Comp is in Laurel, MD on Dec 10. I know of one other TNer competing (StormTheBeach, who’s retarded strong) and VTBalla/mimz have pledge to come and support me. TN party at Laurel High School!

It definitely looked like you had help from your spotter…we will adjust as necessary at your meet and maybe go for 295 as the 3rd…let’s cross that when we come to it

I recommend hammering heavy ass floor presses to help you learn how to engage your glutes while benching–you have zero leg drive…these helped me a ton…

Probably wouldnt bring your grip in anymore…you already have a long ass stroke and bringing it in will make your elbows sink lower when you are at the bottom…BUT if you are stronger with it, then use it…mess around a little bit with it in your next 3’s week…I’d also hit my 2nd @ 92.5% that week too if you decide to move your grip…[/quote]

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE 'SPLAIN THIS TO ME? What is it aabout floor press that makes it so good for glute activation/leg drive? I don’t doubt it. I believe it just would like more 'splainin please

INCOMING SINGLET PICBOMB. Upper 1.

Because I’m concentrating so hard on not getting a blurry pic haha

Smile pic from my fb atch’d.

yeaaaa superhero singlet pics!! draw a big red and yellow S in front!

Hallowed - I’ve tried floor presses with db’s in the past with my heels on the floor. not sure I did them right but I noticed that squeezing my glutes and driving my heels into the ground was just about the only way I could use my lower body to help drive my upper back into the ground.

The vanilla gorilla in a daisy duke unitard = awkwardly awesome.

5/3/1 Meet Prep - 5 weeks out, Day 3/4 (bench/DL deload)

Doubled up my bench/dead deload workouts. I know that’s kinda against the point of a deload, but I was feelin good and I gots 3 days till OHP. Don’t tell Wendler on me.

A1) Bench
110 x 5
135 x 5
160 x 5
…couldn’t resist a few singles at 225/245 for form work

A2) Bentover Row
110 x 10
135 x 8
160 x 8

B1) Deadlift
170 x 5
210 x 5
250 x 5

B2) bodyweight chins, grip halfway between neutral and underhand
3 sets of 7-8 reps

C) Floor Presses
135 x 10
155 x 10
165 x 10

D) Good Mornings
135 x 10, 10, 10

Yeah even at a light weight I had to clench my cheeks pretty good to start the bar moving. I liked it and will be incorporating them into my training post-meet.

God, I wish that nickname wasn’t already taken by Joel Pryzbilla.

what are you eating that makes 5,000 calories???

well, hope whatever you are infected with is leaving your body. That sounds weird.

How long have you been taking these pills??

Your log is amazing! So many lulz…and secksi singlet pics! YAY!

Hilarious on the girl and her political propaganda! Everyone knows that republican chicks are dirty, dirty little girls. shrugs

I wish I could eat 5k calories every day. Sigh…but yeah, i can see how that might make BP go up. Cholesterol too! Be careful, me friend. Btw, you must be pretty tall! You distribute that 220 quite well!

And congrats on the Lymes going away.

Training looks good as always! I love how you guys “deload” and its still looks like a serious workout. Nice stuff.

Do you personally know Pryzbilla? I don’t, so as far as I’m concerned it’s yours bud.

The pills… I’ve been taking some for mycoplasma for maybe 3 months, which helped my knee pain… the other shit, it’s all been introduced at various times over the past couple months.

Haha my food intake is similar to whenver I posted last. I make a 1500 calorie protein shake and split it in 2, have a 50g protein/150g carb workout shake, and get the rest of my cals from solid foods (training days)… non training days are usually weekends when my schedule is weird and I get “creative” in getting in that many calories (read: fast food and Chipotle)

Weirdly, my cholesterol is super low… like, out-of-range low. Nothing about my body makes sense really. Just pluggin along.

I’m 6’3", so yeah, weighing in at 220-230 still aint that big. Used to weigh 180 though. I think I benched 85lbs in college, lol.

Thanks for the compliments! After the pics in your log I had to return the favor.

I’m takin’ it. I suppose being called a gorilla wouldn’t be a compliment to most, but I like it.

The best advice I can give is to try them for yourself (with barbell not db’s) and see if they work for you…be sure to bend your legs (I think CT advocates doing them straight legged, but I could be wrong), drive your heels into the ground, flex those glutes (but keep them legal on the ground) and drive back…if it works for you great! If not, no harm

5/3/1 Meet Prep, 4 weeks out - Day 1 (OHP)

Had a super low key weekend. No shenanigens to report… stayed inside both nights (went to a couple happy hours last week, decided a weekend in was the right call). Friday night I watched Dustin Hoffman in The Bachelor because I am 85 years old.

Also, the interminable deload week is finally over and I can go heavy again.

Workout:

A1) OHP
80 x 5
100 x 5
115 x 3
-work sets-
135 x 3
155 x 3
175 x 3 (no extra reps), coulda gotten a few more here. Can’t wait to start going max reps again on OHP post-meet

A2) Yates Rows, done between warmup sets of OHP
135 x 12
155 x 10
175 x 7

B1) Seated DB OHP
70 x 10
70 x 8
70 x 7

B2) Bodyweight chins
4 x 8, 6, 6, 5

C) Kroc Rows
100 x 20 each arm

Squat tomorrow. Have a friend in town who wants to get back into training, I’m gonna try to show him how to work out. If I’m feeling good I’ll try a single at 315, which would be a PR.

HAH! That’s awesome. I worked on a jigzaw puzzle :frowning:

Nice work! I like that session. Yates rows look badass.

5/3/1 Meet Prep - 4 weeks out, Day 2 (Squat)

So, with the wisdom that comes with age, I am realizing what a tard I was for not thinking I had the hip flexibility to squat with a wide stance. I only ever tried it with light weights (obviously don’t want to try a new stance with your max), but I am now learning that it is waaay easier to get to depth with 250-300 pounds on your back than with one plate on each side. I can squat almost as wide as I want once the bar is weighing near 300lbs. How did I not know this?

Regardless, I know now…

Note: Really scaling back assistance with the meet coming up. Makes me feel like I’m not doing enough work, but it’s not like I’m gonna lose an inch off my biceps in 4 weeks.

Workout:
A) SKWATT
120 x 5
150 x 5
175 x 3
-work sets-
205 x 3
235 x 3
265 (no extra reps) x 3
290 x 1 piece of cake
315 x 1 (PR 15lb) woooo doggie.

Vids were taken of top 3 sets, will upload tonight or tomorrow. Wifi at work is pooing on me.

B) Leg Press
6pps x 8, 8, 9

C) Lying Leg Curl
130 x 8, 8, 7

That’s it. Friend is in town for the night for a convention, and given that I have an off day tomorrow I might indulge in a few adult beverages with him and catch up on old times. (OK so he lives in Baltimore and we see each other every month or two… I can still use that as an excuse to enjoy myself tonight).

Hilar!

I did them for a while not knowing they had a name… typing out Yates Rows is way easier to type than “Bentover BB Rows, elbows-in, squeeze/hold contraction for 1-2secs”. I’m a goober.

Thanks for all the glute input boys!

Ima maybe try those floor presses though most likely I’ll be doing Frenchie’s crazy stripper bar humps. Oh I guess they are called glute bridges. My lifting is mostly physique oriented so…

scj that was no frakking deload. I’ll show you deload.

Sidenote - cholesterol is SO GENETIC. scj are you one of my mediteranean brothers? My Sicilian Island blood seems to keep me cholesterol immune.

Oooooh and NICE SKWATT PR MISTER!
