Arizona should have Spanish as a co-official language alongside English, just like New Mexico. This bid to systemitically punish and disempower a group of people who never asked to be conquered is BULLSHIT.
Them speaking Spanish doesn’t mean you can’t speak English or have to learn Spanish. Instead it simply means respecting the culture of a people who have been there in substantial representation far longer than the Anglos have…hence the name Arizona (Arid-Zone or Dryland more vernacularly).
If the Anglos want to rob the Latinos of their rights, after they signed the treaty to take over their land…they are going to quickly learn you can’t have your cake and eat it to.

What does this mythical idea have to do with a woman who has shown she should not run for public office because has shown to not be proficient in English ?
Also, how are their rights being robbed ? Specifically, where are you getting this ?
SB 1070 is good, which is why SCOTUS took it up, and which is why Obama shit his pants when they did.
This isn’t even about SB 1070. TBH, I was troubled by the ‘where are your papers’ aspect of it, but it is a worrisome truth that Arizona was 10% illegal immigrant at the time it was passed. I think that border integrity should be enforced because it is the law. When countries stop enforcing their laws, everything breaks down.
However, I personally agree with Bush the Younger, when he said (roughly quoted from memory) “Illegal immigration will never be stopped until we provide a legal path for these people to come and work in the USA.” The illegals are literally DYING (bodies litter the Sonora desert) just to do jobs that a welfare queen would bitterly accept. That however is not dealt with by breaking the law, that has to do with changing immigration policy in general.
The issue I am specifically referring to is the other injustices that hover around those who made prior legislation. The ‘English Spoken Here’ law that forbade the use of Spanish by public officials in 1986, and the recent Government mandated ban on Chicano history.
They are telling us, we cannot speak our language even though we have been there before they have, even though we were a majority and now have been around 1/3rd of the population since the mid 1950s.
They are telling us that despite the fact we pay goddamn taxes to this educations ystem, that our ‘culture’ and ‘history’ are banned. That our culture and our history are high treason and an eye sore to that of the conqueror.
This “English proficiency” bs is exactly a manifestation of that. If the woman is a representative of her community of Spanish speaking people, then why the hell does she need to speak English?
Shit like this was the basis of the Quebecois revolution, and is why Quebec shook Canada to the core when they were tired of taking that shit.
If you want to treat us like dogs, expect to get bitten when the tables turned.
Noone is making you speak Spanish, noone is telling you can’t teach your history, noone is telling you, you have to learn our history. However, you Anglos want to crush our history, want silence our language…and why? So you can finally totally dominate us?
Fuck that. We will fight back if you push too hard, because those who are pushed will eventually push back.
I can tell you never even read the law, just like Obama, just like Holder, when SB 1070 came out. You should try pulling this shit in other countries, NO other country is so nice to people here illegally.
Bush was pandering for your vote, and he got it. Obama did the same thing, yet he has deported more people than any other president in history, yet you still support him. That’s your choice, not mine. Bush was also wrong about legalization being the only way. If you cut off the jobs, and deport people from within the city (like Secure Communities does), they leave. Alabama has seen an almost 2% drop in their unemployment rate since they passed their law.
You are wrong about the Chicano Studies ban. It’s not supported IN PUBLIC SCHOOL, which means you can be taught in private schools, so there is no censorship involved. Why the hell are you so pissed off anyways ? Do you see ANY other culture get such privilege in schools ? Shit, everything is bilingual, you get preferential treatment for financial aid, you get in-state tuition, and you STILL fucking complain ? How many other cultures get this treatment ? NONE.
Who is trying to dominating you ? Because, to me, everyone gets hit by taxes, inflation, parking tickets, fees, traffic, gravity, wrinkles, and even a shitty episode of Jersey Shore.

American Latinos =/= Illegal Immigrants.
All your dumbass gripes with the ‘Mexican American’ community are with illegal Immigrants and not Latino Americans. Yet you connotate the Latino Americans who have been here longer than the Anglos, solely with Illegal immigrants.
Further all the ‘issues’ you have with them about ‘ruining neighborhoods’ is no different than Missourians or Michiganders complaining about Blacks ruing their cities.
Just like Blacks, you all conquered us and inherited us, we didn’t ask to be a part of you. So I’m sure the chicanos you hate so much are willing to make you a deal.
Give them their land back, and they will not ruin your cities. Hand over 1/3 of the USA to Mecha and they will finally stfu.
Do it motherfuckers, I bet you don’t have the balls.
Seriously, try to separate your gripes with illegal immigration from the Latino community at large…and you will soon find the truth.

I cannot speak about Missouri or Michigan since I don’t live in either place.
I have seen what you have done with land you were given. You did wonders with our school system and graduation rates. Among the least educated cities, California has 4 of them. Among all the welfare cases in the country, California has 35% of them. We also had little change in overall population, yet took in $2.6 Billion in revenue. Want to know why ? Money makers (aka the rich) moved out, and money takers (aka the poor) moved in. Thank you for that.
You also provided the absolute WORST mayor in history with your Mecha leader, Mayor Tony Villar. Only the people of Los Angeles would elect a fool who failed the California Bar exam 4 times, and still never passed it. Good job.
As far as separating illegal immigration with the Latino community, I have no problem doing that, after all, it’s all those illegal Norwegians we have here who are causing the problems.

