Oatmeal sucks!

Had my first serving of oatmeal (ever in my life) this morning. I will not be able to handle eating this crap again without some enhancement. What do you do to make this lumpy goo edible without screwing it up?

Couple of ideas: If your not low carbing it, some 100% fruit jam isn’t too bad, or real fruit would be better yet. Otherwise, some splenda and cinnomin.

New England style: Pure Vermont maple syrup.
Not that fake shit. A little goes a long
way for flavor & sweetness (like a teaspoon
for a good sized bowl). Some milk can help
thin it out too.

It could be a texture thing. For example, I don’t like oatmeal from hotels or restaurants- too runny. I make mine up thick with less water. I can literally eat it with a fork. In fact, I did that today.

For flavor, add protein powder and/or cinnamon. Don’t add butter or sugar obviously. Some natural chunky peanut butter blended in when it’s hot is great too.

I also like cold oatmeal mixed in with Advanced Protein and blended cottage cheese. Make it up thick so you have to eat it with a spoon like pudding. It’s like dessert. (BTW, I don’t like cottage cheese either, but I eat several pounds of it a week in various blender concoctions.)

You can also just add cooked or dry oatmeal right into MRPs and protein powders and then blend it up. Not my favorite, but works in a pinch.

for me, I’m 17. I work at a gym, so I’m ALWAYS muching on bars, drinks, whatever. I have like no taste buds anymore. The more supplements you take, the better!
So oatmeal doesn’t taste that bad to me, then again, dogfood would probably be the same!

Bro, try this: add applesauce with allspice and cinnamon to your oatmeal. Tastes like apple pie!

I have a hard time getting my oatmeal to the edible point as well. Here’s what I do, put about 3/4cup water in bowl and microwave THEN add the oatmeal (leave runny) and before it turns to concrete start chuckin it down the pie hole. If it’s to thick or just for taste - I add some of my protein drink.

It’s actually quite delicious with plenty of cinnamon and sugar and a little milk poured in. I don’t have to watch my weight, so I’m quite generous with the sugar.

funny how before t-mag my favorite foods were pizza and mcdoanlds. Now i live off of oatmeal, Skim milk and chocolate/strawberry protein powder mixed together.

I had the exact same problem with oatmeal. I thought I would puke everytime I ate it. So here’s what I did. I know its gonna sound worst but its not. Eat it dry!!! I do so while sipping a bit of water and it makes a world of difference.

Feed the oatmeal to the cows and then eat the cows. Its about the only way I can eat the slop.

I use honey or brown sugar & cream (NOT milk!).

1/2 Cup of oatmeal, 1 cup water, a pinch of salt, a dozen or so raisins, 4 packets of Splenda. Nuke on high for 3 minutes add a slash of skim milk. Sometimes I add a dozen or so blueberries instead of raisins. Two hours after oatmeal I do 60 grams of Lean Mass protien mixed with water and ice.

Well here is what I do. I put 1/2 cup oatmeal in a boal and put about 8 oz of water in with it. I then throw it in the microwave for 2.5 minutes to really soften it up. Then I strain some of the water out of it with a strainer and put it back in the bowl. Next, I add three packets of splenda, and some cinnamon. And last I measure out 2/3 of a cup of NON-SWEETENED applesauce. I am addicted to this stuff.

Sugar-free syrup is pretty good. The Shaw’s in my town carries some from a company called “Howard’s.” It’s made with Nutrisweet, and only has 5 calories for 1/4 cup. I doubt I use half that in every serving. Or you can just stir in protein powder.

Man - I must be lucky or something because I actually like to eat oatmeal and cottage cheese - to the point that I have to keep myself from eating too much. Nothing like cold oatmeal (cooked) with a can of tuna!!

Cinnamon, and stevia for sweetening. Use good quality ingredients: get McCann’s oatmeal, and e.g. cinnabon or chinese cinnamon

Cinnamon, a little no calorie sweetener, and lots of spray butter. I love oatmeal this way. If you guys haven’t discovered spray butter yet, TRY IT!. It has no calories and tastes good on rice, eggs, oatmeal, vegetables, hell just about anything warm. Parkay and I can’t believe it’s not butter are the best.

I usually throw in a tablespoon of natural peanut butter. i find that it tastes awesome.

1 cup of oatmeal, 1.5 cups water. Don’t use the instant or quick kind or you always get glue. Bring water to a boil, add oatmeal, stir, when it returns to a boil take it off of the heat and put a lid on it. You can eat it in about 5 minutes. It’s not lumpy or gluey that way. Flavor with fruit (fresh or dried), chopped nuts, raisins, a touch of brown sugar, or maple syrup.
