I started lifting just over a year ago during March last year; I started at 140lb 10%bf, basically very skinny @ 5’11-6’ and at April this year I was 181lb 18%bf. I was happy with my bulking progress as my total muscle gain>fat gain. My ultimate goal is to reach 185lb 10%bf.
However my exam period came by and I’ve pretty much been inactive/a coach potato in the library for the past 2 months or so. I’ve gone to 181lb 20%bf and I’m not sure where to go from here now that my finals are over. I plan on giving it my all over the next three months so please throw any suggestions my way.
I feel like a fat shit but I’m not sure whether I should just keep on bulking, or start a cut. Also I’ve been hearing about something called body recomposition… does anyone have thoughts on this? Can it be done? If I should bulk/cut what should I be aiming for?
I don’t think anyone over 15% bodyfat ever needs to “bulk” in the traditional sense of the word. Eat wholesome foods, make pre-, peri-, and post-workout nutrition a priority and you will gradually lose some of the fluff while building muscle underneath.

As noted above, there are users who have noticed positive results from eating wholesome foods, training hard, and stepping away from the cyclic calorie manipulation and bulk/cut mindset.
