NFL Discussion Thread 2009

I really thought to much was being made of it at the time when the Cowboys cleaned house and let all of their “diva” players go (TO, Pacman Jones), but I think it has made a huge impact on this team. Playing as a team, and not having to worry about pleasing individual players, looks to have put the Cowboys back on track.

I think it has helped the team focus more on their rushing attack (which is dominant), has let some of their younger stars emerge (Miles Austin), and has taken a lot of pressure off of the coordinators and coaches.

Personally, I thought that attributing the demise of a team to a single player, or group of players, one of which has hall of fame stats (TO), was completely bogus, but it looks like the Cowboys have really accomplished addition by subtraction.

It is also interesting to note that none of the Cowboys team captains wear the C on their jerseys, as they want to focus on team unity instead of individuals.

League history right now shows you build championships through the draft. You can’t buy a championship with free agency. I think JJ has finally figured that out. This team is young, could be a competitor for the next 4-5 years. Finally, I have been fan for 20+ years and good to see good up standing young men who play for each other instead of their own glory. Go Cowboys.

Interesting yesterday, I never expected teh Saints to hang 45 on the Cards. And as for the Ravens D??? If you offense can’t keep the ball and produce some first downs your defense can only hold on so long against a team like the Colts (I think Flaco has a hip injury right?)

As for today I don’t really think the Jets have a chance against the Chargers (having seen them 2x this year they are playing way too good now).

In the Vikings-Cowboys game I’m really 50/50 on this one. It depends on which team really shows up (on both sides).

Anyone else think it was bull shit that only 2 seconds came off the clock (0:09 to 0:07) on a Manning drop back, hesitation, step to the right, and throw at the end of the second half? It was on 2nd down I believe which allows Colts to attempt another shot at the endzone opposed to taking only 3 prior to halftime.
Didn’t catch that, but it is interesting.

Either way, Manning dissected that defense in his usual robotic fashion. The Ravens would have had a great chance if they hadn’t stabbed themselves in the foot with all those penalties and fumbles. It might not have been a dominant performance, but Manning showed that even the best defenses aren’t good enough to stop him.

Tomorrow is the icing on the cake, I cannot wait to watch both games.
1. The Ravens offense was trash.
 2. The NFL changes the rules so that offense has a chance
 3. The Ravens offense was TRASH!

I can’t wait till someone puts Manning in his place and Defense can rule again.

We’ll see if the Jets beat the Chargers. Jets may have a legit chance to beat Indy if they get past the Chargers. I don’t really like Manning too especially when hes made look better than his polished self, like yesterday.

Yeah i agree, eli manning does suck, is an average qb at best, but peyton is on a whole other leval, so if your saying that about peyton manning, than when he’s already at the pinnacle and then he’s allegedly made to look even better, where does that put him. So i disagree.

As to rule changes, i think they should let them lead with their head, horse collar and maul the quarterback. They get paid millions to risk themselves physically every week, they know the risks and those rules should be gotten rid of. The tuck rule is bs as well, that needs to go away, it’s no fun when the qb gets the ball knocked out of his hands when he’s throwing and they call it an incomplete pass. meeeh.

Apparently i was wrong about the saints being rusty lol. But so far the teams i want to see go on have done so. Go Jets.

Jesus. Just imagine the Favre dick stroking that will take place on ESPN.

I’m going to guess that most “experts” on ESPN will stroke the dicks of the defensive linemen of the Vikings who made Romo look like a Homo.

Oh thank goodness the Cowgirls are out.
Vikings vs Saints is gonna be an interesting one. I’m kind of hoping Favre and Co. can get rid of the Saints.

What’s wrong with that? He is playing at an elite level at 40 years of age, no matter what sport you love, you have to appreciate the athleticism and the competitiveness in this individual.

He also tore is up today both on the field (134.4 QB Rating, 4 TDs) and off of the field (dramatic “Pants on the Ground” rendition plus a powerful Jared Allen ass slap).

Love him or hate him, Favre is dominant right now, and if AP ever gets back on track during these playoffs, the Vikes are going to be very hard to stop.

That was a fun game

Nate Kaeding needs the cat o’ nine tails.

Damn, that was a disappointing game, I can’t believe Kaeding missed on 3 attempts! Chargers, you have broken my heart yet again!

Haha yeaahhhh Jets! Huge win for them. I think Jets have a real legit chance to beat the Colts. They’re D is better then the Ravens, and I don’t think their Offense is gonna suck it up like the Ravens did.

Even though the Eagles lost, this has been a really exciting playoff year. Vikings vs Saints, should be nuts.

Most accurate kicker during the regular season is only 50% during the post-season!!

Way to go Norv Turner, if Rivers ever wants a SB he better pray for a new coach or a new team!

For whatever reason I’ve always hoped Norv would never win as a head coach…

The Jets better strap up and get their running shoes on… Indy is gonna be a tough win.

I understand how Kaeding kicked his own team between the legs but seriously, was Rivers not responsible for any part of today’s outcome or did everyone but him lose the game today?

The blind love of Favre gets old. I hope the Saint run through his old ass.
