NFL Discussion Thread 2009

How bout them Eagles!!! Oh wait a minute…just read the newspaper how bout them Cowboys!!!

Anywho, its gonna be the Cowboys and Saints at the NFC Champ series and Ravens at Chargers for the AFC Title. Chargers will kill the Jets, lets not forget they have a ROOKIE QB. It will catch up to him. Colts will lose due to lack of playing to little in the last month, though it will be close.
Any Viqueens fans around. I heard that there radio station up there is waging a media war against the Dallas stations?

Question for Philly fans: Don’t you feel he was one good wideout away from getting a ring? Not much of an excuse but still.

No i don’t think he was a good wideout away(not this year anyway, most of his career thats a different story). The weakness of the offensive line magnified his shortcomings as a quarterback, his main one in my opinion being his accuracy. he is a tremendous athlete don’t get me wrong, but he is so god damn hot and cold.all that being said i do not think getting rid of him is the way to go. what is needed is a defensive line overhaul, depth at the LB spot, a right tackle, and finally a few leaders to make philly the hard hitting team it once was. For once i really like our WR situation, our RB situation is good, and Celek will be a pro bowler next year.
In my opinion, the biggest mistake that Philly made was letting go of Brian Dawkins.

Awww cmon dude, you’re not even going to give the Jets a fighting chance? #1 def. And #1 rushing team in the league. They may not win but “kill”? They gotta a lotta MOJO rolling right now.

How is Woodson a fraud? He had his best season as a pro, not to mention being a unanimous All-Pro, and he single-handedly gave momentum to the Packers by causing the forced fumble on Fitz.

I don’t see anyone who was even close to deserving it besides Darelle Revis. Jared Allen fell off the last quarter of the season. D-Ware got on the the last half. Woodson and Revis played amazing all season long. Could’ve gone either way.

I’ll say no more.

I give the Jets a small chance, but they will be over-matched. Great defense and all but lets not forget there record, they do have mojo, but all the Chargers need to do is plant a small seed of doubt and the freefall begins.
Sorry dshroy that you are a Philly fan, hopefully your one of the classy ones, not thats there many. Time to trade Donovan McChoke and bring in Kolb.
They lost because Dallas was just plain better than them, this year. Also losing Jim Johnson made a big difference. Not Brian Dawkins.

I wouldnt call myself classy, but no i wont punch someone in the face for wearing a cowboys jersey. what hurts the most is that Dallas was indeed much better this year.

I agree with you. But Woodson isn’t a fraud.

BTW, the Revis interception against the Bengals in the wilcard game was unreal. fucking 360 is midair.

I’ll say no more.
The Jets have a very good chance to run the table. Dude these players are buying into the hype, and that D is straight fucking bananas when they are on.

If the Jets come to play, the Chargers could end up looking like New England last week if they aren’t careful.

This is gonna be a great weekend of football.

Yes. Every match up is great.

I would hate to see any of these teams lose, but here are my picks:

Cardinals over the Saints
Vikings over the Cowboys
Chargers over the Jets (Love both of these teams and cannot wait to see this game)
Ravens over the Colts

The Chargers will not look anything like the Pats last week. The offense is 100% healthy and ready to go. If anything it will be a tight game.

Determining factor to the Jets v SD game is Sanchez. Will he light it up for his hometown or will he choke being in front of his hometown?

One small advantage for the Jets I saw last night is the OC of SD is Cam Cameron and he was in Balt. when Rex was. Rex’s def. went up against that offense every day. Granted Blat didn’t have Rivers, LT, Gates or Sproles. I think the Jets will hang in there if they can get through the 1st qtr without having to play catch up.

LOL, I hope not. You can only play with the dog outside for so long before you start to get cold. I’d rather be inside watching a good game.

I will take:
Saints over Cardinals. This game might hit 100 points
Cowboys over Vikings. What if Ware knocks out Favre?
Chargers over the Jets. If Chargers score early can Sanchez keep up?
Ravens over Colts. (Love both of these teams and cannot wait to see this game and I had predicted Ravens in SB so I have to go with Ravens)

Like I said in another thread. The wife is gone, just have my boys this weekend. Football, video games and Chicken Wings. Good times.

The Ravens will also be getting Terrell Suggs back into their lineup which should provide a tremendous boost to a dominant defense.

I never heard a crowd boo a team as loud as the Pats fans did yesterday…Loved it!
The only issue I have with that attitude is those fans payed a lot of fucking money to go to those games. So much so, Craft has priced out most true fans for “pink hats” that can actually afford to go to a game. So when they win the crowd is silent and the games suck, and most times when they lose everyone just leaves in the 3rd.

That stadium blows for seeing games now. There are like 10,000 actual fans and the other 40,000 are there for the other team or to get drunk and say they were there.

I know it is “cool” for everyone to hate the teams that win consistently, but there is no reason for someone to “love” that ANY team played so poorly that the people that dropped close to $300 during these economic times to go enjoy a game are so frustrated that they boo the entire game.
Yes, there is a reason…I don’t like some of the players on that team and I don’t like the coach. That’s why I loved it. You may feel thats a d-bag attitude but I can’t help myself. If you were a Steeler fan like myself you would understand lol.

What you say about the fans I couldn’t agree more with you. I feel bad for the fans for all the reasons you listed. I’ve been to a bunch of games over the years myself. I can never get good seats but when I go to a game there is all these “corporate” seats empty, WTF?
I guess I’m just insulted as someone who enjoys the game, that an organization actually thinks it is acceptable to play like they did on Sunday, in the fucking playoffs, at home.

It was a slap in the face to the fans of the team, and to fans around the league. They looked like shit, played like shit and acted like shitty little teenagers who were being told no. There was no fire, no desire, no want to even play. I would put money on the fact the towel boy even did a shitty job yesterday. The entire organization STARTING with the douchebag coach on, fucking sucked yesterday, and every fan in the stands should get a refund for the $6.50 they paid for a hot chocolate based on how shitty that “team” played yesterday. (Not to take away from the Ravens, who played great fucking smash mouth football.)
Are you serious? I guarantee you cannot and would not find one individual in the Patriot organization, one that has built an image of winning both in the regular and post-season, that is satisfied or views the results of Sunday’s game as “acceptable”. And “no want/desire to even play” and you even said so that the Raven’s played smash mouth right off the bat. Rice hit a home run on the first play of the game followed by a turnover from Brady’s blindside. The Ravens were on the fortunate side early and continued to roll and indeed played smash mouth. But to say no one from New England cared or gave a shit is ridiculous. Unlike the Packers in their own early struggle, the Patriots never caught a break and got that momentum swing (Woodson stripping Fitz). No one on any team in the league from owner to punter is OK with losing especially in the fashion that the Patriots lost Sunday.

Dude,

a) I was exaggerating to a degree
b) Did you even watch the game? I mean if you can tell me with a straight face that the Pats had the same fire last Sunday as in years past, you sir are lying to yourself.
c) You obviously didn’t hear Bob Craft’s interview yesterday…
d) You sound like the pink hat, blind worshipers that live in Boston. Did you move recently?

They looked like shit, played like shit, and had zero fire, zero drive, and zero heart. The ravens played like Champs, and the Pats looked like Chumps. But don’t worry they will hang another stupid fucking banner about being a 3 seed, just like the 16-0 curse banner.

I thought he played last week? He had the sack and fumble on Brady.
