Tirib I dont know that I will. I honestly don’t have much in the way of an inclination to get in heavy discussion as I used to. Or the time, to be honest, but mostly the inclination. With you it always eventually comes back around to phrases like “whoring generation” and subjects like predestinstion, and while they may be accurate I have a hard time discussing delicate matters with someone who was involved in the “Romans 2” thread debacle. I had always meant to PM you back w.r.t. Corinthians because I very much dislike saying I am going to do something and not getting it done, but I have been pretty used up in all manner since that original PM and just didn’t have the mental energy to put down my thesis on your question. To be fair American college kids are blogging and campaigning for gay rights, no slut-shaming and fat acceptance. They are not campaigning or writing about sensible Ron Paul policies.
Also academic is a few years behind current events. The senior academics who are 50-60 now, would have spent their formative teens-twenties in the 70s and 80s. THere isn’t even a mature historiography (economically or politically) of the 80s and 90s. So people aren’t being educated on Americas immediate past, and thus not particularly able to form educated opinions about the present or the future. You can see this with a college population focused on feminism, abortion, civil rights and race - all of which are rather old hat. It’ll be 10-20 years before the education responds to the reality of the 90s and the 2000s.
