It’s a wide stance indeed, towards one end of the bell curve but u may be an outlier so that may be perfect for u. Quads still get plenty of work because what happens at the knee joints e.g. knees going out over toes can still happen with whatever stance width or toe angle u choose just in a different plane of movement then everything going straight forward.
Neutral spine/breathing and bracing wise the lower half of your body seems aight. Harder to see from this angle funnily enough but I think ur ribs are flared too much or that the angle of dem ribs isn’t locked in but opens as u go down if u nomsayin
And perhaps I should add then, where are you and your friends hoping to apply your skills (to encompass that as @samul pointed out that for his interests its not really the language du jour)
Ate one of these (35-70 calories) as I was cooking breakfast and felt full afterwards. Currently chowing down breakfast all the same. Doing the opposite of a diet trick. When dieting, eat slowly and mindfully and focus on your food. Right now I’m on the phone while eating browsing and not paying much heed to the food.
The food looks like ass as I have to grind it still
Was planning to bake sourdough bread today but my bulk fermentation was completely flat which was a bummer. I think I should have used a smaller container to feed my starter in. Will have to have another go at it. It’s a bit of a bummer to toss away. To out a positive spin on it: fewer tasks to get done today
Going to have a go at shaving despite still being in pain from the removal of my wisdom teeth.
Need to pack for outdone climbing tomorrow (almost managed to take an entire week off!)
Kind of force-fed before bed last night too. I knew I’d eaten too little but Müsli and puffed rice is not allowed yet until my gums have healed (tendency to get stuck). So I put a protein bar in my quark
I have some kyphosis. Very evident in front squats. Might be that. I find if I pull down my ribs too much I tend to get a lot of pain where my lumbar spine turns into my thoracic spine. But I’ll try some small adjustments.
No-one seeing anything wrong with my bench? I have the hardest time using my tris in that lift.
I’m in academia (for now, at least) in a STEM field. I don’t do much coding in my work, but absolutely no one uses Java. In conversation people laugh and call it outdated. Python, R, and MATLAB (yes, I realize it’s an oddball since it’s not open source and arguably not a programming language). I know how to use all four of those, some more than others. Still, I’m probably not the best person to ask. Not a helpful answer but another example of how it depends on the area.
I’d love to know what these people mean. But I agree that there’s not a lot within academia where Java would excel over other options. Just seems kind of narrow minded to laugh at a circle cutter because what you need is a hammer.
To hammer it home (), cars, trams, metro, buses, planes, boats all serve their use and they do not make one another obsolete.
No appetite, no energy. Foul taste in my mouth (prolly for the excised teeth) too — i.e. this is not the cause of my poor appetite.
Did just not have the hunger to do the prowler sprints and what not that’s schedule today and I really didn’t want to do biceps because I’m going outdoors tomorrow.
Tried to have a fun athletic day, and beat up my triceps and abs a little. Tried the ab stack from Ellington Darden’s forum. Couldn’t even complete it, meaning that at the end I couldn’t do a single sit-up.
Never really felt as if I was having fun, but I did get to screen some of my abilities.
Not far away from a bar muscle-up, just need to be a bit more aggressive with the legs and getting my torso over the bar
I can still do pistols
I can’t train ninja pull-ups at this gym because there are spot lights shining down straight into one’s eyes at every rack. Wanted to try and jump two steps but not when I can’t see where I’m going. Happily, this did not wreck my climber’s elbow
And a shoddy push press for @Koestrizer to laugh at
I need to press more violently with my arms I presume and my shoulder joint does not feel stable so I should see if I can’t get a hold of a 12kg KB to do seated one arm presses with that. My 16- and 20 kg KBs put me far outside of a suitable training intensity.
Next week is a bodybuilding week but either I’ll have to up my calories, decrease my daily activity (which isn’t scheduled and just happens), magically feel better all around or do something else programming wise.
If this is the measurement stick,
Loss of “pop” when training . Weights that usually are lifted
with a clean, crisp motion now seem to take a little too long to
execute the rep.
Difficulty in elevating heart rate
Feeling of simultaneous tightness and stiffness.
Tendon discomfort on the first few eccentric motions of any set.
Delayed onset muscle and tendon soreness that persists, even after low volume or low intensity training.
Somatic sense of being heavy.
Changes in appetite
Decrease in body weight.
Mental fuzziness and loss of focus during training.
Loss of motivation in the gym
Loss of motivation outside of the gym.
General loss of focus.
Sleep disturbances.
Mood-related issues or general irritability
Persistent feeling of fatigue.
Loss of libido.
I have 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.
Wow, ran of on a tangent there. Anyway, this workout wasn’t exactly what was scheduled but at least I did something. I’ve been applying that idea a lot recently. What I do does not have to perfcetly planned out, it just has to be something as that’s a whole lot better than nothing. I think back to
Obtain each day some aid against poverty, something against death, and likewise against other calamities.

while I’m sure @dagill2 s Will Smith quote might be a more “modern” take on the same sentiment.
It’s this attitude that had me doing 10 minutes of Daily Yoga while cooking my post-workout dinner yesterday for instance rather than having me do absolutely zero minutes because I couldn’t fit in a lengthier session.
In a rush weird cravings pre-workout meal today. Needed a carb. Had popcorn. And also needed to salvage the chicken as it was a bit dated. There was something else in the meal but I think it ended up beneath everything
I think what was lacking violence was more the lower body here. Try a little bit of a wider stance for this and try to push your knees outwards. Your weight should not shift towards your toes during the dip (only on the drive, when the heels lifts). Wider stance in accordance to your mechanics, will allow greater hip involvement. Also for a push press try the elbow more at 45° towards the floor (little less forward).
If your shoulder joint felt unstable, my first thought (and I can’t see that, I am just suggesting) is that the lats aren’t properly engaged as a shelf to generate power from.
It’s from a book that I happen to consider to be very very good. I reformatted and rephrased a few things to more clearly articulate which items I’m experiencing. In the book (Be Your Own Bodybuilding Coach) the header is signs of overreaching and overtraining.
The suggested approach essentially boils down to reduce training stress and other stress if possible and emphasise recover through nutrition, sleep and enjoying life.
If this had been the first week I felt like this I would’ve paid it less heed as this week was tumultuous to say the least but the sensations started early last week and have just been exacerbated since.
Oh man, I totally forgot to respond thanks for finding these I’ll check them out. Yea I’m pretty interested in politics, in general, and I feel more comfortable reading Swedish regarding politics than in any other non-general field.
Anecdotally I’ve heard Java being referred to as outdated as well but I’ve never done anything meaningful with it so I wouldn’t be able to defend or disagree with the remarks. It was probably 5 years ago but Helsinki Uni offered a Java mooc that was probably too basic for you, @samul, but may be worth checking out.
Well personally… it’s a wild ride. Not too good but I also have been worse before.
Athletically pretty good, competed yesterday. Now everything hurts, haha.
