God what an awful work day. I spent 9 hours working on a presentation I’m giving during an all day 8-hour meeting tomorrow. My client gives these super vague requests than rips me for not knowing exactly what to do. Shoulda followed up when I was unclear on the directions, so it’s on me, but still it’s frustrating. The weird thing is my easiest-to-please client is pissed with me and the one who chews people up and spits them out thinks I’m awesome. shrug.
Rare stress aside, I really wanted a PR in bench tonight. Late ass workout, kinda drained, and didn’t really get it (pretty sure I had spotter help). Just had no adrenaline left.

It definitely looked like you had help from your spotter…we will adjust as necessary at your meet and maybe go for 295 as the 3rd…let’s cross that when we come to it
I recommend hammering heavy ass floor presses to help you learn how to engage your glutes while benching–you have zero leg drive…these helped me a ton…
Probably wouldnt bring your grip in anymore…you already have a long ass stroke and bringing it in will make your elbows sink lower when you are at the bottom…BUT if you are stronger with it, then use it…mess around a little bit with it in your next 3’s week…I’d also hit my 2nd @ 92.5% that week too if you decide to move your grip…
5/3/1 Meet Prep - 6 weeks out, Day 4 (DL)
Awesome day at work, crappy day in gym (pic is angry scj after first ever DL failure).
Hosted full day meeting with a bunch of the more prominent guys in the field of studying weather impacts on aviation (very exciting to all of you I know). It went off without a hitch and I was able to present for 45mins without embarrassing myself in front of some really bright people… was easily the youngest guy in the room (I’m gonna tell myself it was because of my genius that they didn’t tear my presentation apart, and not the fact it was the 7th hour and everyone wanted to go home).
Lifting-wise, well, poop. In retrospect it was dumb to attempt a DL PR after I was mentally fried… plus my nutrition has been dogshit this week because of work. Surprise surprise I am failing on all of my PR attempts. If I’m not diligent for 2 damn days I can feel a big difference.

You absolutely ripped that off the floor but just missed the lockout…focus on getting your hips through up top…have you been stretching them and doing mobility exercise to loosen them up as well?

Yeah I have been doing GHRs since about a couple weeks before you told me that because I knew I needed them. It was definitely my lower back that failed though more than my hams. I didn’t do GMs because the last time I tried them I hated the movement, but I am forcing myself to get them down pat now.
In other words, I thought of that as an “or” statement and it was an “and”. Failing is damn humbling!

Deload week. Pathetically my abs were so sore from 4 sets of ab rollouts on Friday that I couldn’t even do full sets of chinups. Sneezing makes me want to die, it’s really sad. I think I am going to hammer them once/week for the foreseeable future instead of working them in only a couple times a month.
Also, my brother came in town last weekend and we went to the Niners-Redskins game. We are both big Niners fans and it was his first NFL game (my second) so it was a blast. Love talking shit on Skins fans like a fat kid loves cake.

Haven’t had a new story worth telling in a while, and the log needs some action…
So, last weekend, I met this lithe young lass out at a bar in my neighborhood. She asked me to do a shot so obviously I was obligated to talk to her/do another shot or 2/invite her back to my place. She was supah cute and fun, so I was quite pleased with my night. Then, as soon as we get in my house, this drunk biotch immediately demands to know my political affiliation. I’m like, WTF? It’s Friday night at 3am, you want to talk about politics?
I dodged the question but she just started ranting against Obama and how he’s a socialist, how ignorant all democrats are and how liberal propaganda is ruining the country. This went on for - no exaggeration - 20-30 minutes where I said basically nothing but “yup” and “uh huh”. Finally, when even drunkscj could no longer put up with it, I told her to “SHUT THE FUCK UP so I can go to bed.”
She was not pleased, but there weren’t really any cabs at that point, so we passed out ass-to-ass on my bed with no further words spoken and she was gone before I woke up.
Moral of the story: Oh who am I kidding, there is none. I suck at vetting women and will continue to suck at it.

Also, just had a phone consult with my doc. I had a weird thing last friday, when twice the left side of my face went numb. Headaches today and yesterday too. She said it’s actually a good sign and may mean lyme is dying off. I dunno, it all sounds fucking weird to me. I am sick of taking a bajillion herbal supps.
All that said, my energy has improved nicely as of late so I can’t say it’s not working. The High Blood Pressure is really confusing though. I think it may be due to my weight gain and lack of cardio. She read me the results of my tests in the time I’ve been going there, and they somewhat-steadily rose the whole time. Other culprits could be increased fat and sodium intake (I am eating waaaaay too much fat right now, like 180g per day).
Bottom line is I am definitely cutting some weight after the comp, and when I eventually bulk again I will include more cardio and regularly take my BP.

1 on the BP buddy. at the end of my cut, my systolic BP was usually in the 110’s. I checked it lately and it’s in the 130’s =( if I so much as get up fast I can usually feel my whole head pulsating.
Mini Update: I have really backed off the food consumption the past few days. I don’t know why I have high BP, but it doesn’t make sense to cram down 5,000 calories a day when weight is one of the possible culprits. Hell, maybe I’ll even drop down to the 220s for the comp… I weighed in at a ridiculous 223 this morning, lowest weight in a while.
Other than that issue though, life is going great, so hard to complain.
Yesterday was a prescribed off day, Today is an ad hoc off day because I don’t have time to train. I’ll holla atcha all tomorra.
