Over 35’ers, here’s your place to post your 2014 resolutions.
Preferably fitness related, but if you want accountability anything goes. Still working on mine and will post soon.
Hopefully if you meet you goal(s) you’ll let us know.
Best wishes for a great year!
2014 fitness resolutions are strikingly similar to 2013. A severely pulled groin in June (black and blue from mid-thigh to belly-button - email for pics ladiesz) and painful shoulder are my feeble excuses for not hitting them in 2013.
Squat and Bench 400 and Deadlift 500 in competition at 82.5kgs Current bests are 358/341/435.
Resolution is to include cardio and stretching. Believe my lack of mobility led to injuries and lack of cardio will lead to heart attack. Plan is 3 yoga sessions per week and 3 1-mile runs per week.
Happy New Year !
Compete in Physique this Spring.
Goals for 2014
Bench: 350 (current max is 305)
Trap bar deads: 500 (current is 415)
Push press: 230 (current is 195…just started these programming these)
6’5, 228lbs, 45yo. My problem, and the theme for me in 2014 is to eat more. I can easily carry 10-20 more pounds but can’t seem to gain it.
I injured my lower back a few years ago squatting and went exclusively to box squats (375), but want to get back to conventional squatting as I have found quickly there is no carry-over (probably front squats). No idea what my squat goals will be because I am pathetic now…so any improvement will be welcome. Currently running a version of CT’s layer program and loving it. Good topic - my goals are now in print for all to see / love the accountability. Good luck O’35rs!
Compete in 1-2 sanctioned meets. Compete raw (belt/wraps).
Make mobility a priority. Have half-assed it for last 6 months.
Will be competing in tested 220, 50-54 group.
Goals
Squat goal 450+
Bench 315+
DL 500+
To Bench 400 in competition at 181 pds.
Also to Deadlift 600 but this may be more of a wish than a resolution given the current state of my right groin.
Ill Get in on this…
- Full health by the end of February.
- Back to doing 2 meets per year.
- 500 squat and 600 dead in one of them.
- Cutting the weight training sessions to 3 days and adding 1-2 days of conditioning.
- Being able to bench again with possibly a 350 bench in competition.
- Being able to OH Press again with a goal of a 3 wheel strict press
- Compete in the 220 class

You gotta talk to Nancy Goodstein about that groin!
Pause BP 300 current 275
chin 50%BW x3 current x1
make it to the finals of the MA senior games in 100m sprint and long jump.
DL 2.5xBW
400 pound bench at a contest.
600 pound deadlift.
Control my weight a little better.
NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS.
Kick my boxing skills into real shape. I want actually in the near future to be able to post some videos that someone such as fightinirish26 and others normally over in combat can commend.
Kick my rope skipping into shape and be more consistent with keeping it up. I commonly get annoyed with the rope catching on my toes and marring my overall experience with it.
Others stuff as I think of it.
300 bench, 400 squat and 300 SGHP would be nice. If I could drop 15-20 pounds of fat and replace it with 10-15 pounds of muscle in the process that would be nice too. But basically my main goal is to still be around at the end of 2014 so I can post a new resolution for 2015.
Pull 500+, Squat 400+, Bench 350+ Get those numbers nailed down in a meet.
Join a PL oriented gym ASAP
Integrate sprints and sled into my routine.
Get a complete medical checkup. Something I’ve been neglecting.
Read more classics.
deadlift 400
drop 15 pounds
run more to drop my bp.
Stay injury free this year, back is not getting any younger.
With my changes in work demands, just continue to work out 6 days a week. Keeping my strength and my mobility/cardio up to what it is now.
My immediate goals for 2014 are 1 plate, 2 plate, 3 plate, 4 plates per side for the big four: press, bench, squat, pull. Hopefully by May. Bonus goal for 2014 will be 1000 in the big three.
Goals for 2014 are similar to 2013
- Don’t die
- Meet a fitness goal (Abzzzzz)
- Be consistent with everything
- Compete twice
- Maintain my status as a terrible son, passable husband and awesome father.

Bri you have a magical way with words lol!
Are you in the NYC area? What feds do you plan to compete in?
315lb bench
400lb dl
375lb squat
Get myself under 300lbs, currenly 330lbs.
My goal is to have a higher ranking in the OPEN 220 lbs weight class on PowerliftingWatch and to be back in the top 5 if not number one in the Masters Class 220 lbs division on PowerliftingWatch.(I may be able to drop weight to make the 205 lbs class in the USAPL-I want to beat Ricks in that class or at least the squat)
I want to make it back to a 1600 lbs and/or greater total this year with goals for the following lifts:
Squat: 625-650 lbs(Will go for higher if possible on all lifts)
Bench: 350-385 lbs
Deadlift: 625-650 lbs.
I will also work to get my standing overhead press into the 275 lbs region by the end of 2014. I will make an effort to compete in 2-3 USAPL meets and 2-3 meet in RAW UNITED. I will be competing in the RAW drug tested meets.
Other goals will be to continue to be the best husband and father I am able to be, to work more and expand my business, and to read and learn more(specifically computer coding languages).
Stay injury free!
