In all seriousness, congrats. It was a hard fought battle, and you won. So congrats on your win.
I didn’t win anything. I just verged on suicide for the first quarter, frenzy in the second and then giddy anticipation the entire second half. Congratulate the 49ers, they’re the ones who won. I just watch from my couch or my seats at the 'Stick, where a record EIGHT NFC Championship Games have been hosted. Don’t worry though Pat. The Niners didn’t win the first time they hosted one either. Next year, buddy, next year.

And thanks for asking about my corn hole. It feels great You know what hurts though? My fucking cock. It’s all raw and chafed now and I feel dehydrated.
I think maybe you put to much stock in pro athletes as it pertains to your own well being. It’s just a game. A game you have absolutely no say so in the out come.
I mean, I’d rather the Falcons won, but I am not even close to suicide. I wouldn’t even utter those words.

Kaepernick was not a factor in this game by the way.
This is an absolutely laughable statement.

He engineered all of th eTD drives.
His decision making in the passing game and on the read option was impeccable.
The threat of him running kept the Atl D on their heels and left wide open lanes for James and Gore.
And, I would argue, most importantly he didn’t make any bonehead mistakes like Matt Ryan did.

Again, to say Kap was not a factor is just not true.
He didn’t have a ‘big game’ is what I meant. Smith could have done what he did. He only had one run and he managed the game well. He wasn’t shooting lightning bolts out of his ass and fire balls from his eyes like the GB game.
And true, minus one turn over it would be the Falcons going to the SB. One less mistake is what it hinged on.
I would have like to seen a hail mary at the end, with Julio, White and Gonzales in the end zone, I think we would have had a good chance.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Aikman for sure. But Favre? Come on.
Favre holds or is in the top 3-5 of every major statistical category. Where’s Aikman at?

When a QB sets a new record who’s record does he normally break?
Yeah, but we’re talking big game QBs. Favre has too many screwups in the playoffs to be considered a great in that regard.
There’s a lot of people that could be considered in the ‘best ever’ category. Both Brady and Montana are certainly in that conversation. They are really close, but I think Brady over all edges him out because he has done it with less especially the last 4 years. One more ring and i think it’s a lock for Brady.

Longevity doesn’t negate futility in the playoffs. A career passer rating of 86.0 and 86.3 in the playoffs isn’t enough to even enter this conversation, especially when considering the fact that he’s the all-time leader in boneheaded interceptions with the season on the line. Peyton Manning doesn’t enter the conversation for the same reason. 95.7 in the regular season but only 88.4 in the postseason. Clearly, Peyton Manning’s performance drops off quite a bit in the biggest games.

Last time I checked the ultimate goal in sports was to win, not to accumulate stats. When it comes to the greatest players at any position in any sport they all have great statistics to one extent or another. What separates them is how they played in the really big games, because what they play for is victory in the big games. Favre simply doesn’t compare well to a lot of other great QBs in this respect.

Brady did it with less? Montana played with a grand total of one Hall of Famer on offense with him, Jerry Rice. And Rice only played on the last two Super Bowl winners. The first two Montana had zero running game (Craig was only a rookie in 1984) and not much on the outside. Freddie Solomon and an aging Russ Francis were about all he had. Dwight Clark really wasn’t that great, The Catch not withstanding.

Bradshaw is a bit of a unique case in that he was the only multiple-Super Bowl winner at QB who wasn’t the driving force behind his team. The defense was by far the straw that stirred that drink.

I’d take Bradshaw in a Super Bowl over Favre in a second. Bradshaw had an average QB rating of 112 in the Super Bowl with a 4-0 record.

Yep. And you know what? As poor as Bradshaw’s stats were in the regular season they were WAY better overall in the postseason, even if his postseason rating was still lower than Favre’s. The point is that Bradshaw tended to step his game up in the biggest moments and Favre did not.

Re: Joe Montana. One of the funniest comments I’ve ever heard come out of football players mouth was when he was heckling Joe about his skinny legs during some training camp, can’t remember what year or player. Anyway the guy yells at Joe, " the last time I seen legs that skinny they were hanging out of a nest lol". I fucking love that line.

