I saw his show all the way through earlier today and found myself nodding quite a bit.
He can be whiny. He can be funny. He has his shtick. But he IS right much of the time.
BTW, if any of you Beck haters think he is some kind of Republican mouthpiece you are greatly mistaken.
I have him on right now and I must say that the guy really does understand what’s going on this coutry.
I’m now watching a repeat of the show you watched earlier. The more I watch him the more I like him.
Now having said that, it is absolutely inevitable that some Beck haterz (who haven’t watched or read him) will get on here and go into a Linda Blair/The Exorcist head spin screaming about what a nut job Beck is. Don’t believe me? Watch and see…here it comes…any minute now…my bet is tme or Gambit Lost or the McCarter punk (all of them Yosemite Sam wannabes) will be checking in soon…my ear’s to the rail…I hear their clackety-clacks…
It’s kind of funny how Beck is a this that and the other while Bill Maher or anyone else who slops the liberal hogs with their own brand of garbage is somehow astute, insightful, or edgy but true.
And guys around here want to slap Beck with dicks or something gay like that. I don’t get it.

lol. I love you too push. And I’m sure the guy is a nutjob, but a “nutjob like a fox!”
Look what’s happened even on this thread: Beck says something extreme, a thread starts, a whole bunch of folks watch him who hadn’t before, and they start to like him…I bet his ratings go up and his career improves because of this (and because of folks like you and trib). That’s just the way things are in America today. You say extremist rhetoric on TV(/radio/internet) your career will improve.

How bout if you document for us some falsehoods that he has said on the air. I have seen him before in pieces, because at that time of the day I’m usually running around doing stuff. He is saying in large part what I’ve been saying for 20+ years so of course I’ll agree with him on the whole. Of course anything can be spun any which way, but from what I’ve seen his shows are well documented and his conclusions are well founded.
Here’s where liberals get that cross eyed stupid look of befuddlement on their faces because they can’t imagine that people can develop those views without brainwashing the same way they developed theirs. You know those right wing extremist lunatic fringe views that were once the mainstream middle in this country because that’s how it was founded.
I think Beck is certainly shock TV, but he is correct on many issues. I do like his position on many things, he does call it right IMO. For me, I believe in fiscal intelligence, and what I mean is that there are some things that are worth investing money in, but not wrecklessly like Obama. Obama thinks that the well he is going to is endless, and that is where the problem lies. I personally don’t like to borrow, as I do believe that the borrow is a slave to the lender. So borrowing more and more from China is just giving our country away. I would love for China to cut us off at some point, so Obama learns fiscal conservatism the hard way.
The first time I heard “buy things the way your grandmother did” it really struck a cord with me. Because people from older generations have the wisdom that people nowadays lack. Why are Republicans looked at like we are crazy for taking into account the cost of something? Because I care about how the gov’t spends my money, and the money of those like me? If you take my money, yes I EXPECT you to be responsible with it, and not piss it away on some stupid shit.
I don’t think Beck is shocking as much as the material he is talking about. I mean, the guy didn’t invent the shit out of thin air.

Because you can’t follow your own advice and only scream when a Democrat spends it. That’s called “hypocrisy.”

This is demonstrably false, even on this board. I could post 8 feet of links where people, including myself, have blasted Republicans for their idiotic spending.
To those who hate Beck, was he not on CNN’s payroll before he went to Fox? Would you left wing nutjobs think differently of his statement if he said them over those airwaves? Also just a note to those who may not know, he was once an Alcoholic.

this is unfounded, uncivil, and unnecessary
but this part of your post has helped me realize that it’s very difficult for non-Whites (or women) to be conservatives precisely because the good old days just weren’t that good for us. We lack those rose-tinted glasses with which you view the past, its laws, and its institutions.

I’ve never seen him, probably for the same reason as you. Is he on during the day? As for “documenting,” I really don’t have time or desire. However, when I did get home last night O’Reilly was on with Beck, never thought I’d see O’Reilly looking like a centrist before. I’m sure you can find some videos if you’d like, or do some sort of research. Do you need help using google?
Boy, how can I argue with this? Liberals are brainwashed and conservatives are “real.” Is that it? Sounds fair minded. I’m sure you’ll love Beck and his ilk.

