NFL Discussion Thread 2009

Yeah but look at how many titles George has won. A bunch. JJ takes a lot of heat but I truly believe he wants to win, ala Mark Cuban or George.
Do you want Wade back and do you think he will be back?

There was 6 minutes left when they called those TO. Not 1:55 when your up by 3 scores and looking to pad your stats, listen I agree that the defense should stop them. The thing is you know your gonna win. In basketball you dont dunk on the last play when your up by 20 with 5 seconds left.
To me it just stunk, dont throw salt at a wound be gentleman. Now on the otherhand if there was an intense rivalry I could and would agree with the decision. Say it was the Vikings and Packers.

Sure but look how the Yankees fell apart under “I needed total control” George. They did great when he let his Managers, manage. Now that most control has been given to his son the Yankees may just be back.

If Wade comes back it should be only to coach the defense. He never was or will be a head coach. He seems to have a clue about defence although more complicated blitzing is in order, and less zone. At least mix it up alittle.

After their post season loss to the Jets, Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding attempted to commit suicide in the locker room by hanging, but fortunately missed when trying to kick the chair out from under him. He is expected to make a full recovery.

When they called the time outs the needed three scores and all 2 point conversions to tie the game. Basically the game is already over at that point. Now if they would have gotten the ball back and scored quick i could see using the time outs but not down by 24.

To throw that last TD pass in the last minute was totally weak in my opinion or some may say classless. To hear Brad Childress saying they got no respect nor love from the media after the postgame conferences because every one was picking the Boys was weak as well.
I hope the Saints kill them and hurt that little whiny bitch of Brett.

If the Cowboys didn’t want to be scored on, then they should have played better.

That’s not a very solid analogy, because I’m sure if it were <45 seconds and 1st-3rd down they would’ve just kneeled it out. It was however, 4th down, with ~2 minutes left. In your amazing basketball analogy, up by 20 with 1 minute left, you still throw up a junk 3 or hit the open cutter in the lane when the shot clock winds down to <5, and that’s what that play was.

These are professionals not college kids. While I love my Cowboys and hate to see them lose, there should never be a let up. We want our teams to play for 60 min lose or win. Cowboys will have to do what they did to Philly this year for the ass kicking Philly gave them last year.

Finally someone that knows what sports and winning is all about, sorry about the cowboys, i happen to like their tenacious defense led by ware.

I think it’s silly to let up on a team, stomp them into the ground. The argument you hear is that it’s good sportsmanship. That is bullshit, just look at the caldwell crap. That was just sticking it to the fans. The fans are what make sports the way they are, Right? Then as a fan of football i was disgusted with caldwell and hope he get’s fired. Don’t give me the rest the players bs either, manning is the ultimate competiter, and to me he looked a sounded a little disgusted with the decision when asked about. I also don’t like all the wimpy and gutless, let’s beat them, but beat them daintilly with flowers crap.

To those of you who think it’s weak to keep the pedal to the metal, ponder this. If you’re the one winning, and you let up, that is a sign of weakness(it sure as hell feels like weakness to me when i’ve done it.) It astounds me how backwards most people think of strength. It sure as hell doesn’t mean giving up.

Picks for next week are saints and colts! Both playing at home and both looked pretty good especially the saints.

Thanks, sorry but tired of the society view of we are all winners. Little Timmy doesnt get a trophy, go home and get better. Cowboys need to go back see where they fucked up and fix it.

On to next week. Got to go with home teams also. But the Jets keep proving people wrong and you can never count out Favre. Should be good games. Sucks only three football games left until August. Pro-Bowl does not count as a football game, just glorified 7 on 7.

That’s awful dude! Ok, I admit…I did laugh a little.

With 6 minutes the boys had a highly unlikely chance to come back, but the Colts came back from 21 with around 4 minutes left against the Bucaneers, years ago. Also DJHT they are proffesionals that is why they should of stopped show some class take a knee, if the cowboys would have tried to score after that, then well it would be the cowboys who are classless.
Yeah like I said Ukaraine, they should of stopped them, no shit, but dont kick a man when he’s down. And redo4 Ive seen teams take the shot clock violation or just throw the ball up in the air to take the last seconds off.
Letting your foot of the metal is not weakness heracles, the Vikings had slit there throat already and they where flailing and wailing on the floor. The Cowboys sucked balls may I add.

fixed.

Haha.

Plus, maybe the fact that they got their ass handed to them will light a fire in their ass. Another plus, Farve broke a record that day. Hell, if I was on the Cowboys, I would not have wanted them to let up. I never want people to go easy after they are really beating me. It makes me feel worse.

I can’t believe you guys are arguing over this. It’s a professional sport with some of the biggest and most explosive players period, their should be no let up. This is not kicking a man when he’s down, this is playing football for 60 minutes and giving the fans what they want. Imo they should remove kneeling, that’s the one thing I don’t like about football. Run the ball do w/e, but play 60 fucking minutes.

GOD DAMMIT

I wish we could rewind to 2007 when Tom Brady was having fun teabagging the whole of the NFL and people wanted the Patriots’ heads for “running up the score”. No one defended the Pats then, but Jesus Tapdancing Christ if Favre’s nuts don’t get swallowed while doing the same thing right now I’ll be a monkey’s uncle.

It’s ok, it’s fun having people’s moods rest entirely upon how the Cowboys are doing or aren’t doing.

Lifelong 'Boys fan. No way would I have wanted to see Farve and the Vikings taking pity on my team. Play hard for 60 minutes or don’t play at all.

Oh man lol…

Go Jets… I want to see that fat bastard coach cry on national television.

I liked watching those games. It’s entertainment sometimes.

Haha, for the record, i don’t like the patriots, for the same reason i don’t like the chargers, they ruined my colts season too many times. However, 2007 was awesome, the patriots played like a video game, it was incredible. I actually enjoyed watching them stomp other teams and run up scores(even though i didn’t like them). As a fan i love to see records broken and shattered. I have a very competitive nature. I will attempt something many many times before i give up, even then i will come back and try again later.

Anyways, though i don’t like the patriots, there is one player and team i despise even more and that would be the little giants and there whiny leader eli manning. I’ll never forget when he was drafted, his daddy had to step in and tell the nfl that his little baby whiner wasn’t going to play for the chargers. Sooooo when that little crybaby got hella fuckin lucky on that one play and his receiver somehow miraculously held on for the catch i was really really unhappy.

If you want to talk about balllicking, this little whiner takes the cake. He gets praised for being such a great qb, and for what, that 1 lucky play. Nah, after that he is all of a sudden talked about as one of the great qb’s of the modern, post 2000 timeframe. He is average at best and overrated beyond anything i have ever seen.

Favre on the other hand is one of the greatest, if not the greatest qb of all time. I think he deserves respect and deservably so. He is 40 after all and argubly having his best season ever, and at 40 years young at that. Who doesn’t want to see more info and coverage on his passion for the game and the huge turnaround that the vikings have made, more than likely due to his play at quarterback.

Favre deserves every bit of coverage(or ball swallowing as you call it) and that’s the way the cookie crumbles. Heracles reporting on the Favre hater story /rant

Go Colts
