NFL Discussion Thread 2009

Its not whining. You have to stand up for your team and the guys putting their hearts into the game and getting flagged for basically just touching Brady. One the Suggs call, he was jumping up and downs asking for a flag and rthe ref gave it to him. How the “roughed up” QB be standing, let alone jumping up and down and then grinning after he gets a call.

That was horseshit. Ngata was trying to deflect the ball when he got pushed and his arm barely came across brady’s face. Harbaugh was right for chewing them out. Zebra are fucking it up again.

It was awesome when Harbaugh ‘belichicked’ Belichick haha…coldest handshake ever.

Yet someone called LT the softest player in the league.

Are you honestly comparing Roethlisberger, a first round draft choice and 2x SB-winning franchise QB, to Tommy Maddox, insurance salesman and XFL QB? Holy fucking shit.

Just have to give the 49ers some love. I know they destroyed the lowly Rams, but it was a great win and Patrick Willis once again showed why some think that he is the best linebacker in the league. I can’t wait to get Gore back, although Coffee has looked pretty hot (laughs?), not to mention his cool last name. Hopefully the NFC West will be theirs!

Don’t get yer panties in a bunch…I’m on your side when it comes to my Stillers lol. I’m not comparing the two QB’s just the concept. I’d rather be a running team first and throw second. Problem is they’re more suited to pass with the people they have on the roster.Where’s Ziggy Hood so far I’d like to know. Not even sure he’s taken a snap this regular season.

Going to Detroit this weekend for the game…counting the hours.

Go Black and Gold

Steelers have one of the most balanced offenses in the league. Be grateful.

I agree with that 100%. We will always be “in your face” type football offensively AND defensively, but do you remember how we got to and won the SuperBowl last year?

Oooo, that Ravens/Browns game was like watching someone pistol whip a blind kid. It definitely won’t be that easy next week in New England.
You’re right, it was’nt.(and to those of you who picked atlanta last week-you don’t get it do you?) And no I don’t want to hear about “Brady getting all the calls”
Ponder this:
did you think the Bronco’s would be 4-0?
did you think The Saints would be this good?
are you really shocked the following teams still suck
St Louis
Tampon Bay
The Sea Chickens
Oakland
Cleveland
How 'bout those Steelers almost choking away a 28-0 lead?
and while many of you are hope Brett Farve gets hit so hard he sharts himself, the Vikings are still the better TEAM-think about that tonight
I hoping the Patriots do some more deals with the cryptkeeper.,…er Al Davis. It’s like handing a little kid two one’s and taking a 5 from him. Hey Raiders-BOHICA!
Thats stands for Bend Over Here It Comes Again
out

How about the call where Flacco got brushed and the flag was thrown. All QB’s will try and get that call, NOT JUST BRADY. Were they good calls…debatable for sure. But you have to play the game regardless. i am so tire of people piling on the Patriots, saying they only got success by cheating, Brady gets all the calls etc. You cannot possses a high degree of intelligence if you truly believe that. Yes there a couple of questionable calls in the game. Home boy dropping that pass at the end of the game is what truly cost you

The Steelers do look like an average team without Palamalo, I know spelling is not right. If you think about it they could easily be 0-3, if not for the Titans win. I never knew they where so many Charger fans in this world.

Shawn Merriman is off the juice and look at how average he is. Any who a great football weekend. Did you guys hear about Rodney Harrison the former safety calling T.O. a loser on Sunday Night Football? This from a guy who took HGH and got suspended, the irony. We may dislike T.O. but he brings his A game every Sunday.
His A game is’nt what it used to be. And Tony Dungy called out too. Actually Harrison called him a clown. He is a fucking clown

The G-men looked great, the defense was steller as always this time they shut down the run and Tampa only had 28 rushing yards for the entire game. As a matter of fact the Bucs didn’t get over 100yrds of total offense against the Giants. Ahmad Bradshaw looked like a tiny Dave Megget the way he was creating holes and fighting for extra yards. Got another easy one next week against KC, its good to be a New Yorker right now. Even the Jets are getting some shine.
USC could beat Tampon Bay. Look I be stoked if my team played arguably 3 out the 4 worst teams in the NFL in a row-Not saying the Giants did’nt look good. And Mark Sanchez just found out he’s still a rookie. That said the Jets are tough

and that the 49ers have the best offensive (Gore) and defensive (Willis) players in the game. (biased opinion)

Are you out of your mind? PS The 49’rs beating the hapless SeaChickens proves little. And you will eat your words on Brady, trust me

That’s what I like to hear! Finally got some fires burning. I agree that the 49ers will have a tough test in Minnesota, but they can pull it out (note they held AP to 3 yards last time they player, 3 YARDS). Love to hate Brady, and he looks very uncomfortable, I’d be happy if he stays that way.

Lions get there first win this weekend.
The 49’rs look good (poor St Louis), and Brady looks alot more comfortable to me. You could’nt pay me to run the ball on the 1yd line against Ray Lewis

Since Rivers is on bye this week who should I start in my fantasy league? Should I take a chance on Trent Edwards against the Browns? Matt Cassel against Dallas??

If this isn’t the thread for fantasy talk just igore it.

For god’s sake DO NOT take Edwards-Cassel maybe. Are those your only choices?

My league is deep. I drafted Cassel as a back up. Other options are Collins v Colts (bad), Sanchez v Miami (improving secondary), Shaun Hill v Atlanta (pedestrian fantasy numbers), Dellhomme v Washington (he’s a bitch), and Kevin Kolb who would be nice but McNabb I’m pretty sure McNabb is coming back.

I got Rivers too, but have Flacco as his backup so i feel good about that.

I think i would go with Cassel, or maybe whoever is playing at home.

What a hell of a game for Brett Favre and Minnesota tonight. And GOOD FOR HIM!

Damn, Minnesota’s got some awesome defense right now too. 7 sacks tonight! Jared Allen is a fuckin beast.

I grew up in Chicago, and as such, was definitely not a Green Bay fan, but always admired the passion Brett Favre has had for what he does. And those fuckers did him wrong. I was so happy to see this game tonight. They made a fan out of me.

Kubo

What about them steelgirls?? Should be 1-3… man where did all this Charger fans come from? Seriously both the Chargers and the Cowboys are so much alike, extreme talent but weak head coaches who both lack instilling discipline.
Both the Cowboys and Chargers will miss the playoffs. So much for Tony Romo. Them Steelgirls are overrated for now but they are the defending Champions. After week 4, what are you fellas thoughts now on future predictions for this season? What has anything changed?

I for one see the Cowboys as self-destructing by the end of the season along with the Chargers. Cincinnati is for real in my opinion, Broncos will fall down to where they belong, but there weak conference may help them. The Vikings are going all the way at least to the NFC title game. The Pats are back, unfortunately. Also cannot wait to see TO implode.

Early Division Champion Predictions:

AFC North: Ravens
AFC South: Colts
AFC East: Jets
AFC West: Broncos

NFC North: Vikings
NFC South: Saints
NFC East: Giants
NFC West: 49ers

AFC Wild Card: Patriots
NFC Wild Card: Eagles

I’d say those predictions are pretty spot on except i would give the Pats the division title and the Jets the wildcard. The Pats will beat them at home the next time they play.

I have to say i’m really anticipating that Ravens vs. Steelers matchup.
