Obituary: The Great Antonio

Standing 6’5" and weighing 450-500 pounds, the Great Antonio, (Barichievich, 1925-2002), strongman and wrestler, passed away this week of a heart attack. Originally from the former Yugoslavia, Barichievich came to Montreal, Quebec in 1946.

He astounded Montrealers with feats of strength, such as pulling four city buses full of people and a train loaded with lead for 65 feet.

He died alone and penniless.

Rest in peace.

MD, I was going to post something about this. He was a legend to Montrealers. In his day people thought he was as big and strong as they come. Hell of a showman and a good person to boot.

I will observe a moment of silence for a fellow giant.
