Obama Victory Thread

Well as a young person who makes just enough to not get anything from the government and works for a small/medium business; I’m a bit worried. Annual review is coming up. I wonder if everyone’s raise just got smaller.

Nope. That was the minute Bush took office, lost millions of jobs, 17 American factories closed, and the worst terror attack on American soil happened on his watch.
Blame Bush, it’s the American way!
It seems that blaming the black guy is the American way.

The truth of the matter is both of the two Presidents being addressed here deserve less of the blame than they both get.

But it is okay, assume anyone who thinks Bam did a bad job is racist…

Mine didn’t, but I know a lot of people’s who did. And I know a lot of people’s whos tax bill just went up, and it isn’t just the “millionaires and billionaries”

Very nice words from Gabe below. Very nice.

But as a high-income-a/k/a-1%-American who has never cheated on his taxes before, I have another message.

Fuck. You.

I’ve been paying AMT for, oh, five years now: 28% marginal on a lower base plus a state rate of 5.3%. The “Bush Tax Rates” that Obama talks about … oh, wait. He forgot about the AMT. He made out like the “rich” were paying ridiculously low tax rates.

Well, if you’re “rich” and still earn a living from real work and happen to live in a high wage/high tax state, this isn’t the case at all. You’ve been paying the AMT too.

So welcome to your red-state tax increase, folks. Your blue-state brethren voted that you should be taxed more. And they’re right! As it goes, anyway.

Because this folly won’t fall on me. I’m at a high enough rate as it is. And the incentive to cheat just went way up. The IRS charges a much lower interest rate than I’d ever have to pay from holding “the government’s” money for a while, so my income model just got another line called “tax float”.

Arbitrage, 99%ers, do you speak it?

You like your big government, assholes? Pay for it. But I’ll have a chair when the music stops.

I encourage all similarly-situated Americans to do the same.

You idiots that reelected Obama, and elected Warren and the like, can’t vote yourselves an infinite slice of my wallet. I’ll always be one step ahead of you.

A large amount of money will be moved to offshore tax havens between now and 12/31. Also, watch dividend-paying stocks. A ton of money’s about to be distributed in advance of the return-to-Boooosh!!11! tax rates plus the new Obamacare tax on investment income.

Oh, and it’s my birthday. Instead of spending it happily effing off, I’ll spend it moving money. Point. Click. Done. So, happy.

Also, FWIW, Dow futures are down ~100 points on “hope” as I write this.

[Update] Apologies if this is too ranty. I’m just pissed at the idiots that are stealing my hard-earned money.

I just loved that. People seem to think that the elected officials are going to somehow curtail smart wealthy people from beating the system, as they project their own qualities onto the rich, as if they live in the same world.

History has shown that “the rich”, to use a vague term, as is all the rage these days, will always be one step ahead of the regulations. The middle class will not be. Thus an intended “rationally self interested” middle class vote, was exactly the opposite.

I voted to change the system, and I lost. Thus, I study how to beat the system with the rules that have been or will be put in place.

If it makes you feel any better, had Romney won, the Obama supporters would be feeling the same way. And they would have been wrong as well.

It is telling that the first guy to call everyone who doesn’t agree with him a racist is the only one to bring up race. Kind of like when you are the only person in a group who laughs, and every smiles and shifts their eyes uncomfortably away.

Also, I love how all these ass-clowns come out of the woodwork to gloat AFTER the election is over. As beans has already pointed out, we’ve been here every day talking about this for five months now. Where the hell were all of you?

That’s why they’re rich. And believing anything other than that the rich are rich because the rich know HOW to make money is the reason the poor are poor.

Busy having a life.

Congratulatons to the Democrats - they deserve it, with solid wins all over the place.

Now, comes the hard part. The American people hired the Democrats to govern America out of a very, very bad mess that continues to get worse. Winning is great - governing? We’ll see.

Ya no kidding. I guess the dot-com bubble was his fault too, right? Hell Enron and Worldcom, definitly on Bush. I wish he had done something. Maybe he can call his buddy Sarbanes up and come up with some regulation, it’s never too late

I’d say Pearl Harbor is the worst terror attack ever. At least Bush actually did something about 9/11. I guess Obama gets a free pass on Libya.

Feel free to carry on doing so.

Hmm.

He won the electoral college vote.

He won the popular vote.

I guess that the American people are a bit brighter as a whole than the sample I see on T-Nation.

Well done America.

The GOP either has to change their rhetoric or accept that they will never have a President elected again. Look at the demographic breakdown of this country, a lower % of white voters every 4 years, fewer states with significant white voter majorities, the numbers say it all, if the GOP wants to remain relevant they need to address the growing #'s of non-traditional GOP voters out there (hint: no more talk of walls or self-deportation, no more fat talk show hosts joking about “Gubamint Cheese” or calling women “Prostitutes” because they want contraception covered in their health insurance, no more idiotic comments about rape and the female body.).

However the GOP has made a concerted effort to narrow their base throughout the primary season (hoping that nobody would notice on election day) and it has, once again, bitten them on the ass. As bad as things are in the US today, it is pretty telling that more people chose Obama than Romney, Oh well.

Yeah, look at the bright side, maybe now Obama will be impeached and forced to resign. Then he won’t be the President anymore, and…Biden will…

Oh, wait…

@ Counting Beans, I have been thinking about what you said in regards to corporate branding and I could not agree more. I remember reading in Steve Job’s biography that he predicited that innovative marketing that reaches the masses will find its way into political campaigns. Obama gets the necessity of corporate branding and Jobs argues that marketers like Lee Clout will eventually find there way into political campaigns. Obama gets the idea of 'forward", “hope”, and “change” and how these terms resonate with people. He gets the necessity in investing in online campaigns, iconic imagery, and strategic marketing.

The whole robocalling is antiquated and the old guard of the Republican party must realize that being right is only 3% and the other 97% is how you sell it.

Regardless of who won, marketing is a necessity as it creates a corporate identity. Just look at Price Waterhouse Coopers and “I support moms” campaign. That is a terrible campaign that does not even inform the viewer what the company does or produces. Marketing creates an emotional bond with a company (brand affiliation).

Here’s another one, with just as little class as FI. He’s gone for months and then drops in just to jiggle his sexy parts in our faces and gloat.

What do you want, someone to rub your belly and scratch you behind the ears?
