Arnis and escrima at brother in law’s training club. Good 2 hours. Lots of tongue clicking by bro-in-law when using sticks and knives. Empty hand technique more than held my own. Lot of take downs. My 215# against nephews weighing around 130, 140. Yeah, take that. Brother in laws 50th anniversary today. Hit the wharf below my house after practice picked up 10 kilos of shrimp straight off the boat. Bought an bag of diablo celi (hot red chilis), bunch of corn, and 5 kilos of fresh made longganisa (filippino sausage). Cajun boil, Filippino style tonight. One of many dishes tonight. Told the local seller to deliver 4 cases of beer and a case of brandy, it’s a favorite, to the beach later. Nephews ordered a 30k roast pig and the wife and women are making lots of other foods. Nap time now.

Checking in. Routines been pretty much:
Days 1 & 2. lift. 1. Chest, back, tris 2. Shoulders, bi
3rd day’. swim, hill run. Had to do my swimming at the lake last time because of swarming jelly fish which have finally moved on.
4th day. Martial arts.
Rinse and repeat.
Have found lifting with a 6’ and 7’ standard bar, thinner bar, makes the big lifts, mainly bench, cleans, press, and deads a little more difficult. Use to the feel of the thicker bar. Put all the large weights we have on the 7’ foot the other day and did a few deads with 160k/353lb. Couldn’t really get a comfortable grip. 2 of my nephews did some 2 man deads with it. They weigh in at about 65k each.
Bro in laws 50th anniversary party was a big success. Heading out tonight for another celebration. Philippine Independence Day. Trying to check in on everyone. Enjoy.

Having a hard time getting use to doing inclines on a bench. Been doing them on the smith so long really fell them in the left should. Hopefully it’ll loosen up some. Picture is my nephews intro to weightlifting when they were young. Feels like it weighs about 30#. Starting in about an hour, beer and videoke. Don’t know why I keep getting asked if I’m going to sing.

Do you have to time your ocean swims with the jellyfish and creatures?

Jelly fish usually swarm here and the ā€œBeach Reportā€ and local fisherman let me know when they’re swarming so stay out of the water. Most of the sharks aren’t aggressive and usually feed at dawn or dusk and I wear bright trucks so as to not look to eatable from below. When I head down to the water the local fishermen always let me know if they’ve see any large or dangerous sharks. Most shark attacks here happen down in the Southern Islands and there really aren’t that many. Determined to swim with Whale Sharks this trip. Haven’t managed that yet.

Still sticking to my day 1 & 2 - lift, 3 swim & run, 4 martial arts. Working more on my incline bench than flat bench. Determined to get the shoulder loosen and bring it up to what I could do on the Smith. Manage 3 sets with 80k x 8 so moving up.
Yesterday did an easy 6k ruck (15 kilo) and ate lots of hot dogs and beer after. Sponsored by one of several Vets groups I’m a member of here. Good time.


Took a trip to Bataan the other day. Wife picked up some of the largest mangoes I’ve ever seen. Good eats.
