NFL Off-Season 2013

Just to clear things up. Brady did NOT take less money. His deal actually pays him more it just frees up some space this year and if he gets hurt he gets paid out the rest of his deal.

Basically a fully guaranteed contract.
His last deal was 6 years/$60 million. This one is 3 years/$27 million. That’s 9 years for $87 million. Peyton Manning has made about 70% more in the same time frame. Yes, he has and is taking less money. It’s less than half of what the market says he’s worth.

EDIT: Anyhow, I’ll let it go, because I don’t even like the fucking guy. My original point was that he can make a lot of money by being a pretty boy and Flacco can’t because he looks like he should be getting butt-fucked by Ernie in their tidy one-bedroom apartment on Sesame Street.

You are both confusing cap numbers with how much they will actually be paid.

So he went from making $60 million to making $87 million but that is somehow less money?

He’s also on his what 4th or 5th contract. Dude’s got have 100s of millions of $. Let’s not foget Flacco just ended his rookie contract his year.

Oh maybe, I don’t really know how the cap vs. actual $'s works in the NFL.

Ya, Flacco is only getting like 6.8M this year. It’s year 3, 28M or so, that’s the problem.
He definitely vastly put preformed his deal for this year, I won’t argue that. He deserves a long term deal and a lot of money but IMO they gave too much and it could bite them in the butt. That’s all I’m saying.
Ya man, I’m with you. Anytime you put that much into a single player, It’s a gamble. Knock on wood he hasn’t missed a game yet. Hopefully that continues.

Edit:

Not to harp on it, I just like the guys attitude. He’s not, at least in public, cocky at all and he cares about winning and that’s it. His post signing interview all he said he ever cared about was respect, it was never the money. That’s the kind of guy I want around.
Yeah I saw his interview and he seems like a good guy. Good for him. He was rocking a pretty serious double chin for a quarterback though. Might want to tighten up that diet Flacco lol

Hahah, he’s a big dude for a QB.

Hahaha.

I see what you’re saying about him extending for 3x$27 million but he didn’t give any money back like people make it out to be. He just moved some money around and guaranteed himself a huge payout of he gets hurt.

I thought Reggie Bush was a free-agent this year. I’m surprised to not hear anything on him.

Tom Brady got a raise, and the media made people believe he took a pay cut. He’s guaranteed 3 million less from his new contract than his old contract was worth total. GUARANTEED. The only way he can make less money is if he gets cut because he’s bad(collective lol’s from everyone), because it’s all injury protected.

^^ok that’s what I thought.

He took “pay cuts” in his base salary to make cap space but is getting “signing bonuses” each year that actually pay him more than his salary would have been.

Tricky patriots front office. Smart.

Just keep in mind that NFL contracts aren’t guaranteed, and you’re fine. (only signing bonuses are, if you’re truly keeping track)

As such, there’s 0% chance that Flacco will play out that contract as-is. He’ll either re-structure down the road or be released by the team. But for now anyway, he does get to wear the crown.

You’re right. The FA signing period hasn’t started yet but fairly certain we’ll hear his name again before we hear where Burner or R Moss land.

He is, pretty sure he won’t be back with Miami as Lamar Miller looks to be a pretty good replacement there.

Also Dolphins not tagging Jake Long, his durability has been a bit of a question mark and his form has dropped off the last 2 years but I’m pretty sure he will be a good pick up for someone (Bears?)

Haha, very true.

Northern Iowa WR Terrelle Sinkfield (sp) ran a 4.19 40, I believe the fastest 40 recorded

Who the fuck is this guy

Part of me loves seeing this and part of me is dissappointed. Sherman should of been the better man here. He is an professional and should act so. No matter how much you despise someone. But again, it was enjoyable if I had to be honest.
