I do reviews for Xbox games and have been involved in the gaming industry in some way for years now. It was amazing what those guys did with the NES. In hind sight it is a pretty simple machine and very low in power compared to todays behemoth consoles. Most of the games I get are crap compared to the titles mentioned above. Although I do love my Star Wars KOTOR. Between Zelda, Metroid, and the Super Mario franchise I am surprised I ever slept.
Oh, dear Lord look what I started. Super Mario Brothers for the nintindo.
Best 2 Games:
River City Ransom
Tecmo Super Bowl
marble madness. all the ninja gaidens. all the marios [especially the duece].avoid the noid.all the megamans.all the castlevanias. punch out. ghost and goblins.all the zeldas.double dribble.bubble bobble.and about 250 more.my brother got a little purple cartridge from japan that was half the size of a normal cartridge, that had over 80 games on it . all complete games, no demos or nothin like that. that thing was pretty cool.oh yeah, duckhunt.
Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Brothers, Tecmo Bowl, John Elway’s Quarterback, Dragon Warrior, California Games, Contra, Super Contra, Battletoads, Ninja Turtles.
My parents still have a working NES and sometimes when I go home I play Super Mario Brothers and can still beat the game without warping and without losing a life.
I loved Baseball Stars. I remember setting up a baseball stars league in the 8th grade. I loved the tecmo bowls and tecmo basketball. LArry Bird never missed.
Damn, how could I forget both Castlevania and Double Dribble? Ya had to love the “sweet spots” on the court where you could drain the 3pt. every time. I used to irritate my buddies big-time with that one.
Konami definitely made the best Nintendo games…another good one I didn’t see mentioned was Blades of Steel.
what game used the code ABBA for free lives? contra?
metroid, castlevania, spy hunter, mach1? dig dug, duck hunt, tysons punch out
Double Dribble and Contra… Definitely the best of Nintendo.
I think it was Ikari warriors that had the ABBA, up, down, up, down cheat. Don’t ask me how I remember that.
My vote goes towards Baseball Stars and Super Tecmo Bowl without question!!!
Other favs:
Punch Out
Kung-Fu
RBI Baseball
Duck Hunt
Rad Racer
Tecmo Bowl was awesome, just be the Raiders, you dominate with bo, marcus, and tim brown. Punchout is pretty sweet too, you play that game enough and you totally memorize every punch.
my roomates got an nes [when his girl hasnt hijacked it for disciplinary reasons] and showed me somethin i’d never seen. on the original mario, theres a way you can get to a never ending level, but i cant quite remember how, if i find out, i’ll post it. good call on battletoads
Re: Tecmo Bowl (the first one). I remember a friend of mine always used the Chicago Bears and there was one play that could not be countered. He would use it for every single play and it always worked, although I can’t remember if it was only against the computer or against a regular opponent as well.

Contra and Double Dribble kept myself and my friend up till 3am every school night during high school.
Wasn`t Maniac Mansion programmed on Nintendo (eventually)? Not sure, I am part of the C64 gen…
ms. veddar, that mousecappades referance was one of the coolest things i’ve seen in a long, long time.i completely forgot about it.
bayou billy, friday the 13th, someone mentioned river city ransom, golgo 13,pitfall &super pitfall[hells yes], my buddy still has marble madnes. that was made in 1983. think about that.the graphics are actually pretty good. i still think mario 2 was the coolest game the nintendo ever came up with.
oh yeah, kid icarus, trojan, bad news baseball, they’ll keep comin to me, promise
Has anyone here every beat the entire Punchout game for Nintendo. I could get to the last two or three guys pretty easy, but those guys were tough.