It’s so wonderful having a revisionist history.
Why, I expect to you that for all the decades you likely have in mind, it was Republicans who had control of the Congress. Surely not Democrats, oh no!
Of course it isn’t the case at all that 80% of the time in 26 major civil rights votes between 1933 and 1964, a majority of Democrats voted against, while in 96% of these votes, Republicans voted for.
Why no, not at all.
It’s so happy living in a world where multiple Democratic Senators didn’t filibuster against the 1964 Civil Rights act, and Republican Senators weren’t the main force in pushing the bill through, but rather Democrats pushed it through. (Though wait a sec – since they had 67% of the Senate, why was any pushing needed? Should have sailed right through. Oh wait, of course, it did!)
Revisionism is so nice where during the years you are talking about, it wasn’t Democrat governors and state legislatures running the Southern states that were discriminating against blacks: oh no, it wasn’t Democrats. Republicans were to blame: they ran those states.
And of course it’s so sweet that even back in the 1800’s it wasn’t the Democrat Party that was mostly in favor of slavery and most surely not the Republican Party largely speaking and acting against it. Heck no. It was the other way around of course.
La la la, la la la!
When we turn history on its head it supports our positions so nicely!
And heck, we can’t vote for an Independent, Libertarian, or other third-party candidate either. They were to blame as well. Nope, there’s really only one way a black man or other minority CAN vote, due to the revisionist history of civil rights.
Why, these days Winston Smith doesn’t even have to physically remove the truth from books.
That’s why I don’t understand why blacks support the democratic party in such numbers. Democrats are also the guys who gave us gun control because it was so much easier to lynch the uppity negroes that way.
As for Glen Beck, he’s usually right but uses humor and such to illustrate why liberals are wrong and silly.
Kind of how Limbaugh did back in the very early 90s like 91 or so. He would regularly have peace updates, animal rights updates and such and play silly songs before he read the clip. and lievrals have been going wild since.
It works this way, I am right so you must be wrong so you must be stupid. problme is us conservative guys have sent eh world differently. Jimmy Carter liberal savior and previous title holder of most worthless and useless President until we got his guy reigned over a hostage crisis of 444 days. Reagan was sworn in and they were on a plane.
Reagan was an intellectual lightweight, a former actor, but he solved a problem by just getting into office that the smarty pants liberal guy could not solved. Seemed Reagan was a lot smarter than Carter. Based on time, a good 444 X smarter.
Cold war ended, but Reagan was wrong. I don’t think so. So liberals can follow the I am right so you’re wrong so you’re stupid, but so will I. And I have not seen anything from this guy that show me he’s smart, not a racist, or has a clue in foreign policy.
Picture of the Day - August 03, 2009 - Glenn Beck, here’s Glen Beck’s picture of the day. who is helping the elderly man who flipped out and was arrested. not the man who said the cops actions were stupid, but the cop. The POTUSis just striding towards another photo op after his beer summit, great leader that he is. Just goes to show you character.
Sorry Bill, I never mentioned Democrats or Republicans in my post so I’m not sure why you brought them up. In any case, the modern Republican party is quite different from the party that supported the voting rights act of 1964, and it is more than a little dishonest to indicate otherwise.
I saw his show all the way through earlier today and found myself nodding quite a bit.

David Brock’s “Media Matters” - confirmed liar and unequivocal left wing blather.
The St. Petersburg Times - the most liberal mainline newspaper in the US.
That’s the best you could do? I’m laughing and yet understanding why you had to go with these sources.
Hint: next time add in some George Soros and Michael Moore.
Firstly, there should be nothing shocking about the proposition that literature critical of conservatives comes from liberal camps. I mean, really?
Secondly, assertions of falsehoods on the part of Media Matters and the NYT and whoever else are hardly proof of such. You haven’t at all engaged my sources, you simply wrote off the evidence because of where it came from.
It’s so wonderful having a revisionist history.

ummmm… I don’t want to speak for valiance, but I think he was saying that those who tend to have romantic thoughts about the past (ie think things were so much better before) tend to be conservative.
Seemed to be a similar idea to the one I made with Push some time ago. Basically, the idea that “We had it better so long ago” tends to not include blacks or women (or a variety of groups) in the “we”. That those groups now think differently than “conservatives” tends to not be surprising.
