No Promises This Time

Couldn’t help it. TStorms and a raging river which I blame CL and Biker personally for sending my way. Headed down to the natatorium. Ran into my friend the women’s swim coach from U of A in Huntsville. She was the one who taught me how to do the pool turns several years ago before I competed in the Senior Olympics swimming. She still looks very distracting in her swim gear. Anyway, did a 500m freestyle and a few 200m breaststoke. Got on the scale and was 212. This justified my picking up 4 pounds of chicken wings and drumettes, baking them, dosing them with Sweet Baby Ray’s Wing sauce, dipping them in bleu Cheese and gorging myself. Stalk of celery on the side. Wife ate at least 4 wings. Glutton, she has no control. So Saturday Night. Poured up the Jameson’s, firing up a Romeo y Julieta, turning on "Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II. Good day.

Pretty much did nothing today. After church with a good portion of the family hit the Pancake House for a breakfast of cuisine raffinée with all 5 big brothers. Worked on some wood projects after that. Found this article on one of my military site. Master Chief, Master Diver. Carl Brashear who was played by Cuba Gooding, Jr in “Men of Honor” training to be able to climb the ladder back to the ship after a dive. 4 years after having his leg nearly amputated during a recovery dive he gained his Master Diver certification.

Not real fond of the Fly machine. The one you can do either seated flys or rear delts on. Never really feel it in the chest. more in the delts. Gonna stick to good ole db flys from now on.
Got to the gym early. Good day. Lot of familar faces, relatives, good lifters, good music, good vibe, and shitty coffee. If you’re Cajun you’re born knowing how to make good coffee. It takes a real effort to make bad coffee but cousin Mike has master the art of shitty coffee. At least he puts on good music.

A second post to say Happy 246th Birthday to our brothers, sisters, sons and daughters, past, present, and future of the US Army. Thanks for keeping use safe (with a little help from your friends). Special thanks to brothers #4 and #5 for their service.

I did. This Louisiana friend doesn’t want you to lose your web feet.

Great lifting here besides all that endurance swimming.

Nice job on those last few sessions. Very impressive sets. Glad the gym has been fun. Hopefully the weather calms down and you can get some swimming in. Cool photo of Carl Brashear. That looks like a pretty effective way to train for that.

Started the day at the dojo. Kata, bag work, sticks. After lunch did a 2 mi run.
Speaking of lunch. Sister in law #2 brought by the best enchiladas in the world. Makes a habanero salsa to go with them. She swaps the wife for her Lumpia. They wheel and deal, I eat.

And now totally off the subject. One of my many neices sitting (posing) on 5 hectares, about 12.5 acres, we just closed on in the Philippines. Tried to buy our last trip but couldn’t finish the deal because of COVID lock downs. Owner’s been dealing with one of my my brother in laws. They finally were able to close the deal. Butts up against the back of our main house on one side, our second house and banana and coconut fields on the other. Gonna tear down the old bamboo structures and put up a big Pavillion, Nipa hut, and BBQ pit big enough to cook at least a 80k pig. The small lake’s big enough to do some swimming, has some fresh water crabs and fish.

In the Philippines every event, christening, marriage, birthdays, feistas, etc involve food and the main course is usually Lechon Baboy, Roasted pig. The size of the event dictates the size of the pig. It’s slow roasted and basted with coconut milk so the skin comes out smooth and tasty. I have 3 nephews who are the master of Lechon, even make their own charcoal. They’ve only been able to cook smaller pigs, up to 25 kilo and only 1 at a time. Now they’ll be able to cook really big ones or several small ones at a time and if business gets real good add more pits.

Thanks. That’s one of our young nieces who manages most of our finances when we’re not there.

Couldn’t wait any longer. Hit the river early. Still running a little fast so for safety reasons only went out 200 metres, real fast with the current, real slow back against the current. Did 3 x 400 metre. Yard work after.
