cause that would mean they’d lose their fat contracts. I’ve always said that WV or Iowa State should come in to the Big Ten. I’ve even heard reporters throw Mizzou in the mi as well. So it’s not like the Big Ten doesn’t want one.

And the Big East…Well in order for them to get a title game they’d have to ship in a lot more mid-majors which would further dilute their already thin talent pool conference. Rutgers, USF, and UConn do show glimmers of hope in the long run to bringing it back to the dog fight it was when VT, Miami, and BC were in it.

Pac-10 needs to bring in BYU, they are perhaps one of the most tradition rich mid-major schools and need to be in a BCS conference IMO, who the 12th team would be, I have no clue.

Clearly has a lot to do with football.

“Hint, us cold weather folk think southerners are candyasses about the cold. Now just imagine a playoff series with home filed advantage for the top seeds in the first two rounds of a sixteen team playoff. That would be interesting.”

This is such a weak point, I have no prob with the homefield advantage thing, but for fucksake both teams play in the same condition weather wise so thats lame.

I do agree that we need a playoff big time.[/quote]

I’ve seen plenty of warm weather teams and pro teams fold in cold and inclement weather. Granted , it happens more in the pros, but the home team will be more use to it.

The point being made is the opinion that this area conference etc. is better thatn some other area.

I’ve heard for years about “southern speed”, like somehow people are faster below the Mason Dixon line.

Being a PSU fan, I’ve heard this sillyness for about 35 years or so. And in that time and slightly before their lameass northern Coach has like 23 bowl victories with a 2/3 winning %.

Good football is played everywhere. Teams in the big ten aren’t necessarily slow. It would be like if I said southern teams are weak based on my PSU watching. I’ve seen them just run over some teams late in the game, like Tennessee last year.

If the weather was that big of a deal, then why do teams like Ohio State, ND, Wisconsin, and Michigan constantly recruit in CA, TX, LA, and FL? It would only make sense that they wouldnt want players from warm weather climates to come play in the cold weather. Not trying to be a prick, but I just dont buy into the weather arguement, A good player is a good player if all is equal on both sides of the field.

Practicing in the cold makes all the difference.

Most big time college programs have indoor facilities for inclement weather, no way OSU goes out and practices when its snowing, they have million dollar facilities built for these times. Plus, I wont speak for every college, but I know that the Univ. of Ark has a rule in place stating that no athletic team can practice outdoors if the weather drops below 25 degrees.

Plenty of teams occasionally practice outdoors just to get used to the cold weather even though they have an indoor facility.

Add that to just being out in the cold every day and it gives northern teams a marked advantage in the snow and cold. Plus players on northern teams are selected to play in that weather (especially the pros).

Glenn Dorsey did up until he got injured about halfway through the season.

I will give you that it may provide a small advantage, but you have to agree that more often than not two teams playin in shitty weather both play pretty shitty sloppy football. Once again the weather has no roll in Arkansas sucking so I really dont care that much, we could play on the moon and we would probably still lose.

If you could all vote for the #1 and #2 team who would you guys pick?

Not a clue who deserves # 1 and # 2. That is why a playoff is needed.

I can’t stand Les Miles…

LSU probably wins, but in a close game.

Spurred by a discussion earlier today, a couple of my friends and I tried to apply the BCS’s selection process logic to the NFL this year. Here’s what we came up with:

BCS title game:
New England vs. Green Bay
Like the NCAA, this selection would also cause controversy. We went with Green Bay to avoid a regular season rematch with either the Colts or Cowboys. The only other team that was considered was Jacksonville, but losing their final game cost them their shot at the title.

Orange Bowl:
Indianapolis vs. Dallas
Season ending losses hurt any chance of bucking the avoid-the-rematch trend and getting either team into the title game. This is especially true for Dallas, who has lost 2 of 3.

Fiesta Bowl:
San Diego vs. Washington
The Giants’ season ending loss and Washington’s four game winning streak give the Skins the nod over the G-men. Not to mention, Washington just beat the Giants three weeks ago.

Sugar Bowl:
Pittsburgh vs. Tennessee
Two AFC teams battle here, giving the AFC six teams to the NFC’s four in the BCS bowls. There was some controversy as to whether Cleveland should be selected above the Steelers here. Pittsburgh’s sweep of the Browns was the deciding factor.

Rose Bowl:
Jacksonville vs. Seattle
Tampa Bay becomes the only division winner to not make a BCS bowl game. Their play over the last months proves they don’t belong.

Now, keep in mind this was just a half-drunken conversation and not to be taken too seriously. We gave no consideration to any bowl’s allegiance to conferences, for example: the Big 10 and Pac-10 winners facing off in the Rose Bowl. We did avoid any rematches from the regular season, but of course, because of fewer teams, this makes even less sense in the NFL. In any event, I think most of these games would be exciting and fun match ups.

GEAUX TIGERS, WOOOOO!

I’ve got nothing really intelligent or insightful to add, but we’re going to beat the Buckeyes like they’re an unwanted step-child.

Edit: Addendum: Adult Swim Shows

Cartoons are awesome.

Exactly. It takes you some time to get used to the cold.