“And the fact that the Spanish took over mexico from the indian indigenous population…but they are not trying to give shit back to those poor fuckers.”
"And nobody wants to talk about how important all that money that immigrants (both legal and illegal) send back to Mexico…it is a HUGE part of that economy.
Which is why the Mexican government gets all hissy when the U.S. cracks down on illegals…they desperately need that money coming home.
I mean, why else would the mexican government join a lawsuit against the state of Arizona’s new immigration law…when that law is FAR LESS INVASIVE than mexico’s OWN IMMIGRATION LAW."
For starters…

Thus is bigotry. They won’t even consider the refutations of every single argument I have given them. Instead the repititious pronouncement of ad hominem attacks on me as an ‘HH avatar’, ethnophaulic depictions of Latinos in films, and a straw man of the ‘illegal immigrant’ as if he represents all Latinos, or as if all illegal immigrants were Latinos, become their only weapon.
I took the time to refute every single one of these mens’ points, and did so successfully. Yet they just walk on, put their fingers in their ears, and carry on with their odious transference of society’s ills upon a scape goat group.
This is why this is all going to get worse and not better.

Firstly, I never said I was oppossed to SB 1070. I have clarified that on numerous occassions. You obviously haven’t read and have just decided to spew your one sided bile into the argument without reading anyone elses posts.
Further, Mexicans-Americans are the same as Latinos. They are a constituent group of the larger Latino people but they are not synonymous with Latinos. The point I am making, which I have made several times before, is that you project your gripes with illegal immigration and Mexico with all Latinos.
Chicanos have been in the Southwest before Mexico even existed. The legislation that I have taken issue with, is the fact that the slimly majority Anglo populatin of Arizona has used their mob rule to systemitcally eliminate Chicano (notice it is not Mexican-American, but Chicano) history, and the Spanish language from all government apparatti.
They have pinpointed the Chicanos to be the ONLY group in Arizona not to be allowed to initiate a study of their history in their local school district. They did not tell Jews, or African-Americans that they could not do the same. That is bigotry.
Further, we have the right to speak Spanish, we were there before you, we were the majority until the early 1900s, and we will be the majority in the next 25 years again. Spanish is as valid in the Southwest, as French is in Quebec. You can’t deny our heritage, that goes against the treaties signed after the Mexican-American war, and the United States Constitution.
“And the fact that the Spanish took over mexico from the indian indigenous population…but they are not trying to give shit back to those poor fuckers.”
This is a tu quoque logical fallacy as Anglo-America did the exact same thing, yet you are not invalidated in your own eyes by that?
Further, Mexicans can’t be said to have ‘robbed the natives’ of their land, as they ARE largely natives. Within the Mexican population, an overwhelming majority (80%) are of mixed race descent, European and Amerindian ancestry. With the mean ancestry of Mestizo (Mixed-Race) Mexicans as genetically 58.96% European, 31.05% “Asian” (Amerindian), and 10.03% African [Zolezzi NP]; of this, the most substantial Amerindian ethnic contribution is Aztec descent. The term ‘Aztec’ is synonymous with Mexican identity itself, even the name Mexico is derivation of term ‘Mexica’ which was the Aztec language term for the Aztec civilization [Andrews 500]. Native Americans and First Nations people in the United States and Canada are given the right to inhabit in either country as the borders of each are artificial to them. This is further justified in that indigenous language groups in Canada are also found in the contiguous United States, confirming a shared lineage and rights of residency in either country. If this right is granted to the Native Americans of Canada and the USA, how could the right of ‘Aztec-Americans’ in the form of modern Mexicans to travel between either side of the border be rejected? Especially considering that only 2.5% of Anglo-Americans carry any native blood [DNA TRIBES NP], compared to the overwhelming majority of Mexicans. Further, the ancestral birth place of the Aztec people is Aztlan as defined in their oral traditional and codices. Most scholars place Aztlan in the modern Southwestern United States and not in modern Mexico. This would be confirmed by the fact that Native American linguists found the widest distribution of Uto-Aztec speakers nearly one-hundred miles north of the US border, distributed between Southern California to mid Oregon, East to mid Idaho and South to Colorado; while the language was virtually non-existent south of this region until the deserts of modern Sonora down to its highest concentration in the region that surrounds modern Mexico City then known as Tenochtitlan. (In Search of Aztlan NP)
This being the case modern Mexicans have a greater ancestral right to inhabitance of or passage through the American Southwest than Anglo-Americans do, and this right would be consistent with the current policy of the US administration towards Native Americans. In addition, it is a far more recent and genetically based claim to an ‘ancestral homeland’ than that of Israel, whose populace is far less semitic than the Mexicans are Aztec [Katnelson NP], as well as being more than 2000 years separated from their ?homeland?. With the United States’ shameless support for Israel on board the UN Security Council and geo-political military map, it would seem an aversion to recognition of a historical right to Aztlan as entirely hypocritical. Such an aversion would be logically inconsistent with two current policies, and thus an illogical rejection of it, may reflect the rising anti-hispanic prejudice described previously.
"And nobody wants to talk about how important all that money that immigrants (both legal and illegal) send back to Mexico…it is a HUGE part of that economy.
This is idiotic and shows no understanding of economics. The money sent back by immigrants to Mexico is used to purchase US goods, thus coming back once again.
Further, it is something done by all groups in America. Indians send money to India, Japanese send money to Japan etc etc. Even Anglos do it, you all invest in foreign markets through the stock market and buy Japanese cars en masse.
Once again Mexicans =/= US Latinos.
US Latino Community =/= Mexico
Finally, I have said that I am disturbed by but not entirely oppossed to SB 1070 many times. I have stated on an infinite number of occasions that changing US Immigration Law is not done by violating it. I am oppossed to the current set up, but I don’t encourage anyone to break it, nor do I discourage Arizona from enforcing what the federal government has dropped the ball on. I think the best way to fight it, is in court, which is what they are doing. Although the angle they are going at, is not the one I would choose.
I don’t really care if you all think I am HH or not.
The original reasoning why you all thought I was HH, was because supposedly my ‘writing’ style didn’t match my appearance. Then it all just carried on from there. It just shows what a bunch of bigoted morons you all are, as a Latino man is somehow incapable of also being a man of letters. That tells me all I need to know about you. You can pretend I’m HH all you want if that makes you feel better, and easier to maintain your stereotypes about Latino people. I seriously don’t care, the tables are already going to turn on your asses in 20 years…so you’ll learn soon enough.
LOL you regurgitated the same tired La Raza dogma that you spewed through this thread (and yes I read every one of your posts).
The “we were here first, and we will be here last” argument is tired and stupid…nobody is preventing you from speaking spanish or even teaching it…just not with public funds, maybe you missed that.
The majority of Latinos in the American Southwest are mexican…
So…Mexican = Majority of Southwestern U.S. Latinos.
And WTF does this mean…“The money sent back by immigrants to Mexico is used to purchase US goods, thus coming back once again.” Money sent by illegals to their families in mexico is used to purchase U.S. goods? For realz?
And you failed to address how Mexico talks about racism and lost territory out of one side of their mouth (joining the lawsuit against AZ) while having very invasive and harsh immigration laws of their own.
As well as building a rather large, nasty fence to keep out those Guatemalans they love so much…
But it’s all whitie’s fault in the end, right Mr. Puerto Rico?
Rohnyn your an idiot. I bet your one of the Latinos who plays Mexican corridos without even knowing a fucking spanish word. Has aztec tattoos with no knowledge in what they mean. Yeah you may sound smart but you know damn well Mexico is extremely corrupt for you to claim we should hand the land back just wait till your coconut ass gets pulled over.
Have you told them how heavily secured the border between Guatemala and Mexico is? They will beat your ass when they get you.
Also it bears mentioning that I spend a lot of time in Mexico…my family owns property and a house there.
I am asked quite frequently for my “papers” which is why I get a little pissed off when Latinos SCREAM RACISM when there is a law requiring them to show I.D. if they get pulled over.
OH DEE RACIST WHITEEEEEEEE

