NFL Discussion Thread 2009

Cowboys beat the Eagles
Patriots beat the Ravens
Cardinals beat the Packers
Jets beat the Bengals

I think the last two will be the closest and won’t be surprised if I’m wrong.

Edit: Packers over Cardinals

Eagles beat the Cowboys
Patriots beat the Ravens
Packers beat the Cardinals - Boldin is out I think?
Jets beat the Bengals

I’m no Cowboy fan, I hate them just as much as the next guy, but why do you guys think they will lose to the Eagles when they already beat them twice and just dominated them at home. If i were to bet i would put my money on Dallas.
Personally I feel that the Eagles have much better depth, and much more playoff experience.

The turning point, however, is the fact that it is near impossible to beat a good team 3 times in the same year. You have already shown your hand twice, and coming up with enough changes and adaptations to make the third time different is a very hard task.

I do think this will be the best game of the first weekend, as them teams have a very heated/hateful rivalry.
I don’t buy the fact you can’t beat a team 3 times in a year. Why not, they already dominated them before. Steelers beat the Ravens 3 times last year and nobody was surprised the third time they did it.

Cowboys put another good spanking on the Eagles again. I thought this time would be a little closer, but the Eagles just got behind too fast.

So the Jets won and will possibly playing the Chargers. I’d rather the Pats win so the Chargers can play them and beat them.

The Jets might actually win this whole thing, that D is fucking bananas

As long as Dirty Sanchez plays well enough, it could be interesting.

EDIT:

I am aware I said the exact opposite in like week 5.

There is an ass whooping starting in Foxboro

ha ha, I must have gotten like 16 texts messages so far crying. Oh man.

I don’t care if they’re winning by 100, Harbaugh needed to challenge that reception.

Where all the “Eagles will beat the Cowboys” people at?

And you my friend, were right. The Cowboys dusted the Eagles, and looked like a very physical, very strong team.

New England looked awful, Moss gave up after the first 5 minutes, and Brady did not look like his old self.

Packers or Cardinals?

Depends which Card team shows up. Gotta pick em though, I got that feeling.

Brady will never be the same again. He and the dynasty are done. Back to being underdogs, thank fucking god.

Maybe Boston “fans” will shut the fuck up now, because the Sox will struggle to win 90 this year too.

Brady will come back…he won’t be in 07 form because he won’t have recievers like he did then. I think a big problem that people aren’t talkign about is the lack of a 3rd reciever…In 07 he had Moss(who wanted to play) Welker, and Stalworth…He needs more receivers. The D-line is horrible, and besides Banta-Cain, and Mayo they don’t have any linebackers.

That team has holes everywhere to fill. They needed to keep a couple cornerbacks the cheap bastards.

EDIT: Offensive line improvements should be on the top of the list, D line #2.

Wow this game is like a carbon copy of the earlier one.

4 letters- J-E-T-S… jets jets jet.

Off to the SD Superchargers.

Def. & Running game wins championships.

Pats get wasted. How could I have been so wrong…I had the Pats in the Superbowl, thinking experience and Brady would be enough. I think Brady becoming a husband and father has something to do with it. Hope he comes back strong next year. Most talented QB in NFL history.

W/e though, the superbowl is more enjoyable when you have two teams you don’t really support

Except GB can rally and come back and at least make a game of it.

Wow, helluva game between AZ and GB.

AZ shouldn’t have won. They let green bay back into the game and almost lost to them… embarrassing. But that’s what AZ has done since inception. They’ve made a career snatching defeat from the jaws of victory but they live to see another day in this case…

Absolutely NO defense in this game.

No, and no there is no clarification needed, it isn’t a debate.

Also, you were clearly smoking something as is thinking Pats would sniff the super bowl at this point(if you made that pick day 1 of the season and stuck with it that’s slightly different but their D was going to be an issue all season long that never changed).

Well I picked them for the Superbowl because Arizona made it to the Superbowl last year which proved team records don’t mean much. No doubt if the playoffs were played in series I wouldnt have picked the Pats but b/ its 1 game elimination you can never really count out a team like NE.

Arizona just beat GB in a massive thriller. I hope they don’t become the favorites against NO.

Neil Rackers has to be pretty happy right now.

So you picked them because team records don’t mean that much? Arizona’s offense last year was much better than the Pats this year, especially without Welker.

At least the Packers vs. Cardinals game turned out to be competitive in the 2nd half.

I will be at the Chargers vs. Jets matchup next Sunday, i’m pretty stoked. I keep hearing about how the Chargers need to be worried because of the Jets defense and Revis. Revis may be able to slow down Vincent Jackson, but the Chargers have won numerous games this season where Jackson only caught a few passes. If i were them i’d be more worried about Gates, he is a matchup nightmare. I’m confident the Chargers are the better team and will win this game.
