I agree 100% with this Jason Whitlock article about the Patriots recent moves:
Highlightts of the article:
This article didn’t mention another questionable move by the Patriots this offseason: drafting Ryan Mallett.
My personal opinion is that personal character means more in the NFL than it does in other sport in that the whole team needs to be focused and unified in order to win consistently. Some coaches can reach people that others can’t, and sometimes problems can be skirted for a certain amount of time, but there is a reason that these kinds of players rarely lead their teams to Super Bowl victories. Of course, there is also a reason I’m not an NFL coach, so take my opinion for what it’s worth.
At least Ochocinco is entertaining, I’ll give him that.
lol at a 14&2 division champ returning 20 fucking starters being desperate. That sports writer is a moron and so is anyone riding his nuts. These trades may not work, but give me a fucking break.
Cullen to Eagles - fuck them. Seriously, fuck the Eagles. I hope they win 2 games this season and pull a Washington Redskins with all this bullshit Free Agent action.
Ruud to the Titans - Good fit.
Sorry Matty, I think that Plax in New York makes exactly zero sense, compared to any of the other two suitors he was thinking about. One year deal? Lol, okay, have fun not even getting significant production until the mid weeks. I flat-out don’t like the movie at ALL.
Mario Barber to Chicago - Good, we’ll eat his ass alive twice a year now instead of once.
I’ve always hated the Eagles (4th and 26, fuck) but as far as I’m concerned they are now the Miami Heat of the NFL. Chumps.

CountingBeans, you need to sack up and join the T-Nation Fantasy Football League. PM me your email address.

The fit, to me, doesn’t make sense for several reasons. Why only sign for 1 year and $3 million when there were other offers far better on the table? Or with an offense you’re more familiar with? We don’t even know what he has in the tanks right now… I don’t see Plax going over 700-800 yards and 6-8 TDs, if I had to take a stab at some numbers.
Okay, first things first, the Jets got him for cheap. Cool, I don’t see how this benefits Plax other than the possibility of a deep playoff run (Patriots/Steelers oops.)

Teams took the multi-year deals off the table. He has to prove himself, plain and simple. That’s what one year contracts are for.

the jets are trying to pick up heap. Plax is q good distraction from the 2 killer tight ends they could have. Still baffled they didn’t try and bring Holmes back.

So many people have added me on G+ that I don’t recognize, that’s why I haven’t accepted any of 'em.
Just PM me your email when your back on a computer.
Im kind of ambivalent towards the move, it was clear they werent resigning edwards, so he was the alternative for a somewhat cheaper non long term solution. From a merely physical standpoint it makes plenty of sense, if it does work out Santonio the game breaker type receiver alongside the physical tall presence like Plax is what you want in starting receivers.
The move can really help Sanchize as it did Eli, the pessimist in me says he wont be the same player though

I don’t know. Not a PHI fan at all, but part of me just has to applaud all this deal-making done by PHI. And they might still have one big splash left, if the experts are right about them still moving CB - Samuel.
Now if they were overpaying guys AFTER a career year and dealing 1st and 2nd rounders to buy-high on older veterans, now that’s the WAS way…

Hey MattyXL,
Watching the Jets the last 2 playoff games, the one piece on D that you’re missing is a pass rusher, specifically an edge rusher. Vernon Gholston was supposed to be that player drafted in 08, but he pretty much sucks. He’s the poster child for the saying “Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane”. Is there anyone on your team to fill that role?
100% bro, the blitz packages simply stopped working last year and we were getting hurt with big plays because of it. Gholston, was the epitome of a bust and was cut. We will have Calvin Pace for the whole year and our number 1 pick will hopefully help. Other than that, we havent improved at all, and from the looks of it, we may have taken a step back, veteran Shaun Ellis still hasnt been resigned as well…Im a bit worried.
Packers ended up signing James Jones on a 3yr deal. Im glad to see that. If for some reason Randall Cobb(WR they drafted this year) doesnt work out, they have a Jones to feel confident with. At the same time, I dont understand why ARod was so adamant on grabbing Jones again.

With Finley back and healthy, the Packers are going to be ridiculous. RB is the only sub par position and although Grant and Starks might not be pretty, they get the job done, and Cobb might play some RB as well.

I’m not thrilled… at all. James Jones single-handedly blew the first game against Chicago (other than refs, lol @ 18 penalties for the Packers vs 3 for the Bears,) as well as had some huge drops during the season and definitely into the playoffs. It should be scary to think that Jones was bailed out by Jordy Nelson as a slot receiver.
…I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Cobb is going to be a stud. Think Antwaan Randle El mixed with Percy Harvin. Yes.

Rodgers has an arsenal.
Absolutely. Other than a loss of a couple of lineman, their roster hasnt changed too much. My only worry is that they will have a young o-line.

Well with Cobb in the mix, he will have to battle for his position.

This is Braylon Edwards stats from last year, if Plaxico can have the same production and roll coverage away from Holmes, at a much cheaper price than Edwards. Then I would say this is a smart move on the Jets part.
