Sobering stat of the day (aside from the Dow) RT @JasonRomano: 9 NFL players have blown out their Achilles tendons since start of camp.
Wow this is kind of outstanding stat.

That’s unreal, what a crappy way to begin the season. Are they attributing it to the lack of camp time?
On a side note it keeps looking better for the Patriots ![]()

Apparently it’s linked to the use of growth hormone and steroids. Muscles continue to grow but your tendons stay the same, and can no longer support the force generated by the additional muscle.
Should be interesting to see who plays, and how much, when games get started this Thursday!

This is interesting.
And with the hype about the new CBA including HGH-testing, should be interesting to see what comes from that

I’m betting starting QBs will play a series or two. Well ones without anything to prove.
Looks like Haney isn’t going to work out. Pats pick up ellis from the Jets.
U mad Matty? or was he done?
Has anyone read anywhere the specifics of punishment for HGH use?
This could get out of control fast if guys start to get caught on a regular basis. I have no idea how heavy it’s use is in pro football, anyone hazzard a guess?
I can’t prove but I believe the testing system is corrupt to a degree anyway. I have a sneaky feeling the teams get a winkwinknudgenudge* call when the wizz-o-nater police are coming to call.
It’s the dumb one’s who get pinched.
^ I honestly doubt it BJB, I do occupational medicine for the last 3 years which of course includes management of the drug screening policy etc for a fortune 500 company.
I have also heard on serius X players in the NFL and they said this is not a joke, these guys are serious. The NFL probably by CBA have to have a 3rd party collection and testing company. Due to the legalities of the drug screening that third party will take it very serious.
If a guy tested positive the NFL cant choose well this guy we will release but this guy we will not, or your example of early notification. No way they could keep that secret, all you need is one player to blow the whistle on this illegal act.

Is the way to test for HGH only through a blood sample still DJ?

Yes sir at this time, I am sure they could make a urine test put that could take time and a lot of excess money with decrease in accuracy.
There are a lot of professions that require blood work today, hell we draw it all the time on pipe fitters, welders and carpenters going to areas of the industry where they can be exposed to toxic substances.
Getting a tube of blood from these guys is not a big deal, hell half of them get IV’s during half time of games. Dont believe the media hype.
Normal policy is the same if they fail HGH just like if they fail any of the banned substances.

Yess, I’ve never been more pumped for the start of the NFL season as I am this year. It is probably because I spent all of last season in Afghanistan. lol Fortunately I got to watch the Super Bowl, unfortunately the Steelers lost. Man, can’t wait for Thursday.
Oh yea, Madden 12 demo is out, it is pretty good. Actual game comes out August 30th. ![]()
Would you let Ochocinco stay in your house for 2-3 weeks. Personally I would, could be entertaining, certainly be interesting. Any longer than a month and you’d probably shoot yourself or him.

I think you’d want to back hand him after about 24 hours, not a month.

Redskins QB Rex Grossman told CSNWashington.com, “When it’s all said and done, I really feel like this team’s gonna win the [NFC] East.”
Hahahahahaahahahahahahaahahahahaahha WTF
