i know there good for lifting in but do you think they could qualify as school shoe because they look ok and feel very comfortable but would they be good for wearing all day?

I wear mine all day unless I am at work. These are shoes.
- How much are they?
- How do they compare to Chuck’s?

I haven’t tried the Free’s, so maybe I’m not in the right place to comment, but from what I understand they are completely different.
It sounds like the Free’s are for comfort and the “barefoot” feel. Chucks are nothing like that.
Chucks are flat and sturdy. Their soles prevent side rolling. And I wouldn’t call the Chucks comfortable, at least not for all-day wear.
I love my Chucks for squatting, but that’s all I wear them for. This, and the other threads have convinced me to try out a pair of the Free’s soon.
I have a pair of the Nike Free Trainers 5.0 and I love them. I am going to get a pair of the 7.0’s soon it kind of sucks I’ll have to order them online, I typically like to try the shoe on before buying it.
I have a pair of wrestling shoes also and only wear these for squatting and deadlifting otherwise I wear my Frees for all other training purposes and when I’m not in the gym also.
Are the 5.0s ok to use for sprints, agility , and the like?
Or is the extra support of the 7.0s necessary for that?

most sprint shoes have less support that the frees. and you can sprint in your bare feet, right? you’ll be fine

Puma H Street… as flexible as the free, but a thinner midsole… IMO the next best thing to going barefoot

I wouldn’t worry too much about the sizing if your happy with the 5.0’s. I own both the 5 and 7’s, and they fit identically for me.

While I can still find them online, every store in my area no longer has any of the models. and I’ve been told it’s an “old” shoe now. Hopefully, they will be replaced with something better. Either that, or I better order like a dozen pair of the Nike site.
I hadn’t heard that one. I am actually surprised their popularity hasn’t grown more but I guess that probably has to do with how few people actually “train” in any way that warrants wearing them. They need to advertise the “weight lifting” aspect of them because I think some people only associate them with running.[/quote]
Yup…I agree whole heartily they should really push the weight training aspect of these, and even market them to the walking\low intensity cardio crowd. They are simply the most comfortable thing I’ve worn for either of these activities.
I’m also hoping, like someone else said in the thread, that the stores don’t know what they are talking about, and you don’t see them there as they don’t sell quickly. I’m fine with getting them on line as I know what size I need now!

Thanks dude, I was actually about to look through the thread and see who has both the 5.0 trainers and the 7.0’s to see if the sizing is the same.

I don’t have the Free’s but am going to look into getting some.
I use these shoes for lifting and they are excellent. They are by far the best shoes I have ever used while squatting or deadlifting. It feels like you are barefoot.
Ok, these aren’t the exact shoes I wear but they are close.
Just picked up a pair of the 5.0’s today and am thoroughly impressed, but I have one question.
I’ve noticed that some of you guys have said you don’t wear socks with them. Well I tried this out and got a blister on the instep of my left foot. Has anybody else gotten blisters from not wearing socks with their free’s?
I haven’t had a blister issue, but I have to my Nike Free’s are in like size fucking 14 because Nike, and most other athletic shoe makers, apparently refuse to use basic fucking foot sizing guidelines and give an option for different shoe widths.
Just bought some Nike Free 7.0 for my son for off season football workouts. They were a little hard to find, I had to drive 30 min or so to a different mall with a Champs.
He lifted in them today and likes them a lot so far. Tomorrow is speed training… I hope they are as good as advertsed.
5.0s are all over the place here, and the really ugly ones are on sale pretty cheap.

Yeah, I really don’t understand why “fucked up” was a color selection for those. It is better when you design your own. I have three pairs of them and they are all professionally designed…by me.
I have some questions I’m hoping you guys can answers. I actually have three (just bought a third) pairs.
The original 5.0’s I wear for just walking around. The 5.0 trainers I have been wearing for sprints, plyos, and olympic weightlifting. However, my feet have a tendenceny to roll out on heavy squats, and the 5.0 trainers do not give enough lateral support to prevent this. So I just bought the 7.0 trainers which have much more lateral support.
-
Is the issue of my feet rolling out to the sides during squats a dysfunction or is it considered normal?
-
It is very cold where I am, so until now I have been wearing the free’s with thin socks, and have removed the insole from both the regular and trainer 5.0s to compensate. From what I understand, an insole is just there to provided added support, so I figure that by removing the insole and adding a thin sock - I am not really changing anything… Is this right?
I ask because I am also considering removing the insoles of my new 7.0s… -
Does anyone wear the frees without insoles or socks?
Nike must be getting ready to update the 7.0s. I tried to find some in size 14 on the Internet and couldn’t find any color except as an earlier poster said “fucked up”. If you wear a smaller size though you can get some pretty good discounts

Strangely enough, nike.com was out of 7.0 for designing your own…

I doubt that a thin sock is giving you the same support that the insole gives.
