My car does not fare much better.

Ha ha! Yes that was a bit like me running around Streatham Common a couple of months ago. I couldn’t get any traction in it so it was a bit of a nightmare, but also strangely fun. It’s pretty dry here now though.

Wow, great work on the running in the elements, OMO.

Never ran in mud like that before. Heavy rain, yes, Ice storms, yes. Heavy mud, no.

Great workouts too.

I miss eating Cream of Wheat, lol.

Too bad I didn’t have a Figure body when I made my first log, because I did about the same volume as you and got shit for it all the time. shrug

That’s some kick ass training Dearie.

here’s some peaches for you (mud) nice running

Haven’t posted in quite some time…its been really sad watching my strength levels decrease as my running mileage increases. I can’t wait for this race to be over. At this point I’m only doing it because I’ve paid for it and its on my “list” of things to do :frowning:

I’ve been keeping my upper body pretty strong but my squats and such are lacking. Right before training for this race I hit 165 and now I’m lucky to do 115 for reps. Oh well.

My mileage is up to about 53 miles a week and I try to fit all my lifting in as well. You would think that with that much running I’d be skinny…but its just the opposite. I’ve now put on about 17 pounds since the figure competition in April.

Oh and one other thing…I’m in love  Maybe its “happy weight” I’ve been putting on HA!

I did chest and triceps this morning…it felt pretty good  Tonight I have 6 miles on tap…

that’s beautiful, OMO ~

YAAAAY!!! Looooooove! YAYAYAYAY! So happy for you, girl! =D

53 miles a week is insanity! One goal at a time, woman. Focus on the marathon and then get back to the weights. Just think that right now you’re working on a different kind of “strength” - endurance and mental fortitude.

Good luck mama! Take care of that man

losing my strength makes me sadder than seeing my abs makes me happy. Does that make any sense? And when I wrapped my head around that and allowed myself the pleasure of lifting and eating within reason I found my happy.

cudos for the running, especially if it’s been on your to do list. I’ll be adding cardio in prep for my mountain hiking in August.

Heh OMO, I’m not surprised about the weight gain. I gained a bit training for my half marathon. I read an article over on FA by Rachel Cosgrove about how she gained fat and lost her abs training for Ironman, and how she got them back doing high intensity weight circuits and kettlebells. Sounds like the way to go once you’re done with the race.

As for the strength, you’re probably catabolising some of the muscle in your lower body, and/or converting the pink fibres over to endurance. The running is likely compromising your mobility as well. It’s a fucker for tightening up the hip and leg muscles.

Cal beat me to it. I was going to suggest that it’s not uncommon to gain weight while training for endurance. But, you have a ton of previous experience with this so I feel a little silly saying anything. I know that my wife has trained primarily for endurance for many years and dieted off-and-on in the meantime. She now has hell with her “pooch” as she calls it. I’m not sure if her problem is more metabolism or hormone related, but I can say that strength training is making a visible difference in only five weeks so far. I think it is having a positive influence on her body and hormone balance. I’m glad somebody suggested it (the strength training)in some damn magazine article. She thought it was a bad idea when I mentioned eleventy billion times, but since it was in a magazine it must be true.

Well…even though I said I would never do it again…I think I’m gonna do another figure competition. The difference is that the boy is planning on entering the bodybuilding portion of this show. I think it’d be fun to do a show together.

…now what am I gonna do with all this fat I’ve put on???

cool!!

when are you planning to compete??

March 31st. I hope doing this with him makes the whole thing a little more enjoyable, ya know?

why not go bodybuilding route?

something different.

I’d do it someday just for the experience, but I think I have too much ink now.

He and I actually talked about me going that route but I think I like the look of figure just a little bit more. I’m gonna take a chance though and do it without a coach this time.

I see so many people with ink doing it now…how many tats do you have?

I have one on the back of my left calf
a fairly large piece on my upper left arm
and by next month, my right arm will be finished into a half sleeve

And I want more of course

I like the look of figure as well but not all the girly stuff that goes with.
