275 fail x 2 wtf. I’ve hit this at least 3 or 4 times in the gym.

Deadlift

408lb - GOOD
457lb - GOOD (2lb PR)
475lb - GOOD (20lb PR)

happy with squats and deads, not so much bench. Definitely not my last meet!

Glad to hear it went ok…for the most part anyway.

I’ll try to splice together the vids and get something up for today. However, I feel like I got in a fight with a tractor and might not make it from my couch all day.

^pic from meet. I’m on the right, VTBalla is 2nd to right, plus a couple doods we chilled with while we were there.

Meet was so much fun. I definitely felt weak as shit watching those guys lift (and being the first one to open on every lift!) There were some crazy strong guys there - and it was cool seeing StormTheBeach deadlift 750 pounds. He won the overall 1st prize as well.

I’ll probably compete in another year or so. Gonna have a Dave Tate-ish cycle where I spend a few months on conditioning, a few on hypertrophy, then get into a pure strength focus and meet prep for ~6months or so (obviously, I will be trying to increase strength all year, but my accessory work and conditioning will vary each phase).

I plan to compete in about a year and hope to add ~250 to my total (50 bench, 100 squat, 100 dead). I think it’s doable… if my bench ever goes up again!

Now… the “official” vid. Hope you enjoy homies. This one chick was nice enough to record it all for me which rocked, but she was unfortunately messed up a couple vids (missed my first squat attempt and did some weird zooming on my final DL). But super cool of her to vid my whole meet and not complain.

Thanks bro. Funny story, I had my pounds-to-kilos wrong and thought my deadlift was 475.6, beating you buy .6lbs. But I was wrong.

Real nice work yesterday man…you put your balls on the line and stood up to the challenge…that says a lot about a man’s character and testicular fortitude…

You identified weaknesses and what you need to work on over the next year to go into beast mode at your next meet…I’d say 250 pounds is conservative…I mean, you say your bench goal increase is 50, but you left over 25 pounds on the platform from your gym PR…once you get the pause figured out, you will see a huge increase…

I mighta had 10-15 more lbs in the squat, maybe. Deadlift was pretty close to my max, MAYBE 5 more lbs.

One thing I’ve noticed is I almost never grind a lift. I either crush it or fail… you really can’t judge my strength based on bar speed, that 253 bench looks SO easy on vids but it felt like I was pressing a truck. Maybe I’m fast twitch dominant?
