Agreed. This refs were fishy the whole game. First off that Kick off return by the Ravens should have been called back for a tackle…I mean holding on them. Then obviously that was a holding penalty on the Ravens in the end zone. And the time kill play should again have been called a holding penalty again on the ravens.
You neglected to mention when SF CB blatantly interfered with Torrey Smith on an endzone pass in the 1st quarter. (ie. it goes both ways)
And on the time kill play – I assume you mean BAL taking that late safety – BAL blockers were absolutely holding AND doing it very purposefully, given the penalty for offensive holding in the endzone.

Not sure i remember that one (not doubting you but just cant think of it right now) but yeah I’m not saying there werent blown calls on both sides. But The Kick Return, the 2 point conversion, and the last possible td were big game changing plays.
Yeah I just realized calling holding on the safety wouldn’t have done shit. There should be a penalty for that where the clock is stopped at the point of the penalty. There was about 6 seconds between the hold and the punter running out of bounds.

You sound like a bitch. Please prove the Ravens were holding on the kick return.
And the 49ers last play was a good no-call. The refs didn’t want a penalty to determine the outcome of the game, especially because it looked like there was some offensive holding on the 9ers’ player. Both guys got into a scramble, which constituted reasonable doubt and a legitimate reason to NOT throw a flag.
there was a play were I believe boldin was held on third down and the ravens had to punt… If the refs give the Ravens the call, THE RAVENS WOULD HAVE GONE DOWN THE FIELD AND SCORED A TD AND GAME OVER!lol probably not., Its only natural to complain and I don’t blame niner fans for doing so, but they know deep inside that they were outclassed. now I can’t prove this, and no one else can, but its extremely likely that if not for the blackout, this game isn’t even close. Besides, you were 1st and goal inside the 5 yard line so STFU the ravens made a stand and your couldn’t deliver and now youre looking for help? please

I agree with you. I thought the game was pretty well called. I like the no call at the end of the game. The ball was well overthrown anyways and I highly doubt he would have caught it even if he was wide open. The Niners had four plays from the five to score a touchdown. My question is, why didn’t they try to run Kaepernick in? It looked like they were going to do a QB designed run on the play when Jim Har called the time out.
I enjoyed the game though. I just think the Ravens were the team of destiny this year/postseason. Also, Flacco is a damn good QB.
Also, that safety to end the game was funny. My brother ending up losing the pot from the betting squares game because of that safety, haha.
Let us not forget how awesome Randy Moss looks now too. Talk shit about being greatest ever, lose second super bowl in two appearances. Somewhere, below his sadness that the team he has ultimate pride in lost, he is smiling that Moss looks like an even bigger idiot.
I thought the game was called well, they let them play. All season bad calls and ticky tack Pass interference calls, I was glad to see Bogart calling this game.
I just read they caught the guy who sabotaged the Super Dome electrical system. Some lunatic took a chainsaw to one of the main cables leading to a major transformer just outside the parking lot. Sounds like he was both desperate for attention and wanted to change the momentum of the game. I pulled his picture off Reuters:
San Frans’ secondary, pass defense strategy, and special teams execution lost that game.
Not the officials.
Flacco played a good game. Boldin played out of his mind, Jones played very smart and super athletic for the position, and Tory Smith did his job and proved he’s top tier.
I know that I mentioned in my original thoughts about this game that special teams was going to be a big factor, and it definitely was. I had no idea that it was going to swing into B-mores favor as heavily as it did though. The fake, the 109 yd kick return, the safety as time wound down… Three big major events in that game.
Two years in a row where SF was snakebit by special teams play, wonder if there is going to be a major overhaul in that aspect of their coaching and personnel as they move toward next season.
Still mad about my team beating your team in Atlanta?
But hey, everything you can put on this forum would be true cuz my team lost.
Yep. It was revenge for me and Alex Smith.
Believe it or not, I have kept the faith for the 49er’s throughout the last 5 years. The dicking of Alex Smith had me write them off. From that point on I wanted them to lose. Sure Kaepernick may be more talented, but he’s not better. He’s not better than a guy who spent his years there hated, put in a failing system, then over come all of it, only to be totally dicked because he got a concussion. After that, I was in ‘fuck’em’ mode. You don’t treat people like that.
So fuck’em. They got Flacco’d, a real QB who’s been through the trenches.
Kaepernick wasn’t nervous. He should have been, little arrogant ass.
So you want Kaepernick to be nervous like Matt Ryan in your past playoff games?
I know you’re mad at the coach, but it’s time to let it go. Alex Smith will soon be with another team trying to get them to the playoffs. I say, good luck. He deserves it.
I had the numbers in the pool for the big pot until they pulled that fucking safety out of their ass. I saw it coming too when they didn’t make any run yards on 1st through 3d down–I was just hoping the fact that a safety would put the game within three would tip the scales in favor of a punt but nope, it didn’t.
First off, the Ravens Defensive End jumped the snap, he was clearly offsides by a mile, but the ref missed it.
Second, the receiver was being held pretty aggressively when Capernick threw the ball up in the corner of the end zone. Sure I am ok with some physicalness with pass patterns, but when the ball is actually in the air, the rule is is that you keep hands off. The Ravens DB was damn near ass-raping the receiver.
I will give props to the 49ers for finding a way back into the game, personally I think the team would have done better if Capernick would have used his legs more. The Ravens did not account much for his ability to scramble, and this is where Frisco could have done more damage.
The Ravens kick off return for a TD also fucked things up, it’s too easy a score with little effort.
Had one or two things happened differently, this game would have a different champion.
Congrats to Baltimore though, well played game, and Ray Lewis can now commit crimes without his baller status.
One thing that I’ve never understood in sports (mostly football and basketball I guess) is the “let them play” mentality when it comes to penalties at the end of games.
A foul is a foul. Why would you want to “let them play” and get away with blatant cheating just because its the end of the game (more than likely a crucial situation)???

I thought taking the safety was beyond obvious and didnt understand why Phil Simms said “no, I wouldn’t do it” multiple times.
Beyond obvious for two reasons: gaining 15yds of field position and even more importantly, the ensuing free kick would mean 0% chance of a blocked FG for TD.
For the record I am not blaming the loss on the refs.
I put a ton of the blame on Kap. He should have walked in the game winning TD on that second down roll out. Kap had Walker in the flat and could have walked in behind him but wanted to throw the ball.

Never made sense to me.
Cause some of us grew up watching WR having to actually work to catch a ball and not this “you cant touch me at all BS”.
Both of these teams are very physical on Defense and to me this game was called fair on both sides. It was not like there was 5 PI’s called on 9rs and none on the Ravens.

Would prefer the players determine the outcome of the game instead of the refs.
With respect to basketball, if every foul were called to 100% reflect the rule book, every one would be fouled out by the 3rd quarter the games would have no flow and would be horrible to watch.

That kid’s future is as bright as anyone’s in the entire league but yeah, ultimately there’s no substitute for experience (note how Flacco also had to “pay his dues” over the years)
And not to pile on but as one of FB friends pointed out, SEA was actually the NFC’s best team this year.
