Someone mentioned they were talking to a nutritionist and he had mentioned a high nut intake can lead to polyps… I’ve never heard of such, and can’t imagine it being true.

Here’s a newsflash. Living eventually causes death. Eat the best you can, I know I do, but you are on a slippery slope to the grave and everything has a downside for somebody.

Polyps are abnormal growths (tumors) from mucus membranes. Most are benign. They are most common in the nasal passages (some forms of asthma), and in the colon.
I’ve never heard of such a connection, but a simple cause and effect is almost always not the case. My guess is that some study out there was focused on polyps and noticed that those particular subjects with polyps also happened to eat nuts. Hardly worth saying that “nuts cause polyps.”