You know I’m a Steeler fan DB but Joe is #1 on my book. No one has come along and changed my mind. That cocksucker gutted me in the playoffs when he played for K.C. That and a blocked fucking punt.

I’m curious DB, did you hate his guts after he left? It was Young’s time I guess not so much about cash.

Me I’m a child when it comes to ex Steelers, I want nothing but failure from most of them after they leave. The worst was Rod that traitorous bastard Woodson, no one player even comes close.

I think Brady said it best on Sunday, a lot of things have to go your way to win the Super Bowl. Favre made some mistakes, but a few things different here or there and he’d have multiple rings too. Same with Montana, couple things different and he’s got 2 rings instead of 4.

I’m just saying, he never gets any respect and he should.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperbole
Yeah, that’s not good hyperbole. I’ve known too many people to have said shit like that only to find out they weren’t joking.

Also his opponents scored an average of 15 pts in Montana’s 4 Super Bowl wins. I donno maybe his defense was a big part of those 4 rings?

Favre:

10,169 attempts, 6,300 completions, 62%, 71,838 yards
508 TD’s, 336 INT’s (roughly 1.5 TDs per interception), 45 game winning drives
1 Super Bowl, 186 career wins, over 19 years

Montana:
5,391 attempts, 3,409 completions, 63.2%, 40,551 yards
273, TD’s, 139 INT’s (roughly 2 TDs per interception), 33 Game winning drives
4 Super bowls, 117 career wins, over 15 years

They look pretty comparable to me with the exception of Super Bowl wins.

You guys all realize that the Holmgren and on a larger scale Bill Walsh era is now over, right?

The Bill Parcells tree still exists and is relevant, but the only guys out of the Walsh tree still making noise is Shanahan thanks in big part to his son and RGIII and Mike McCarthy with GB.

We’re in the Harbaugh era now boys.

Two coaches on opposing coasts and conferences that are straight running shit. Schemes on both sides of the ball, player decisions, drafts, and how the on the field business is run is going to be either in support of a Harbaugh team, or in how to beat a Harbaugh team.

It’s exciting shit. Their teams are physical, in your face, fast, unpredictable, athletic, and for lack of a better term, FRESH.

I like the direction the NFL is headed, it’s been a fun season all around.

No, when Montana left was like losing a relative. I was at the Monday Night game in 1992 when he played the second half against the Lions and shredded them. It was his first appearance at the 'Stick since he got knocked out of the 1990 Championship Game (by a hit that wouldn’t even be legal in the NFL that Brady has played in, by the way). It was the last game of the year and the Niners were killing the Lions and already had homefield locked up for the playoffs. Young would go on to be the MVP that year, but it was an emotional moment because he looked just like the old Joe Cool even after a two year layoff and everyone knew he would never play for the Niners again. I was only about 12 or 13 then but even I knew the gravity of the situation.

But I didn’t hate him for leaving. I loved Young too, just more in a sympathetic way than anything though. He would get fucking slammed by the media and the fans after every single bad game or playoff loss. “Joe would have won the game”, “Joe wouldn’t have lost to the Cowboys” blah, blah, blah. It was clear that Young was the Niners’ QB of the future at that point and nothing was going to change that, so I was onboard with him. But nothing was ever going to make me stop loving Joe Montana. He was THE MAN in the Bay Area and still is. He’s the greatest, most popular athlete to play in SF and it isn’t even close. Willie Mays is right up there, but he never won a championship in SF and Joe won 4. He’s the man.

Montana had a passer rating of 127 in 4 Super Bowls and never threw an interception in any of them. You’re right, a lot of things would have to go right to win a Super Bowl. But when you played against Montana EVERYTHING had to go right to win one against his teams.

Montana missed the entire 91 and 92 seasons and most of the 87 season due to injury and a players’ strike. So he put those numbers up in 12 seasons, not 15. And he did so in a much more run-oriented league. The rules were HEAVILY slanted toward QBs for most of Favre’s career. Not so with Montana.

And 4 Super Bowls as opposed to one is a HUGE exception, especially when considering that Favre was directly responsible for missing out on a chance to play in one TWICE due to his own ineptitude.
