I hate to say it, but the Chargers’ run at a Super Bowl is done. They had their last chance two years ago, but were doomed by injuries. They are now on the downside of the peak. It’s time to clean house and start over. A.J. has to go. Norv has to go. Merriman and LT have to go. We have to bring in a coach that can promote a culture of winning.

Special teams is pretty solid. Kaeding and Scifres are great and Sproles in the return game is fantastic.

Most of the offense is great. We just need to add (1) a bruiser running back and (2) an O-line. Everything else (Rivers, Sproles, Gates, Jackson, Chambers) should stay put.

We need to completely overhaul the Chargers’ defense. I can’t really think of any players that are worth keeping. I’m sure there are some, but there are none that I would really, really hate to see leave. This is the worst defensive unit in the league and is full of prima donnas (looking at you, Cromartie and Merriman). Fuck!

Ravens for life

Of course someone would say this that never watched the guy play early in his career. A guy that played through a game years ago with a broken rib. He just doesn’t have the explosiveness and heart that he use to have. He’s on his way out.

On another note, the Chargers defense is atrocious. It’s not the Defense Coordinator this time, it’s the players. People keep saying that they players look good on paper. Well you know what, they just aren’t that good. I agree that after this year the whole defense needs to be overhauled. Other than the passing offense and special teams, the team is pathetic. I don’t think they are good enough to beat the donkeys in two weeks.

First of all you have no idea how many games I have or have not watched and second I’m talking in the present tense. This is a ‘what have you done for me lately’ league and LT doesn’t deserve more than 10 carries anymore.

Their defensive problems stem from the coaches. It starts with Turner. He’s horrible. Jon Gruden should be hired asap. He will whip that team into shape. The Chargers have most of the same players that they had when the D was putting up good numbers and playing cohesively. And it’s not like their core players are anywhere near past their prime.

Chill the fuck out, dude. LT is the man. Hopefully he can retire with grace and become part of a 2 pack system.

Norv has got to go. But I can’t believe people don’t know the real reason our defense is sucking: Jamal Williams. He held the whole fucking thing together and without him our defense is shit.

agreed! I thought the exact same thing last week when i realized the bucs dumped him or whatever happened.

I would love seeing gruden take charge of our team.

Great point. The tackle is the lynch pin in all of the 3-4 defenses. Is Jamal hurt or was he traded like Igor?

Their defense hasn’t been dominant since the year they went 14-2. I agree that the coaching is part of the problem. There is also the problem that they don’t have a good nose tackle for the 3-4 defense they run. The 3-4 defense thrives on a great nose tackle. Their defense ends are average at best. The inside linebackers are a stronger part of the defense. Outside linebackers have been terrible this year. Merriman hasn’t been the same since the injury. Weddle is pretty good at safety and Gregory is alright. Jammer is usually pretty solid at CB and Cromartie is just way overrated. He is just too soft and leaves too much of a cushion between him and the receiver.

While they do have talent that could be coached better, they also have weaknesses that are getting exploited. They are losing the battle at the line and that where it all starts to go downhill.

Didn’t see your post, but Jamal was injured the first game and is out all year. He was already getting old and has knee problems the last few years.

On another note, is the Steelers defense really that bad without Polomalu? Last year they held us to ten points during the regular season in their house.

My bet is Super Bowl hangover, that’s all. And Willie Parker isn’t getting enough carries.

Steelers win by:
Running the ball
Stopping the run

Simple.

I think it’s more of a combination of “we’re the #1 D last year and champs” hangover, plus the fact that teams are preparing DIRECTLY to counter the attacks of Harrison and Lamar Woodley, the inside linebackers are going to step up more with big plays. Polamalu was hurt last season and we did just fine, he’s definitely is irreplaceable though and adds a whole new level of attack when he’s on the field.

Our O-line did GREAT today and Ben spread the ball all around, like he said at the end, “we’re not the Steelers of old”, which I’m content with, as long as we get results. We saw a lot of that tonight when all the cylinders are firing offensively and they’re not blowing as many assignments.

Screw that, I want the Steelers of Old. Running the ball and killer D is timeless. We all know Ben is clutch in the 4th quarter.

Sure, let’s maintain our identity, but if they’re developing a good passing attack, let’s fucking use it! Hopefully this will get Willie all fired up too and we can be more productive on the ground with him and Rashard. Our D will ALWAYS do fine, that’s our culprit and our tradition.

Valid point.

The Steelers tried that throwing shit with Touchdown Tommy and It was great for awhile then in the playoffs it got exposed. It’s cold and shitty late in the year and you need to run the ball and control the clock. That was pretty evident last night. As someone chimed in earlier…the outside linbackers are not getting the pressure like last year. It’s still very early in the season and they could get on a run and be dominate again on defence.

I wish they would play the #1 pick Ziggy a little bit. Try him on the pass rush to shake things up a bit on the line. If he gets a sack or two ya might see #56 and #92 turn it on. Tomlin loves to stir things up and this might be just the thing to get the pass rush going.

Defence needs Troy back fast. I gotta think if he was playing last night no way Gates gets all those receptions…Troy pretty much shuts him down when they play.

That was Clayton. If Mason was in that position it would’ve been a catch. That game was a staring contest and the Ravens blinked.

One thing that’s getting on my nerves with the Ravens are the personal foul penalties and then whining about them afterwards. Even Harhaugh got called for one and he’s supposed to be teaching discipline to these guys.

Yeah, you don’t see the bench getting penalized often.

I can see both sides on the Suggs flag. I mean it looked like he was going for the knee in real time, and Brady acted like a little bitch. Plus I’m not a fan of the new “you can touch the QB” rules. But the Pats have had some bullshit calls against them this year too, so fuck it.

It was a good game… Last nights game was good too.
