Decided to help my roomie get started today, so I did his workout with him and decided to play it by ear and listen to my body in terms of how heavy to go
A) Bench… bench felt good, I went relatively heavy, a few reps away from failure
95 x 5
135 x 5
185 x 5
205 x 5
225 x 5
235 x 5
B) Squat… last couple sets I felt my low back start to hurt, so I called it and stayed light
95 x 5
135 x 5
155 x 5
185 x 5
205 x 3
C) Pullups
bw x 9 (rep PR)
bw x 7
bw x 6
D) Leg Curls - machine was terrible so I didn’t do them.
Deciding on if I’m going to meet an “acquaintance” of mine out at the bar tonight.
…who am I kidding. I’ll be there…

hmm, maybe you ARE fast twitch dominant. does anyone have any input on this and whether or not ME days a la Westside would help?
I wish I could help you here, but usually I’ll smoke part of a lift, stall a bit, then grind to lockout. it’s fun watching the spotter jump when I stall.
Ya know, it occurs to me it might be because I trained CT style for so long. Never going over 85%ish of my max, always doing sets of 3, focusing on performance and explosive reps, stopping an exercise when performance started going down.
I definitely progressed doing that, but I can see how it could’ve make my 1RM not far above my 3RM having never done a grinder in a year.
dude, props on even getting out there and doing anything resembling a workout. you just did NINE 1RM attempts in one day. even just 1RM testing deadlift by itself messes my whole week up, and you did that +7-8 more. I hope you’re nomming like crazy and doing other recovery stuff.
and yeaaa I’d agree with that. you need to learn how to grind fosho. it’s the only way you learn how to use 100% of EVERYTHING to complete a lift.