This is what I mean instead of responded you make remarks like this. What he typed is true in every post Max has made he lumps all Latinos together with “Illegal Immigrants” he blames all the problems of California on “Illegal Immigrants” as if the same can not be said about black communities, and white communties around the country but, because they are legal it is all OK.
He makes it seem as if wanting to learn about ones culture is a refusal to be American when Latinos just want the same rights that all other cultures get around the country. He writes about how they do not speak english proficiently when he damn well knows that Asian communties all around California have the same issues which is why everything is in up to 4 languages but, because as he put it “how much do the people of Monterrey Park, Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, or Walnut make up in the grand scheme of California ?” what it is not a issue/problem?
You heard the phrase when in Rome… well that is basicaly what people are trying to say to you without resorting to calling you names and insulting you in the process.
I have no problem with people coming here becoming citizens of the U.S.A. while contributing to this great Country and becoming American while still embracing their heritage BUT I have a problem with people who think they are ENTITLED.

That’s a simplistic view of the situation. We might as well build a great wall like China and we all know how well that worked. This is a problem that can’t be solved by something so simple.
Migrant workers (many of whom have been illegaly) are currently and have always been an important part of California. We have a agricultural base that is dependent upon those types of workers. Ironically enough we pretty much force these places to hire illegal workers because we expect our food to be dirt cheap. So the cost of labor has to be really low for these companies to make a profit. So if you hire American workers and pay them a higher wage then you end up going out of business because you have nobody to pass those costs onto. Of course there’s always government subsidies…
