PORTUGAL: Because who really wants to see the Brazilians win again?
They have a brazillian manager, and a player born in brazil (deco) and they speak the same language. How about England winning it?

Nontheless, I’d like to stress that Germany is super motivated and will surely surprisea lot of guys here. We’re gonna take that title!

NO! Too many weaknesses in your defence, as evidenced in the Costa Rica match.
We’ll see about that in 4 hours…

The thread needs a few pictures!

And another one:

Not so hot, but very dynamic:

The previous pics just go to prove that Brazil always arrive with the most eye-catching talent!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! DAMNIT! FUCK! POES!

What a close game that was with Poland vs Germany.

That last goal was just on time for the Germans - good goal too.

Lucky bastards.

Isn’t this the same shit England fans say in every international tournament?

Overrated. As usual. The core of this team has been together since 2000 and they haven’t done shit.

Judging by the performance turned in against Paraguay it doesn’t look like that streak is going to end any time soon.

“On paper” means fuck all.

The only two teams that have impressed so far after the first match day are Spain and the Czech Republic.

Germany may have no defense - but they know how to win games - something that can’t be said for the English - and playing on home soil, that is HUGE. It is plain stupid to discount the Germans in this tournament.

This is fucking ominus. I have a funny feeling regarding Germany and its not a good one.

Same goes for the midfield too, with arguably one of the best players in the world at the moment. Pele actually said that Gerrard has been the best player in the world over the last 5 years. Beckham has the crosses and a great understanding with Neville, and Joe Cole has the left side locked down.

No, it’s not the same crap. We have always said that we have some class, but it’s never been comparable to Brazil or France until now. We were pretty unlucky to go out the last world cup (lucky goal) and the last euro (referee declaring our perfectly good goal offside) with lesser squads. We have the best defense in the tournament by a decent margin IMO and some of the best midfielders, if not the best midfield overall. Only Brazil can really compare in that department. Since 2000 players like Lampard, Terry, Joe Cole etc. have become infinitely better than they were and are now truly world class. Gerrard would get into any team and Rooney… well let’s hope he’s fit enough because he is virtually as good as anyone. The team spirit and drive is top notch, and there is a ton of experience behind them all. There has never been a better prepared England side. Hopefully we will live a bit more upto expectations tomorrow, we should whoop T+TB.

Funny how you said that Germany know how to win games - surely England do too? We won plenty in qualifying and have 1/1 so far in the world cup, soon to be 2/2 after tomorrow. Paraguay are better opposition than Germany have played so far, yet we played pathetic and won. Brazil also played pretty poorly, would you say they are over-rated and have no chance? Germany definitely have the advantage of home soil, but I don’t think they have the quality to win it. Ballack and Klose are maybe their only real world class players IMO.

Spain are looking good though after one game. Finally they might live upto their potential on paper which they so often disappoint with. It’s all good talking about performances so far but one game really doesn’t a mean a great deal.

One thing though - does anyone else apart from Thierry Henry and me think they need to water the damn pitches?!? It’s dry as a bone out there and the ball is so slow along the turf.

To fully celebrate our victory, let us feast with our eyes on the women of our soon-to-be-defeated opponents.

Still hungry?

Dessert.

i want me one of those.

‘Kann ich Ihnen meine Wurst zeigen?’

man, im so smoooooooooooth.

I will always root for the U.S.

BUT…

After seeing their level of play (or lack there of), coupled with a rough group, I can’t hold much hope for them to move on.

Normally I watch as many of the first round games as I can and pick my favorites by what I see. This year I am doing something different. I am instituting what I call the racism index. I will cheer for whichever team in a match seems to have to have the least racist fans (or at least vocal ones). From recent articles (last year or so) I will wish destruction upon Portugal, Spain, Germany, France, etc. (Seriously, how do Frenchman yell racial insults at the best French player in the last 10 years?).

If you feel that I have insulted your country of origin, I am sorry, but terrible fans commit the insult, not me.

oh by the way in general I want the Czechs to win (good old logic of rooting for the team that beat you)

There’s a lot of US bashing going on.
Has everyone forgotten their impressive run in the last World Cup?
Or their FIFA ranking?
The US had a bas game, but they’re no longer a joke.

Of course, even if the US won the World Cup, everyone would continue to bash them.
