Nootropics

Anybody have any experience with some of the nootropic/“smart drug” products on the market?

I’ve seen a lot of diff’t variations, some containing melatonin, L-Carnitine, Ubiquinone, DHEA, Malic Acid etc
are some of the ingredients used.

Any opinions on the validities of these ingredients, and on the the idea of a nootropic supplement?

Power Drive.

Possibly my favorite Biotest product. Yesterday, for example, was leg day. I did not get enough sleep and I was tired as hell, I did not feel like training, I have quit caffeine so I didn’t even have that to fall back on, and I felt like ass. Took my Power Drive and Hot-Rox, felt sense of increased irritation and resentment as I got closer and closer to gym, warm-up felt exhausting, stretched, and proceeded to have a fucking fantastic workout.

I don’t ever feel Power Drive the way you feel an ECA just suddenly realize that I am squatting more weight that ever before, after heavy leg press and it feels like nothing. NOTHING! The totally focused concentration from Power Drive is amazing.

Power Drive. It’s not Ultimate Orange, but a whole different kind of feeling, like you’re “on” when training - focused and alert. Great for studying too.

Definitely must concur on the Power Drive. Makes for great workouts, especially if you don’t “feel like it”. I’ve even used it at work sometimes when I have one of those projects that comes due day before yesterday.

I have to echo the opinions regarding Power Drive.

Agreed! Power Drive is great. If you golf, take some before playing. It makes a difference!

Power Drive before the game, before the workout, and before the big test… the ultimate edge. Great product! For 17 bucks?? If ya haven’t tried it, TRY IT!
T-M@tt

Don’t worry, I’m a satisfied Power Drive customer - for life, probably!

But there are so many other products out there, w/ totally diff’t formulations, that I’m curious as to what they do that isn’t covered by Power Drive.

PD is some good stuff. I’ve tried only one other similar product that worked okay… once out of every 5 times I used it.

Overall though I’ve found that a good “routine” for activities is by far the best. My body is acclamated now to sleep at this time, train at this time, play videogames or read during these times, and so on and after several month of this routine my body and mind seem primed for these events at such times. But somedays I’m just a lot mor e beat down than others and PD works great for these humps.

My point is that there are a lot of mental focus prodcts out there, PD works great and I’m sure there are a few other good choices, and they’re good solutions for a little edge before a workout or maybe if you missed a little sleep, but in the end no drink is going to allow you to focus after no sleep for 3 days.

Sorry, didn’t see your second post till after I had submitted my response…

Regarding the contents of other products I’d say its similar to the Red Kat and Tribex products: They acheive the same result but through different mechanisms, niether necessarily better than the other.

Another thought regarding any herbal supps is that with anything herbal as opposed to synthetic you’re going to run into different effects from the same content per product, batch, and possibly serving even depending on how it was processed, quality, and concentration.

I know I still haven’t really answered your question I’m just throwing out what I can…

Piracetam can work wonders, especially in conjunction with Power Drive. Do a search for it in the forums, you should find some good info.

Power Drive is the best for running too. I can stay completely focused during long runs as well as my sprint sessions. It’s helped me improve my PR’s.

PD and Surge along with a good multi and Grow are the supps constantly stocked in my cupboard. I like PD/ caffeine way better than ECA. No kick like with an ECA, but no crash either. Just focus and desire!

Piracetam, I’ll have to check it out.

While I like Power Drive, for daily use I find Neurogenex, it has Peracitam (2-oxo-pyrrolidone), Acetyl-L-Carnitine and some other things.

Focus and desire? Hehehehe… does that mean it would be good to slug a scoop if you lure some hottie to your home?

Here’s my nootropic stack right now

Power Drive 1 1/2 -2 servings

2-4 grams piracetam (about to try aniracetam 5-10 x’s as strong)

2-4 grams alcar

600-800 mgs PS

2-3 grams green tee extract

120 mgs gingko

dmae (can’t quite remember the dose)

Sometimes clen/eca 2wks on 2 wks off

Overall I feel the first 5 items on the list will always be the base of any nootropic stack I use.

I like Power Drive as well, along with symbiotropin-- not technically a nootropic, but feels like an extremely effective nootropic stack.
