However, while such occasional convenience foods might be a fun way to mix up your diet, I’m concerned about the amount of sodium nitrate in these goodies. In addition to the various possible long-term health risks in overconsumption of nitrates, there’s also its use as an anti-aphrodesiac. Does it have any effect on hormone production?

I have no info on the hormonal effects of nitrates. In my opinion, nirates are like everything else, too much is a bad thing, but in moderation, its O.K. You should never rely on one type of food as your sole source of nutrition.
