Obama Victory Thread

Nice, I love me some Looney Tunes, Merri Melodies, all that good shit…oops I cussed, lol.

Well Aragorn I am warmed by your kind words. Thank you. Will you please email me. If you’re not going to, just say so. I am not picking a fight with you. I promise.

Tirib I dont know that I will. I honestly don’t have much in the way of an inclination to get in heavy discussion as I used to. Or the time, to be honest, but mostly the inclination. With you it always eventually comes back around to phrases like “whoring generation” and subjects like predestinstion, and while they may be accurate I have a hard time discussing delicate matters with someone who was involved in the “Romans 2” thread debacle. I don’t have the patience of a brother Chris.

I had always meant to PM you back w.r.t. Corinthians because I very much dislike saying I am going to do something and not getting it done, but I have been pretty used up in all manner since that original PM and just didn’t have the mental energy to put down my thesis on your question. W.r.t. Forgetting about the past as you said in your other post, I can try. I however am cursed with a long and associative memory which sadly does not obey my will. That does not mean there is ill will, it just means I dont want to get sucked down the vortex again.

I dont have the energy. You pour too much energy into these things, and while I used to be like you, I have just hit the ennui stage lately. However, as before the primary consideration holding me back is “Romans 2” thread land and my lack of desire to get bogged down in a heavy detailed back and forth plays a semi-close second. As I said I do not have the patience of a brothee Chris.

I may email you, but I wouldn’t place odds at the moment.

Another note is that if I were to email you, it just isn’t high on the priority list right now in terms of “things I have to do today and tomorrow”. I do however understand your good intentions.

I also seem to understand that my “smartphone” touchpad isn’t nesrly as smart as I would like it to be, judging by typos tonight.

Don’t you be gittin all grumpy now because our people want a Marxist for their president.
I just think the direction this thread took is not exactly wholly in line with the spirit of the topic of the thread. It’s also been discussed in many, many threads before this one.

Not trying to be rude. Just being honest.

Well, in the spirit of the thread, I owe " you were right"s to groo, jnd, and sufi. Good call gentlemen. I really didn’t see that coming, at least not in as dramatic a fashion.

Second highest corporate tax rate in the world. The government owns you.

Oh, speaking seriously, I KNOW this. My sole reason for continued growth at this point in my career is the ability to help more and more students inprove their lives. Every single extra yen we make is quickly snatched away from us to build another bridge to nowhere. When Zeb talks about not hiring and purposely suppressing business growth, I absolutely understand what he is talking about.

Not sure if serious…

I think he was and I concur.

Classy move. Despite how nasty this seemed to get, for me it was always about the math.

So Academia is to blame now? I fail to see how an educated and trained populace leads to moral bankruptcy in and of itself. What degrees did you earn btw?
To be fair American college kids are blogging and campaigning for gay rights, no slut-shaming and fat acceptance. They are not campaigning or writing about sensible Ron Paul policies.

Also academic is a few years behind current events. The senior academics who are 50-60 now, would have spent their formative teens-twenties in the 70s and 80s. THere isn’t even a mature historiography (economically or politically) of the 80s and 90s. So people aren’t being educated on Americas immediate past, and thus not particularly able to form educated opinions about the present or the future. You can see this with a college population focused on feminism, abortion, civil rights and race - all of which are rather old hat. It’ll be 10-20 years before the education responds to the reality of the 90s and the 2000s.

Nope. That was the minute Bush took office, lost millions of jobs, 17 American factories closed, and the worst terror attack on American soil happened on his watch.

I didn’t vote for either.

Two terrible candidates. A filthy rich Mormon telling me he understands the plight of the poor and middle class. Then on the other hand, you have a man who is largely all hype, who supports entitlements, and is anti-small business.

Blame Bush, it’s the American way!

Im reading this thread later today to see all the people calling this outcome. Some sort of doomsday

Its gonna be hilarious i bet.

haha Love Ace of Spades. Good for a little comic relief as I try and rationalize the fear of my children’s future:

[i]Alternative View: Let It Burn

?Andy

Very nice words from Gabe below. Very nice.

But as a high-income-a/k/a-1%-American who has never cheated on his taxes before, I have another message.

Fuck. You.

I’ve been paying AMT for, oh, five years now: 28% marginal on a lower base plus a state rate of 5.3%. The “Bush Tax Rates” that Obama talks about … oh, wait. He forgot about the AMT. He made out like the “rich” were paying ridiculously low tax rates.

Well, if you’re “rich” and still earn a living from real work and happen to live in a high wage/high tax state, this isn’t the case at all. You’ve been paying the AMT too.

So welcome to your red-state tax increase, folks. Your blue-state brethren voted that you should be taxed more. And they’re right! As it goes, anyway.

Because this folly won’t fall on me. I’m at a high enough rate as it is. And the incentive to cheat just went way up. The IRS charges a much lower interest rate than I’d ever have to pay from holding “the government’s” money for a while, so my income model just got another line called “tax float”.

Arbitrage, 99%ers, do you speak it?

You like your big government, assholes? Pay for it. But I’ll have a chair when the music stops.

I encourage all similarly-situated Americans to do the same.

You idiots that reelected Obama, and elected Warren and the like, can’t vote yourselves an infinite slice of my wallet. I’ll always be one step ahead of you.

A large amount of money will be moved to offshore tax havens between now and 12/31. Also, watch dividend-paying stocks. A ton of money’s about to be distributed in advance of the return-to-Boooosh!!11! tax rates plus the new Obamacare tax on investment income.

Oh, and it’s my birthday. Instead of spending it happily effing off, I’ll spend it moving money. Point. Click. Done. So, happy.

Also, FWIW, Dow futures are down ~100 points on “hope” as I write this.

[Update] Apologies if this is too ranty. I’m just pissed at the idiots that are stealing my hard-earned money.

He was pretty bad. Like a subsitute teacher that didnt know what was going on…just sittin and lookin…letting all the big kids do what that wanted.

He would give those kids candy and hall passes all willy nilly just as long as they brought him back a few burgers back from lunch.

It seems that blaming the black guy is the American way.
