Hey on the plus side, carrying that much weight means your body has a decent shot at actually getting huge…if you can get off the booze train. Join a church or AA, find someone that will hold you accountable. This is not an option, it’s necessary to surround yourself with people who will kick you in the ass when you fuck up. You can get yoked like a mother if your body allows you to be 280.

I dont agree with this.^^ it is by no means optimal but it is definitely not impossible to burn fat after you’ve had some drinks.
But I do agree with Way that if you’re drinking 5+ drinks a night EVERY NIGHT you are not gonna lose weight. Not just because of all the empty calories in alcohol but for the amount of shit food you probably eat when/after drinking.
I know whenever I drink I’m always starving afterwards and will end up dominating a giant plate of Carne Asada fries from the local hole in the wall mexican food place. Throwing back some serious calories right there at 2 in the morning lol.
If you’re trying to recomp I would try to cut the alcohol way down in the amount of days per week you’re drinking (If you cant/wont cut it out completely.)
.greg.
Dude, it’s been a week and you’re 280lbs. Take a quality dook in the morning and you’re talking a 10 lb fluctuation right there.
If you want to see progress for sures, consider something dramatic like v-diet or Rapid Fat Loss (which might work better because then you’d be eating real food)
Cut the drinking down to 5 drinks a month or at the very least one day a week and you’ll probably notice pretty dramatic changes. As for the belly fat it kinda reminds me of one of Shugart’s posts http://velocity.tmuscle.com/free_online_forum/diet_blog_hammer_velocity_shugart/pms_pregnant_male_syndrome . Seriously though beyond anything else at this point you don’t need to do anything drastic if you gave up drinking daily i believe you’d hit your goal easy and quickly.

On the alcoholic subject, it really depends on what book u read or your opinion. I consider myself as not, but ppl will look at 5 drinks a declare i have a drinking problem. If i got hammered on a nightly basis it would be different, i get hammered once a wk,a and pay dearly for it the next day.

My sister (an alcoholic and drug addictions counsellor) once gave me the definition as someone who’s alcohol consumption adversely affects their life. So for someone who can’t afford to buy alcohol, but still drinks 1 beer a day, could be considered an alcoholic.
If you’re serious about weight loss, but are unable to curtail your drinking beyond less than 5 a day, i’d say you definitely qualify. Why not cut your drinking down to nothing, for a month, if only to prove to yourself that you can. You may find it a valuable experience and amazingly beneficial to your bank account as well as your health.
A couple things that are tell-tale signs you need to either $hit, or get off the can:
- You can’t see your own dick cause of your gut
- Your 28% bodyfat based on one of those “conservative” measurement tools (meaning you’re probably a LOT more
- IMHO - You are not eating clean
Seriously, if you like living/looking the way you do now, then continue down that path and I’ll read about you in the papers in a couple years and everyone will be talking about “what a nice guy he was” and so on…
To put this into perspective - I got into training 10 years younger than YOU are now and it took me a long time to figure it all out as there was so much misinformation out there. I’m now nearly double your age (so you can say I don’t know $hit, but that’s your bag).

If you want to cut, cut and do it right, don’t do it half ass as your letting yourself down. If you like failing at stuff and getting frustrated, then great - continue down the path your going and maybe see a doc about getting on some anti-depressants while you’re at it. Otherwise, $hit or get off the can and do it right.
-
Boozing - you ain’t fooling anyone… Having to cut down to 5 drinks a night? And you want to loose weight and see your dick? Dude, please… Again, $hit or get off the can…
-
Did I really read you drink 1/2 litre of water a day? A male should be consuming a LOT more than that and if you’re exercising, then increase that even more so - try 4-5 litres a day…
-
You’re already on high blood pressure medication and you’re 26… Either you have a family history, or you just got smacked in the head with a warning sign - what’s it gonna take for you to $hit or get off the can? A stroke? Think it can’t happen? Wanna bet? Keep going the way you’re going now and you’ll find yourself incapable of looking after yourself - you’ll be in adult diapers, having someone named Bubba come over to wash your ass and your balls as you’re useless. Oh and forget the good food, have a major stroke and it’ll all go into a blender on puree.
Seriously man, at 26 and you have all these warning signs and you still can’t get it together?
$hit or get off the can…
I’m done…

Actually this would be true greg. Your body stops basic metabolic functions to eliminate alcohol from the body since it is a metabolic poison. Yes on a day to day basis you could lose fat while ingesting alcohol which is what you are probably suggesting, but at time that alcohol is actually in your body and being processed, fat burning stops. Yes it will resume again (providing caloric deficit yada yada yada) once the alcohol has been processed and eliminated from the body.
