The kid needs to check his ego at the door. He certainly has talent but he was also playing as a freelance in LSU’s system. There are underlying reasons why Miles kicked him off the team and Im curious why.

We gave up far too much for Smith. The 34th overall pick and a 3rd which could become a 2nd. He is not worth that at all. I think swapping 3rds and giving up a 4th would have been appropriate. It doesn’t seem like we were in a bidding war either. The 49ers rode us to the bank.
I couldn’t disagree with this more. Alex Smith is a proven NFL Quarterback. Top 15 in the league for sure and maybe top ten. There’s no way the 34th and a 3rd rounder comes anywhere close in value. The Cheifs rode us to the bank.
Agreed. The picks were worth getting a damn good QB.

You are not very smart, Calvin has 9 inches on the young baller, a 4 inch higher vertical, and runs the 40 .15 seconds slower. He is unable to jam at the line and is not anything other than a nickel corner. The balla can play but he is not a man on man on the outside corner, Calvin would burn him for 200 yards. I also doubt you played junior college ball either.
Even S Smith had to chime in

I really dislike ESPN. The only program I enjoy watching is their 30 for 30 films. They do a great job on them.

For the most part I can’t stand ESPN anymore. I do enjoy Sports Nation some times and I’ve always been a fan of PTI. That is a really well done show.

You do realize that that isn’t Stephen A. Smith, right?
http://bleacherreport.com/users/2121184-stephen-a-smith
Bleacher Report is a completely horrendous sports site written by guys who don’t anything more about the game than you or I, and in many cases they don’t know shit. I doubt that Smith would a) even be allowed to partake in any discussions on a supposed competitor’s site b) claim that the most unbreakable record in sports, according to his bio, is his use of the word “nigger” on TV, and c) claim that his favorite team is the Lakers.
What makes the writer of that article a complete idiot is when he said that Calvin Johnson’s season was the best ever by a wide receiver.
I don’t care how many yards you gain, if you only get into the end zone 5 times the whole season you don’t belong on a list of the greatest single seasons by a wide receiver.
^^that season definitely belongs on the greatest seasons by a WR list and to claim otherwise is just showing biased.
Come on man, the guy racked up the most yards by a receiver EVER but it doesn’t belong on the list? Come on DB.

Honestly DB I spent a grand total of 1 minute looking at that. Could really care less, I only go to NFL.com to read stuff, I even stopped going to Pro Football talk dot com.
I get all my info from listening to Sirius NFL radio all day on my computer, less hype and bullshit and more about the X-O’s and real business moves.

How long is this list? I get it, he broke the record for most yards ever. Great. Last I checked teams won by scoring points not gaining yards. Obviously they come hand in hand, but FIVE touchdowns? That’s not a lot at all. Didn’t Crabtree have more than that? Didn’t Jerry Rice and Randy Moss have more than 4 times that many touchdowns? How many touchdowns did Rice have when he set the previous record? He had 15! Three times as many TD as Johnson!
I would say that Moss’ season back in 1998, 2003 and 2007 was better, as was Rice’s season in 1987, 1989, 1993 and 1995. Marvin Harrison in 1999 and 2002 arguably had better seasons as well. Terrell Owens in 2001 might even have a case. These are all seasons in which the receivers went for at least 1400 yards and had three times the touchdowns that Johnson had. I think the least touchdowns scored in those seasons I listed was 15.
So, in my opinion, a very strong case could be made that Johnson just had the 12th best season ever by a wide receiver. There’s no way he had better seasons than the ones listed from Moss and Rice, so I don’t think that his season this year even cracks the top 5.
Go ahead, look at their stats right here.
^^yeah but TD’s aren’t everything.
Look at AP. He had one of the best seasons by an RB every but was tied for 3rd/4th in rushing TD’s this year… But he clearly had the best year.
Moss and Rice played on MUCH better teams than Johnshon did. The Lions are terrible and for him to be literally their only offensive option and put up those numbers is crazy.
Can anyone tell me about this Ziggy (DE or LB)guy from BYU…or this Corduroy guy from Tenessee (WR)

For what its worth, here’s Kiper Jr’s latest info:
I’ve been paying attention to Patterson as he’s consensus #1 WR prospect and I’ve seen him to the Rams in a few mocks. But no clue if he’s got AJ/Julio upside or if DHB is the more appropriate comparison.
I’m also hoping that S-Vaccaro is an available option, given HC-Fisher’s defensive pedigree.
^^I think Patterson is going to be a bust. He, IMO, is a classic case of drafting based on potential. Like a JaMarcus Russell… All the physical tools but not going to pan out.
Thanks, so many holes to fill, it doesn’t ,matter what position they draft
Flacco now the highest paid player in football. I know he had a great playoff run, but wow.
Wow, that’s $60 million for each eyebrow.
^^lol.
Perfect timing for Flacco. He’s good but he’s no Brees, Manning, Brady or Rodgers.
This deal is going to bite Baltimore in the behind. They won’t be able to sign key free agents going forward and better hope they have amazing drafts and can get a lot out of their rookie contracts cause they won’t be able to afford to keep many guys after that.
