^ yes the Chargers didnt have much of a choice I guess, they didnt have to take Leaf. I remember that draft and all the experts had it neck and neck with Peyton.

What other QB’s were in that draft class?
Actually the only other QB taken in that draft that actually had some success was Matt Hasselbeck who was taken at the end of the 6th round by the Packers. I guess you could say everybody missed that one. Other than that the other QBs in the draft were weak.
Charlie Batch
Brian Griese

Yea that had to be the worst QB draft of all time.
Haha, yeah. The funny thing is one of the best QBs of all time came out of the draft.

Now what about the best QB draft class. I think you can argue that the draft in 2004 with three QBs taken in the first 11 picks has three possible hall of fame QBs in the making.
True, the more you get into football I mean really get into football you realize that Franchise QB’s are so fucking rare.
Yes, totally. I always think the Chargers had two of them at once. Most teams would die to have just one.
Yes sir, and drives me nuts when you have a QB that is maybe not a franchise, however is at that level just below. He may get over paid and he may have not won the SB but if you know football you just really have no choice. Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Tony Romo, Hasselback etc, then all you hear is people who are passive football fans yelling to replace them. Like it is that fucking easy to even replace this level of QB.
(Yes I put Romo on this list as a Cowboys fan I release he may not be a Franchise QB, he may only be a Danny White, time will tell)

Interesting topic I was listening to Gil Brandt this morning and he was saying how he apologized to Danny White for not upgrading the offensive line. They let the OL get to old without replacing it with youth, he actually said the same thing happened with current OL. That they were probably one year to late doing what they did this year.

Class of 83’: John Elway, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly.

I’m not saying this makes them better, but the class of 2004 already has three Super Bowl Rings between them and they are about halfway through their careers.

The regular season is almost here. Who do you guys think is going to win the divisions and wildcard spots?

AFC

 1. Steelers
 2. Jets
 3. Chargers
 4. Texans
 5. Patriots
 6. Colts

NFC

 1. Packers
 2. Falcons
 3. Cowboys
 4. Rams
 5. Eagles
 6. Bucs

It’s so hard to pick. I bet I only get about half of the teams right.

Sure, why not? There is always one team every year that nobody expects to make it. Who thought the Chiefs were going to win the division last year other than Chiefs fans?

Rams got Sammy Bradford.

Oh its definitely a possibility. This year will have some teams that will truly surprise people(like there never really is a year). For example, I think Washington will have a way better record than people think. By no means do I think they will win the division or get a wildcard but I believe they may end with a record over .500 and beating out Dallas for 3rd in the East. But we will see.

How do Kenny Brit and Aqib Talib not get suspensions of any kind? I just lost all respect for Roger Goodell, he totally caved to public pressure instead of standing tall.

First I’m happy for Kenny Brit, I have him in FF.

I believe but can’t prove this was all settled in the negotiations. He can say what he wants but it was probably a bargaining chip in the negotiations not to suspend these guys.

Besides, these two jokers will fuck up again.

Either way, from a non fantasy perspective, he just publicly showed that he isn’t at all the confident, strong fisted commish that he tried to come off as. Fail.

From my understanding, because there wasen’t any contract at the time of these brain fart moments he couln’t punish them, I could be wrong though.

Jesus, it sounds like I’m defending that fool.

Not true. Pryor wasn’t under contract, or even a member of the NFL when he committed his infractions, and he’ll be suspended anyways.

I know its preseason and most of you are reluctant to believe the hype of Detroit but they looked fantastic against New England. Stafford was again accurate, composed and productive in what might have been the most impressive performance (preseason or otherwise) in his career. He completed 12 of 14 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns, and one of his “misses” was an end zone pass to receiver Nate Burleson that could have been caught. He now has a 154.0 passer rating this preseason, having completed 24 of 31 passes for 356 yards and five touchdowns. He also absorbed his first hits of the preseason Saturday night and emerged no worse than before. The defensive looked great with 2 sacks on Brady, forced a fumble, and cut down on his pass rating. If they can keep a healthy D-line and QB, I see them taking 2nd in the North Division.

I don’t know a whole lot about the Pryor deal but it does seem unfair now that you mention it.

I still believe Godell’s going to bring the hammer down this year once this stuff from the past gets sweeped away.

That’s why I drafted Stafford in the T-Nation Fantasy League, kids a boss.

Lions could be sick nasty this year, especially if Best can hold up.

This has to be Staffords year, will really show that SITTING and watching as a QB is and can be valuable in regards to development. There O should hang pretty much with most of the NFC North, problem is going to be the D. Can that back end hold up? Front 7 will be solid.

stafford’s one big sack away from riding pine again… he’s got loads of talent just can’t seem to stay healthy…

To be fair they would not do surgery for his first two years, he had the same injury as Bradford in college. Now he may end up with another injury, but it will not be the shoulder for sure.
