Not Sore Time to Train more?

Hi guys, every bodypart I train usually has recovered from soreness in 3 days or less. IE: When I hit Chest on Monday I feel I could hit it again by Thursday. I am on androgens and always am. Even though I am dieting I can’t help but think If I am not sore or tight I could be getting more progress by hitting the muscle groups 2 times per week. I admit I have hit body parts once per week for a long time (at least 5 years.) Is soreness and being tight a poor indicater? I feel fresh and ready to go after 3 days-I am so condidtioned to believe in the once every seven days thing that I am afraid to bump it up-also considering the fact that no experts seem to say: “2 times per week is good.” Almost everyome says 7 days is ideal. Thanks again guys.

What do you mean by “always on androgens”? You never cycle off steroids? Or are you talking about legal stuff like 4-AD-EC?

As for your question, soreness is not the only marker for recovery. The nervous system needs to recover as well regardless of whether you’re sore or not. Hitting each body part once every five days is the standard recommendation, but much depends on the type of training you’re doing. If you don’t go to failure or don’t use super slow negatives, you can train more often.

Paul keep in mind some people recover super fast especially on long term androgen therapy. (even the nervouse system) It is a genetic thing. You could try 2x per week. Give your body 4 weeks if you arent seeing improved gains stop doing it.

Interesting. Everything I read about training while on androgens says to up the frequency. Something to do with reduced recovery time. What are you waiting for, you could be doing twice a days right now! Then again, maybe if your always on, there’s no rush. Go back and read some more from these experts. I seem to remember something about cycling on and off too.

so you have been getting stronger for 5 years straigh or gaining mass? yeah and whats up with the always on androgens. anyways, you should ideally be switching around your training routine by every 6 weeks so i don’t see how you have not been able to hit the same body part maybe every 5 or six days instead of 7. try the HST training. laters pk

Ed,
Good points you made. You should train as often as you possibly can - don’t worry what other people think is correct. Each person is so individualized that a “cookie-cutter” prescription of training each bodypart every 5-7 days is a gross estimation at best. Androgens really have nothing to do with the question you are asking. Androgens or not, if you can workout each bodypart three times each week and continue to progress - then do it. Check out my article “More Can Be Better” if you haven’t yet. Good Luck.

Thanks Chad I am going to give it a go. Could it be most people don’t train more because they want the weekend off as well? I know that has been a reason for me in the past…
