Officer Rivieri

Fourteen is not preteen.

Great way to ruin your life over a skateboard.

the whole shit was on tape? not too likely. your little brother got thrown around by a grown man, and that’s ok? Even if it’s a cop you need to do what’s right once in a while.

jesus.

You think knocking some teeth out of a police officers skull over him berating a skateboarder is the proper way to go about resolving the situation?

You wouldn’t attempt to intervene and ask what the problem was, or otherwise deflect the anger of Rivieri from the child onto yourself? You would simply run in swinging haymakers at an already pissed of individual who not only has a weapon, but is trained to use it?

The kid’s life was not in danger during this encounter. Escalating the situation to outright physical violence would have certainly hurt him (and you) more than it would have helped.

If you REALLY want to stick up for your brother - knowing this is being taped - step in and attempt to be the voice of reason and try to RESOLVE the situation in a way that doesn’t involve assaulting an officer. Try speaking with him in an intelligent manner in order to juxtapose his irrational anger with your level-headed reasoning - on tape.

THAT makes him look a hell of a lot worse in this situation and digs his hole a hell of a lot deeper than you running in there with your fists windmilling. The last thing you would want to do is create ANOTHER situation that could potentially be used to overshadow what transpired on the youtube video.
yelling at him is TOTALLY different. If he just yelled at him it wouldn’t of been a big deal. THere is NO WAY I would even consider putting myself or anyone out there like that over yelling. When he ATTACKED the kid, that’s when the problem arises. Imagine if it had been at night and no on where around? That guy is a nutjob and I wouldn’t put it past him to seriously injure someone.

I agree though, that if there was a good amount goign on before the video, then the situation is a little less bad. I would of kicked my his ass myself for not obeying an officer like that.

edit: I was assuming not much had gone on before the video started. If they were cocking off to an officer, they got what they had coming, and more.

Haha I saw that 14 year old skater video a while back. That guy is such a fucking prick. He deserves to be put in his place.

Thankfully I heard on the news a week or so ago that he is being investigated. Hope he gets fired.

These are people who have the authority to use deadly force if necessary. But with that comes discretion, and I question their ability to use discretion if you get that upset over a kid riding a skateboard. If you are that hot headed, you should not be a cop, because your temper impairs your judgment. Something you don’t want when possessing a gun.
Exactly.

If a person is too fat to run, they shouldn’t be a cop. If a person is illiterate they shouldn’t be a cop. If a person has no self control, ie can’t act professionally when dealing with a 14 year old (and a pussy of a 14yo at that), then they shouldn’t be a cop.
zephead4747 wrote:

He did not attack the kid. He tried to take the skateboard, and the kid clutched on to it as though it were for dear life. There is a big difference.

Want to see how bad life can get really fast? Hit a cop. It is lose lose. Go after him, get him fired, suspended or whatever.

Best advice I ever got. If they have a badge it is yes sir and no sir. There is no other response. It has saved me on more than one occasion. Of course it sucked but I have saved time and money going military for guys who think they are emboldened by the badge.

I love how the logical reaction is to kick the cop’s ass…

You do not know what happened before the camera was turned on. He asked for the skateboard before he got physical. I’ve seen posts on here saying “Cops do not get respect because they are not a threat and could not beat up my grandma.” I do agree cops do not get the respect they deserve which the video is a perfect example. Then a cop takes a skateboard away from some punk ass kid who didn’t listen the first time and you guys are acting like he beat this kid to death.

The whole “fuck the cops” thing is stupid. The same people would call the cops first if their house was being robbed or something of that nature.

No, i would shoot the robber with the .38 specials loaded in my 357 Magnum. THEN i would call the cops. They take too long to get anywhere. Even in my town , which is around one square mile, it takes the cop up to ten minutes to get somewhere, unbelievably.

the kids reaction is so typical of the overall attitude that young teens have these days.

like other posters said you dont know what happend BEFORE.

quote from the cop
“what you guys were doin will get you guys killed by somebody”…

you will never hear what actually happend so give him a break and use common sense.

Listen to what the first kid said:
“yeah i was trying to tell him but he had his earplugs in.”

So, all that happened beforehand was the cop told him to stop skateboarding. The cop wasn’t pissed at this point, so i don’t think the whole “we didn’t see the whole thing” argument holds water. the film starts with the cop about five feet from his car, and if he was coming back for a 2nd time, he’d be pissed, like he was later in the video.

and then he proceeded to shove the kid back onto the ground when the kid started to get up. even if your original argument was correct, that he just wanted the skateboard, that doesn’t justify the 2nd push.

Listen to what the officer begins to say the last 5 seconds of the video

Good point, would the officer have behaved the same if he knew he was being filmed. Probably not, because he knew how much of a bitch he was behaving. I am not against cops, just BAD cops, like this one. The cop took the whole personally. You can tell when he says not to call him dude or man. He is allowed to call him that. The cop has no self confidence in his ability whatsoever. To punk a 14 yr old skateboarder when you have a badge, that kid pulled the cop’s bitch card.

“First of all, you better learn how to speak. I’m not ‘man’, I’m not ‘dude’. I am Officer. Rivieri. Now, the sooner you learn that, the longer you’re gonna live in this world. 'Cause you go around doing this kind of stuff, somebody is going to kill you.”

This is the quote from the cop. He wasn’t speaking as to what the kids were doing before the tape began rolling, he was commenting on the way the kid was speaks (ie, saying ‘man’ and ‘dude’, apparently) is going to get him killed.

isn’t that Baltimore? sorry if it’s been posted, I haven’t read the thread.

A question for all of you:

if that kid who got tackled was your little brother, would you have fucked up the cop?

If that kid was my son - I would kick my son’s ass for being so disrespectful.

The kid was a little bitch. He needed a lot more than getting tackled.
How was he disrespectful? Are you serious? I’m not even going to cover what was said, but how you can have such a skewed reaction as that makes me wonder.

some of you people amaze me.

Did you watch the video? What do you think happened before filming started.

A. The kid was saying “fuck you” to the cop and kept skating

B. The kid probably not hearing the officer kept skating, to later say sorry I didn’t hear you dude.

Think about it, from the way the kid was acting do you actually think it was A?

Being in Baltimore I’m sure the guy deals witha lot of shit, but that’s no excuse for flying off the handle.

While I don’t care for kids skateboarding everywhere, he didn’t do a damn thing wrong. That cop just needs to get over his powertrip and start worrying about real issues.

His job is to carry out the will of the people and protect us. Did he really think he was doing either why trying to bust this 14 year old’s balls?

skating in the inner-harbor will get you killed? really? I know Baltimore is rough, but I doubt that it will get them killed.

Maybe if there were on the streets and not the inner-harbor and called a native of B-more dude numerous times, I could see that being true.

It’s probably B. I’m sure that no one actually takes this douche bag seriously on the streets. As a result he probably thought kids were treating him like a joke again, which he is.
